How to auto split existing projects in Aperture 3?

Hi, I would like to batch split my existing projects in aperture 3 (latest version) so they're all split with one date of pictures in them, and I would also really like to name all of them by the date that the pictures were taken. Like for example, I have an album that's named "Album 1" and it has dates from July 24th-August 17, and I would like to have an individual album or project for every date, and also for the new split albums to be named by the date of the photos inside of it. How do I do this? Thank you!

Hi,
Sorry, I can't help you there - I suspect it may be an Applescript job, but don't know Applescript myself.
Thinking about it some more, you could do it sort-of manually by first creating a new Project then searching all Projects for images falling within a set date range. You then select all the images returned by that search and drag them to your new Project.  Rename the Project accordingly, and rinse, lather, repeat.
This approach will be viable only if you have a limited number of images across not too big a date range.  Trying this on a big collection will do your head in.
I understand what you want to do now, but still don't understand why.

  • During import, how to auto split one project into multiple albums based on date?

I believe I've done enough aperture reserach to get all my terminology right, so here goes...
I've created a file structure within the aperture inspector the the tune of:
Year [folder], Type of event (Occasion, special occasion, holiday, vacation) [folder], Project (Wedding), Album (i.e. Day 1, Day 2 or Pre wedding week, event, honeymoon).
I also have entire months with 7 or 8 pictures each day, that are of the same type/project (random dog pictures) but are distinctly different days (albums - day in park, in bed at night, watching movie).
My question is, can I import one project with multiple albums already created based on the date they're taken.  As I can see it, all I can do is split individual projects automatically by date.  But what if one project is over one month, but has multiple distinct days that would be ideal for albums?  One more example.  We did a trip to San Fran.  One day was touring the city, one day was a concert, another day was touring the city.  All one project, but 3 different albums (in my mind).  I had to import as one project, then separately go in and make albums.  I would like that done automatically.
My suspicion is that I can not natively do this within aperture, and that I would need something called an "applescript."  I haven't done any reserach into that area, so if that's the case and you know where I can find a script that would do this, I'd appreciate the help.
Sorry for the wordiness, just wanted to be clear.  Thanks for any and all help!

    Hi,
You need to create a new requirement in tcode VOFM for that, together with your ABAP consultant. This requirement will be used in copy contol.

  • How can I split a project. In iPhoto one could choose that option from the Events dropdown on the toolbar

How can I split a project? In iPhoto I could use the Event tab in the tool bar and there was an option to split the event but I can't find it on Apeture 3.

Hi Wayne.  Aperture and iPhoto differ in many -- perhaps all -- ways.  They were designed (afaict) with radically different users in mind.
To move images into a new Project, select them, then execute "File→New→Project" and check "Move selected items to new project".

Why is it impossible to import pics into existing projects in Aperture 3.6 ? It forces me to create a new project on every import.
Tried to change that in preferences but no luck.

It is working for me.  Two ways to import into an existing project:
Select a project and view it in the browser in split view. If you drag image files from a folder directly into the filmstrip, the dragged image files will be added to that project.
Or select a project in the library, before you open the Import panel. Then you can switch the destination project in the Import Settings  from "new Project" to the selected project.
Have you tried these methods? Where does it not work for you?

  • How do I split a project in IMovie into two projects?  When I try to burn a DVD RDL in IDVD, it tells me the movie is too long.

I am running  IMovie 8.0.6.  (OS X Mavericks 10.9.5) How do I split a project into two projects?  When I share it in Media Browser to IDVD, and try to burn a DVD- RDL, it keeps telling me the project is too long.  Do I split it in IDVD and how do I do that?

AppleMan  Thanks very much for the information, however I could't make it work. I followed your instructions to the letter, in fact I tried every which-way. I created a dedicated file into which I copied and pasted the project from "package contents"  but it was still greyed out when I went to retrieve it. I also found that the file size was reduced to only a few Kb.  Any further step-by-step instructions would be appreciated as I am obviously doing something wrong.  Babowa  It appears that in imovie everything has to be "finalised" before it can be used or shared elsewhere in the same way as a disk has to be to be played elsewhere. Funnily enough an MOV file I converted to Mp4 was not greyed out and I was able to import it.... an exercise I am not keen on because of resolution loss during conversion

  • Aperture: Auto Split Photostream Project?

