How to "Auto Enhance" (magic wand icon on iPhoto) on Aperture 3

I'm an iPhoto user and, for me, the most useful function on iPhoto is the automatic Enhance function. I consider myself a prosumer user as I have a basic knowledge of photography but my photo library carries over 10.000 photos (all family and travel photos). I already purchased Aperture 3 and imported my library from iPhoto to Aperture.
So, the question is: how to make Aperture 3 perform the same adjustments of the iPhoto Enhance function?
Thanks!!

From the Presets setting in the Adjustments panel, you'll find it under Quick Fixes

I want to email photos on a different email system, gmail. How can I get the email icon of iphoto to put my photo on a gmail email?

If you have Mail setup a a client for your Gmail account set iPhoto to use Mail.  Then select one of Mail's stationary templates for photos and use it. May not be as good as the iPhoto templates but will be fancier than a plain email window.

  • How can i use magic wand tool in photo-shop 7 ??

    nhmc,

Not with a raster image, like a .jpg. You need to be more aware of the huge differences between a raster image and raster editor, and vecor graphics and a vector editor. Selecting stuff is one of the biggest difference.
In Illustrator, you work with objects, like stacks of paper on a table. You can select individual objects anywhere on the page and on any or all layers, then transform, move, delete, fill stroke, or an infinite number of things to those objects.
In Photoshop, when you select, you are really just creating a mask, which you can then use to restrict editing to pixels within that mask on the current layer. It's like working on a photo of a stack of paper on a  table. You can't easily move the pieces of paper around.
It's difficult to explain in a short posting, and that's all I'm going to write tonight. If you intend to spend any time with Photoshop or Illustrator you should invest in some documentation, and I don't mean Adobe's completely insufficient on-line documentation. The Visual Quickstart series comes well recommended and scales easily to intermediate once you know your way around.

  • I have a macbookpro. when I connect any camera to the mac it does not show as a device. How do I load my pictures to either iPhoto or Aperture? It worked before but just stopped working. Any suggestions?

I have a macbookpro. I use Aperture and Iphoto. When I connect any camera to the Mac it does not open it as a device in Iphoto, Aperture or in Finder. It use to work but just stopped. Any sugestions?

Here is the full story. It may be long so please bear with me. I take a lot of pictures and movies. Since I have over 30,000 pictures I decided to place the Iphoto library on an external drive to save space on my internal drive since ot was getting very full. After I did that it worked fine for a while. Then one day I could not open the Iphoto library. Since I was overseas at the time I brought it to the IStudio ( not an Istore) overseas. They said to rebuild the library and they would do that for me. It took all day since I had so many pictures. When they called me and told me it was ready, I went to pick it up. They started to show me the new library. It crashed again. Not knowing how to fix this at the ISudio, they installed Aperture and imported the Iphoto library. This worked fine for a short time. When back in the states, it crashed again just like Iphoto. I took it to the IStore. They did not know why the overseas Istudio did what they did what they did  and rebuilt my aperture library. Again it worked fine. Now that I am overseas again. It crashed again. However, I concluded that the reason for these crashes is becuase I have the file on an external drive that derives its power from the Mac and not by itself. When I use it and stop for a while the MAC will go to sleep and this cuases the external drive to shut down. This then causes the library to have inconsistancies. Therefore, when it happened this time I tried to repair the library and after 36 hours it would close down Aperture. Therefore I decided to rebuild the library. That did not work either. So I tried opening the Aperture library with Iphoto. That seemed like it was going to work but after importing half of the 30,000 plus pictures. I photo shut down. I then made a new aperture libary and erged the old library with it. This worked. I now have an aperture library that works. However, when I plug my camera into the MAC nothing happens. The camera does not show up in devices in either Aperture, I photo nor in Finder. The USB port and cord I use works fine becuase I can read my external hard drives fine. I checked as SIG suggested in this thread and everything is set to open aperture when the camera is connected.
I have the newest OS version 10. 7. 2 and the computer frequently updates all my programs. I have not installed any ne software lately. The problem happens both if I am on battery or plugged in. Just before I came overseas the IStore replaced the Battery.   I can go back to the IStudio  here overseas but the last time I was there and told them about the problem ( I did not have my computer with me) they did not impress me with their wisdom. I will be back in that city in a month and can go there if need be.  Thanks for all the help so far. God bless.

  • Photoshop CS 5 - Magic Wand Tool Problem

When I use the magic wand in Photoshop CS5, it selects the entire image, not just the section I'm hovering over. I'm working in a Windows environment.
    Any suggestions?

Try resetting the magic wand tool by right clicking on the magic wand icon in the tool options bar and choosing reset tool.
Also check what the sample size is set for the eyedropper tool (that effects the magic wand)
You probably want one of the first three settings.

