How to authorize an ebook reader on ADE?

I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions from the website so that I can borrow ebooks via the public library system.  I was able to authorize my computer, but can't figure out how to authorize by ebook reader (Kobo Touch) - without authorizing the device, I can't transfer the ebooks from my Mac to the Kobo Touch.  Any information on how to authorize the ebook reader would be appreciated!

I too am having this same problem but I have not seen ANY solutions for it. Looks like Apple is ignoring it!!!!!!!!?

Assuming your reader is supported you need to have it connected via usb and turned on prior to launching Adobe Digital Editions.  Once you launch Adobe Digital Editions it will ask to authorize your device.
If you have additional questions please post your inquiry to the Adobe Digital Editions forum.

  • How to authorize more than one device on my adobe digital editions Ebook reader

I have a computer, iPhone and iPad, and can't read a downloaded ebook (EPUB) on more than one device  at a time. If I try to open the item on my Overdrive account with a device other than the one I originally used when I downloaded the ebokk,  it gives me an error code "Fullfill  2004. This license has already been fulfilled by another user".  When I contacted Overdrive Media  they explained that I need to contact Adobe to authorize my various devices to have access to my Overdrive account which utilizes Adobe digital editions 4.0
Please provide info on how to authorize my additional devises to have access to downloaded e-books  on my overdrive account

Please authorize your devices with same credentials in order to read the book across devices.

  • How to authorize a Reader Digital Book to a Reader (eBook) Store account.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To transfer books from a computer to the Reader Digital Book, you must authorize the Reader Digital Book to your account. Authorization links your Reader to your eBook Store account, allowing books purchased from the eBook Store to be transferred to the authorized Reader. You can authorize up to six devices to a single account.
From your home computer and home network, do the following:
Launch the Reader (eBook) Library software.
Log into your eBook Store account.
Turn on the Reader Digital Book.
NOTE: For best results, we recommend that the Reader Digital Book be fully charged before starting the authorization process and authorized from your home computer and network. Work related computers and networks often have security measures preventing the authorization process.
Connect the Reader Digital Book to the computer.
In the eBook Store pane, click My account.
On the Account Management page, under My Authorized Devices, click Manage Devices.
On the Manage Device page, under We have detected the following attached Devices:, click the Authorize this device button.

  • How do I get my Sony ebook Reader to show up ("be recognized") in the top left corner??

How do I get my Sony ebook reader to show up ("be recognized") in the top left corner of the window.  It never shows up and I cannot transfer books from my Mac computer to ADE.  I am using Sony Reader Library but it is developing problems!!  Can anyone assist??

No solution yet.  One would think that Adobe would recognize that several complaints  have been reported on this problem.  Obviously, nobody knows how to fix it!!  Sorry I can't be helpful!!

  • My compatible ebook reader is not showing in ADE

I have downloaded epub books from the library onto a windows laptop ADE.
I connected my ebook reader to the computer before opening ADE but it does not show in the library
I have ADE authorization but cannot transfer my library books as the ebook reader is not showing.
I have previously transferred onto the same ebook reader but I have had to do a restore on the laptop and then delete my previous authorization and re-authorize.

I have had something the same, it's now sorted.  I don't know what I did but I now have my book on my reader.  Perhaps someone out there could tell us what to do as I am sure this is going to happen again.  I tend to just go at it without knowing what I'm about but it works for me.  I know that is not satisfactory but I have no skills in the technology field!  Good luck - to us both!

Hi my name is Catherine I have downloaded digital editions and a book to my PC but wish to read this on an iPad. I have downloaded Digital Editions on the iPad and don't know how to authorize it. Will the book automatically download onto the iPad once tihis is done and I open my account on the iPad?

YOu can also use Bluefire Reader for reading books that need an Adobe ID. There are several ways to transfer a book to your iPad. One way is to email the acsm file, open the email on the iPad, and "Open in ... ". Another way is to use an app like Dropbox. The third way is to connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes, select the iPad, and under  Settings select Apps. Scroll down to the File Sharing apps, select the app you want the book on, on the right select Add, navigate to where the book is on your computer, and select it. Open the app on your iPad and it should load.