    Hi All
I'm loving photostream and getting all my pics into my library, however at the end of the month I'm left with a folder full of pics which I like to split into events by date.
My question is... Is there any way to get the photostream folder to split into smaller folders by day automatically or faster than doing it manually?  (i.e. June photostream folder into June 1, June 2, June 3, etc.)
This would save me a good hour a week, so any help appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    William writes:
"Photostream is Photostream.  You can't split it."
    That is incorrect.
You can in fact split Photo Stream events -- but it appears it can only be done from within iPhoto, not Aperture. While not convenient, this is not a problem because Aperture (3.3) and iPhoto (9.3) can open and manipulate the same libraries. (Apple's official documentation is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5043)
If your Aperture and iPhoto apps have separate libraries (as would be expected, unless you've already "unified" them), you can temporarily open your Aperture library in iPhoto, split the Photo Stream events there, then point iPhoto back to its own library.
    - Quit Aperture.
    - Open iPhoto, and from the File menu, select Switch to Library to open your Aperture library or whichever library contains the Photo Stream Event(s) you wish to split. (See Apple's support pages, which I've linked above, for details on sharing libraries between iPhoto and Aperture.)
    - Check your iPhoto preferences' General tab for "Autosplit into Events." Select the setting you want, and close the Preferenes window.
    - In the main iPhoto window, with Events selected at the left, select the Photo Stream event (or events) you'd like to split (e.g., "Aug 2012 Photo Stream").
    - Finally, from iPhoto's Events menu, select "Autosplit Selected Events."
    Voila.
Quit iPhoto, then reopen the Aperture library from within Aperture. Your newly split events should now appears as (newly split) projects within Aperture.
NOTE: As far as I can tell, there's no "Autosplit" command in Aperture, which is unfortunate. Hence, this cumbersome workaround. If I'm mistaken, I invite the correction, as it'd be far more convenient to be able to do this directly within Aperture. Hopefully Apple will realize (or has realized) this omission and will correct it in a future Aperture update.

  • How to auto number existing chapters?

I have chapters and a TOC already created in Pages.  Some of the chapter titles were copy/paste so that they have the same chapter number (but I changed the chapter sub head).  My TOC looks like this:
    Chapter 1      4
    xxx
    Chapter 2      15
    xxx
    Chapter 2      24
    xxx
    Chapter 2       37
    xxx
I did go into Inspector > Text > List > Numbers but that ends up looking like this:
    1. Chapter 1      4
    xxx
    2. Chapter 2      15
    xxx
    3. Chapter 2      24
    xxx
    4. Chapter 2       37
    xxx
Is there a way to get the auto number in front of the word "Chapter"?
Also, will this update the chapter numbers inside the document?

    Ok.
While you're here, how do I make my TOC titles clickable?  Seems like this was working earlier but not they don't bring me to the title within the document.

  • How to understand an existing project

    Hello everybody
I am very new to java programming joined as a programmer in a company where already an application was developed by an external consultant.
now I have to understand and extend that programme. IDE is eclipse and GUI is developed using swings.
so kindly can any one please help me how to start to understand this project as early as possible.
Or any free software tool which can help me in discovering and graphically representing the deep, internal logic of Java code.
    thanking you in adavance.
with hopes to get help from you.

Run the program in a debugger and watch the treads and execution parts.
You could also run it in a profiler to get detail information about the applications behaviour.

I have found some discussion of merging, but I think this is a different matter (unless I am mistaken). I want to permanently incorporate the content of the smaller project into the larger project.
What is the best method for doing this please?
    Mike

    Hello again
Sure, you can import the topics as a "batch" by selecting many topics at once.
As for the links, I'm thinking that as long as you maintain the relative locations between the linked topics, that all should be fine.
What I mean by the relative locations is to say that if you have a folder structure in the source project, you will need to ensure you have the identical folder structure in the destination. Then ensure the topics are copied to the exact folders.

  • How to import an existing project into DTR

I have one question for NWDI:
    There are two senarios:
    A. I created a web dynpro project without NWDI. Now I want to import it into DTR. Is there any workaround?
    B. My NWDI crashed and can not be recovered. Then I install a new empty NWDI. Since I checked out all the DCs to my client side. Is there any workaround to re-import the project into the empty NWDI?

    Hi,
You can transfer local DC project into NWDI. I have a doc which tells the procedure to Convert local CAF DC project into NWDI. For Web Dynpro project the procedure will be same. So you can go through the doc

Without NWDI you can also do your development by usind DCs in your local plugin folder. Here is one doc also.

  • Splitting existing account into multiple IDs.

We currently have 1 Adobe ID that is used for multiple CS5.5 subscriptions. How do you split existing subscriptions from a single ID so that each one has its own ID? I know I could simply create a new ID for each subscription but then I am only eligible for 1 lower cost subscription.

With Creative Cloud Membership you would need to create multiple Adobe ID's (each billed separately) or you may want to consider the Team Ready (not available yet) option depending on how many individual memberships you have.

  • Import auto split projects

    Hi,
Is it possible to use the auto split project options on import to include the date in the project name?
Effectively automatically making a project for each shooting day, with the date in the project name?
Whilst I can see it split the days into separate projects, I can't work out how to get the date of those photos into the project name.
    Cheers
    Darren

    Hi,
I couldn't find a way to do it automatically, so wrote a small script to sort a single project into multiple dated projects, and move each photo into that project.
Save the script below somewhere safe and select it on the A3 import dialog to run after import.
Create a blue folder at the library root called Shoebox.
When importing, don't autosplit, but import everything into a project called untitled project.
The script will run after import and sort as needed.
Works OK for me on my limited testing, but use at your own risk!
    Cheers