  • Scanned images, borders, cropping and "auto enhance"

    Afternoon.
I'm converting old slides / negatives to digital, and am aiming to store the results in aperture.
I'm still fighting through the manuals etc. and trying to work out a workflow that works for me between Silverfast and Aperture. One of the decisions to make is where / how to do the first pass "auto improve" steps. I'm keeping the "raw" scan (HDRi, 64bTIFF etc.) to reprocess the ones I'm really interested in later, but I'd like as automatic / quick a process as possible to actually get the images into Aperture, and looking OK, first.
Many of the images have some black or white borders from the edge of the slide holder / curved corner of the slide being included in the original scan (the "autocropping" in Silverfast is kind of rubbish).
How does "auto enhance" work with regard to this non-photo information? Do I need to crop before hitting "auto enhance" (so it's not factoring in the edges?)? Can it be automatically "refreshed" after cropping? Any other advice?
I know some of the manuals on silverfast mention needing to crop this stuff out before using their "auto enhance" like features, but it's another time consuming process, and something I'd rather be able to undo (i.e. uncrop if I decide later I want the original curved corners / edge detail back).
    Hope that made some sense.
    Thanks.

I'll correct my answer.  It's simpler than I thought and works well.
In Acrobat X I can use Tools/Recognize Text/ Aa In This File which will deskew and process page(s) for OCR, i.e. make it a searchable document.  When I do this on a multiple manually scanned document which has pages upside down,
the deskew rotates them 180 degrees, that is corrects the manual scan orientation.
This worked with pages of both landscape and portrait, but haven't tried with 'sideways' manual scan.
All the incorrect pages were upside down.  There's also a selection to do this with Aa Multiple files, which I haven't tried.
The deskewing in the others I've tried with this menu choice have all been accurately straightened and the text of all kinds remarkably is not only searchable but can be copied and pasted into other documents/applications with Control C and Control V.

  • Remove iChat icons from iPhoto library

How to get rid of iChat icons in iPhoto?

Well we can approach this with logic:
There's something in there you want out.
    Option 1: delete them.
Option 2: Restore from your back up to a point before these were imported.
So, delete them, or replace the Library with an earlier version.

  • How do I get photos from ios7 iphone into iPhoto or aperture on my OS 10.8 iMac

Anyone know how to transfer photos from ios7 iphone into iPhoto or Aperture on my OS 10.8 iMac?

Thx.  I thought that was what the various manuals were telling me to do but it wasn't working.  Your confirmation was useful in that it prompted me to double check (again) my usb connection (in its highly inconvenient location in the back of my iMac).  Voila.  "Always suspect operator error."

  • I accidentally touched the auto enhance icon in iPhoto and now the program is stuck at "Updating photo."  How do I make it stop?

I accidentally touched the auto enhance icon in iPhoto and now the program is stuck at "Updating photo."  How do I make it stop?

Try to quit iPhoto from the Home Screen - the recent app section.:
Double click the Home button to reveal the recently used apps.
Then tap and hold on the iphoto for ios icon until it wiggles. It will show a "minus" sign in the corner.
Now tap the minus sign to quit the app.
Click the screen above the row of recent apps to return it to normal.
Now restart iPhoto and see if it back to normal.

  • How to unselect magic wand tool to select another area?

This is so silly but it is driving me nuts.  I used to be able to select an area with the Magic Wand tool and then when I was done, click on something else and it would "deselect."  But now it doesn't do that anymore.  Did I change a setting somehow by accident or did they do an update that changed that?  I hate having to do Ctrl D to deselect it when I used to just click on something else.

Thanks for your help.  I actually checked on the icons where you mentioned and the one I wanted was the "new selection box"  I had "add to selection" checked and so it wouldn't unselect when I went to new area.  So your answers helped!  Thanks so much.

  • How do I select similarly colored text using the magic wand?

I converted a large document from RGB to CYMK (File | Document Color Mode). I'd like to select all of the text that was RGB(0,0,0) and is now CMYK(75.02,67.97,67.02,90.16) so I can change it to CMYK(0,0,0,100). I think the magic wand is the way to do this (correct me if I'm wrong).
I have text in a dozen or more text areas. Many of the text areas overflow text into another text area. Some of the text in the text areas is "black" but there is also text with other colors that I'd like to remain unchanged.
For example, I'd like to select all of the black text in the following two text areas without selecting the red text. I thought  that I could click on the black text and have all the black text (but not the red text), selected, but the entire text box is selected (and nothing in the second text box is selected). Can the wand select some text within several text boxes? If not, how should I go about changing the black? Thanks.

    Thanks Mylenium.
If I use the Same Fill command, it does select both text areas. But if I then choose a replacement color (e.g., CMYK(0,0,0,100)) all of the text in both text areas is changed to black (i.e., the red text in my above illustration also changes to black).

  • Enhancing a line using Magic Wand

We don't use Photoshop a lot, so this may be a simple question but I've been unable to get something to happen.
I have a transparent GIF file, which outlines a series of counties in my state.  It is just a thin black line outline of these.  This is all that is on this GIF, although this file is merged over another file which is a topographical map.
I need to make the county outlines into a thicker line so that they'll stand out more.  I'm able to grab the lines using the magic wand (which to me seems the natural thing to do), but from there I can't figure out how to increase the line width.
This is an old version of Photoshop we've had for years, so I need to work this accordingly.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
    ed

No need for a selectionm, use Filter->Other->Minimum to increase the thickness of your black lines. If you want to go the Magic Wand route then once you have your selection, use Select->Modify->Expand.