  • How to support ACS format into an ebook reader

    Hi,
we are developing an ebook reader for iphone and ipad (using XCode) and we have already implemented functions for reading free epub and pdf files.
We'd like to add support for ACS files.
Where can we find  technical informations about this task?
    Kind regards.

You will want to be looking at the Reader Mobile SDK: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/readermobile.html
This is the client side code that works with ACS4

  • Plug in second eBook reader, can't read library book on PC

I'm not quite sure how flexible overdrive Library loans using ADE are meant to be, so maybe I'm trying to do something I shouldn't, but the behaviour is very odd.
I have been using my local library and reading loaned books on a Bookeen Opus; using ADE as a necessary intermediary.
This has worked fine (apart from an ADE irritation mentioned in another post, but that is pretty much a side-effect).
I can read the books on the PC if I want to (which I generally don't), and on the eBook reader.
My wife recently got a second reader (Sony PRS-350) which we have registered with the same Adobe id.
I have transferred a bought DRM book to it and that worked fine, we can read it on PC or either reader.
However, I am getting very odd effects with library books.
I've transferred books from her library account and mine onto the PC, and on to the first reader.
No problems, all behaved as before.
BUT ... when I plug the new reader into the computer, ADE gets upset and refuses to go near any of the library books.
When I try to copy a library book to the reader, I get a message 'CE_COPY_NOT_ALLOWED - No permission to copy the book.'
And when I try to read one on the PC with the new reader plugged in, I get 'Unable to open ... No record for this loan is found on this machine.'
Unplug the new reader and I can read the book on the PC; but obviously can't copy it.
Is this a feature of ADE and Adobe DRM rules on library books, or a bug in ADE, or a problem specifically with the Sony, or ...???
Googling gave me various people with 'No record for this loan is found on this machine' issues, but they all seemed different.
I guess I could install ADE on another machine with another adobeId for my wife, and register her reader with that id, but that seems a bit complicated. And not possible for lots of people who don't have a second PC.
Can anyone suggest a way around it?

Transferred from another thread to keep discussion together.
You should not make generalizations based on your experiences with
DRM-protected library ebooks that don't allow copying and then say ADE
    won't copy ebooks to a PRS-350.  That's not true.  I have a PRS-350 and I
am able to transfer ebooks to it via ADE.  The difference is DRM
protection, which you've overlooked in your previous postings.  THAT is
preventing your copying an ebook via ADE to any ereader.
I didn't say ADE wouldn't copy DRM-protected books, I said that it wouldn't copy DRM protected library books.
As I had mentioned in previous postings, it will transfer other DRM protected books with precisely the same copy protection information (except for the time expiry on the library books).
I should have been more precise: ADE 2.0.67532 won't copy Overdrive library books borrowed from Hampshire County Library to my Sony PRS-350 on my machine with Sony Reader 2.0.01.11080 installed.  Others have similar issues. As Triantiwontigongolope20notes above, My Sony ereader worked fine with the old version of ADE but the new version is causing all sorts of problems.  Or see Kovar's issues at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1079584?tstart=0
If you have sucessfully transferred DRM Overdrive books to your PRS-350 using ADE, can you please let us know the version level of ADE and Sony Reader (it's probably the underlying driver software which it installs that matters) you have installed?  That might help us narrow down the bug that undoubtably exists.

  • How do i change the display in ADE to a single page view instead of two pages side by side? I find it distracting and prefer to look at one page at a time.

How do i change the display in ADE to a single page view instead of two pages side by side? I find it distracting and prefer to look at one page at a time.

You can increase the font size and automatically page view changes. Go to menubar; Reading -> PDF View or Epub Text Size (depending upon the ebook) and increase the size.

  • How to convert epub ebooks to mobi format?

I have epub format books in my iPad. How can I convert them to mobi format and send to my kindle ebook reader?

You could also try Sony Reader.  That is designed to go with Sony eReader devices but is a free download that can work standalone, and can read Adobe DRM books.
I don't like it very much, but you may happen to prefer it to ADE.
    http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/topics/reader-for-pc
You might also try the older ADE.  That gives a better reading experience to my mind than the new one, as well as having many fewer bugs.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above.  There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'.  The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172
For non-DRM books, try Calibre.  http://calibre-ebook.com/
