How to authorize music under a dead AOL account

Having a problem. Just bought a new Mac and copied all my iTunes music to the new one, including ones I had purchased over the years since the iTunes store got started.
Problem is, I used to buy music under an AOL account, which I have since cancelled. Now I'm trying to authorize the old music, and iTunes says it can't find my account.
How can I fix and listen to my purchased music?

I tried that, and I tried clicking on creating an Apple account. However, every time I try this, I get an error message:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
Is there another way to do this?

I have purchases under an expired AOL account and very old Mac that I can no longer listen to on current versions of iTunes.  Previous version of iTunes accepted the music.  Now, I have a group of songs that will not sync to my iPod because it is associated with the old AOL account.  What do I do?

If you have an iBook G4, (PPC) you can't do much.
But if that is a MacBook (intel) you may be able to
upgrade the OS X, if the hardware is up to it...
Since there were about nine different build models
of MacBook (not powerpc iBook) to identify what
one you have would be the first step to knowing
what OS X and RAM upgrades it could use.
If the computer is not already at OS X 10.6.8,
it can't go online to get or use OS X 10.7.5. So,
when you more accurately describe the 'Book,
    detailed information is available.
When you find the serial number, there is a web
page that can be used to identify by serial no.
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
That'd be a first step. Or even the Model number
which should be visible on the outer case by hinge.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I read email from my aol account from my iphone and keep it as uread on my computer at home.  It automatically goes to read mail on my computer.  On my computer if I want to keep an email to answer later I can mark it "Keep as New".

How can I read my email from my aol account from my iphone and keep it as "unread" on my computer at home?  At home I can read an email and if I want to get back to it at a later date I can mark it as "keep as new".  I tend to forget it if it goes to "read" mail.   Right now, when I read an email from my phone it goes automatically to "read" mail.

On the iPad, using the mail app, there is no way to do what you are asking without tapping the flag icon and marking the item as unread. Have you tried the OWA app for the iPad? It may have that functionality, but I haven't tested it as you need an Office 365 subscription with Exchange support to use the app.

  • Help with importing library and how to authorize music to play

Recently I had to reformat my hard drive. As a result I am trying to transfer my itunes library back to the computer from the backup device. There doesn't seem to be a simple way to do this. I found an article online that suggested I could import the full library in one shot by putting it on the desktop and selecting it. This didn't work. So,
    1. what is the fastest and most efficient way to tranfer back my songs
    2. I find that some of the songs I have transferred already are "protected." So, I am getting a prompt to authorize the computer so the music will play. I have already authorized this computer again so when I do go through the motions w/the pop up box it tells me I have already done this. However, it will still not play the songs. So, how do I make it stop that mess and play my songs? I really don't think I should have to repurchase them.
    Thanks

  • How to authorize songs under new account without buying them again?

Okay, so for the past five years, I've been using my dad's account to buy iTunes. It sounds great in theory but now I'm in college and I live in a different city and I wanted to have my own account instead of using my dad's account for the rest of my life. Only it turns out that even if you've spent almost $1,000 in the iTunes store over the course of your life, Apple couldn't care less and they want you to buy all of those songs all over again.
People have suggested authorizing my dad's account on my computer and that does solve the initial problem but at the same time, it makes having my own account kind of moot. I've tried downloading the songs to a disc and reimporting them with no luck, it still wants authorization. But the point is, I want my own account where the songs only need my authorization, not my dad's authorization which was the whole point in the first place. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Or will I have to keep using my dad's account until I'm old? Or will I have to buy over 1,000 songs all over again?

But can I change the ID itself? Like right now it's (this is just an example) [email protected] but could I change it to [email protected]
    Yes. Go here -> https://myinfo.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyInfo
Your Apple ID does not have to be an email address either.
Note that the previously purchased songs will still show the old Apple ID as the account they were purchased on but you will use the new info to authorize them.
Right click - get info on one of the purchases to see the AppleID it was purchased with. This cannot be changed because the info is embedded in the song file itself.

  • How to transfer music from old to new account?

Hi i had an account for itunes that was with AOL but as im not with AOL anymore they have stopped me from using the account so how do i transfer my old music to a new account or is it not possible?

OK, if you have followed the advice on the page, it is probably best to contact Apple via the contact us button at the bottom of the page.
BTW have you checked that all you account info is correct in the new account?

  • Can't play songs purchased under old AOL account after upgrade to Apple ID

I guess I've been abandoned by the iTunesStoreSupport. They basically told me what caused my problem and now will not return any of my emails.
This message is mostly to inform anyone who "upgrades" an old AOL iTunes account to an Apple ID to be sure to use the same credit card for the new Apple account that you used for your AOL account.
About 2 years ago I "upgraded" my AOL iTunes Store account to be an APPLE ID. When I did that, I used a different credit card for my Apple ID than I had been using for my old AOL account. Big mistake. At the time I had no idea it would cause problems later. I don't remember seeing anything at all warning me about the importance of that at the time. Now, according to Shwetha at iTunesStoreSupport it is "important to use the same credit card for a successful conversion".
Everything worked fine with iTunes for the past 2 years, but a month ago I upgraded my hard drive in my computer and promptly recycled my old hard drive. Another mistake on my part.
A few days later when I went to play a song purchased under the old AOL account I got stuck in that endless loop where I get the prompt "This computer is not authorized to play __. Would you like to authorize it?" Then it asks me to Upgrade my AOL account, but I already did that 2 years ago. I went ahead and attempted to upgrade the AOL account again, but I was still stuck in the endless loop. (note: I did successfully authorize the computer for my Apple ID with no problems.)
I followed every step in the Troubleshooting Guide "support.apple.com/kb/TS1389" including the step where I delete the SC Info folder, but I was still stuck in that endless loop of authorizing / deauthorizing.
Shwetha was very professional and did work with me pretty quickly through 3 rounds of emails and various troubleshooting attempts. But as soon as we realized that I had used a different credit card when upgrading the AOL account to an Apple account and that the conversion was not successful, they stopped replying to my emails. I guess I'm a lost cause.

I repeat here a post I made elsewhere: I hope that it helps you, and, if it does, please post the info elsewhere.
You can get this problem solved!
I encountered this problem yesterday, when I tried to play some songs in my ITunes library on a new computer; this is an ITunes library that I had moved from my old computer.
I called Apple Support, and the excellent Tech person began looking into the problem.
Meanwhile, while I was waiting for him, I Googled the problem (which I should have done first): lots and lots of people (I discovered) have bumped into this same frustrating problem.
Yes: the problem arises when you move to a new computer with an ITunes library that includes songs you bought, way back when, using an AOL ID.
Apple Support contacted ITunes. And ITunes tracked down my AOL account, and then issued me (that is, me and Apple Support) a new Apple ID. There are two or three additional steps; they are not hard, but you need the combo of help from Apple Support and ITunes. The key thing is getting the new Apple ID, which you must have, and which, once it has done its work, you then can ignore..
I can now listen to everything--and I am signed in to ITunes using my current, usual Apple ID.
Note: All of this would be easier and simpler for us if we could actually speak to someone at ITunes; the only way we can get to a "live" person there is by contacting someone at Apple Support.

  • How do sign on using my aol account.  I used to bew given the option, but all the only choice is to us an apple id

How do I sign in using my aol account?  When signing in the only option is to use an apple account.

The way I do it is I hook to my windows computer, it will pop up iTunes. I click iTunes off. The phone will show as another drive on your computer. Click it open then migrate to the photos folder from the iPhone.
Then select all, cut then right click on your pictures folder on your computer or make a new folder on your desk top like I do and right click on new folder and select paste.
Photos will be gone. Just remember to turn off the iPhone sync in your photos folder on the phone or they will come back
    Good Luck

  • APPLE - MERGE MY AOL ACCOUNT NOW

Please for the sake of my children someone tell me how to get my gosh frick darned paid music out of my AOL account now, permanantely, for freaking ever so I never ever have to loose time over someone elses mistake. This morning for the umpteenth time I went to sync and play some music and get to work. NOPE! Hi we're Apple and you need to suffer!!
Every single computer change, every single device upgrade, every fricking 3rd saturday of the month when the moon is waxing... my fricking fracking paid AOL account drops down out of the sky like an angry old woman who thinks I've stolen her change and starts beating me with a cane.
This has been going on for some five years for me. Contact support, reset passwords, re-install iTunes, and the only solution is - I'm screwed with my AOL account purchased media forever. Hey Apple BITE ME!  Well Great except one thing. Apple doesn't seem aware of this - I can never log into the store, but I can log into this support account, AOL mail, reset passwords through the store etc.
Other than that my mornings been fine... :-)

That's it APPLE *****, is this a computer generated response or what.I already have an APPLE Account, but that does not solve my problem, I cannot authorize my purchased music I bought using my old AOL account,What lousy customer Service. I am switching to another Music source for my MP3 downloads. I give up. This is about the 6th email I have generated and I just get the run around.
