How to automate a plug-in

Hi all
I'm just starting to find my way around Aperture now and really getting to grips with the basics. I've got the Nik collection of software which I'm finding makes the combination great for a hobby photographer.
I've recently seen someone using darkroom with the Nik collection, and he's been able to setup a shortcut key to send a picture into a plugin (eg ndefine), have it do its stuff, then return. It all seemed so seamless and straight forward.
Is something like this possible in Aperture? I've hunted around and it looks like it maybe, by using automator/apple script, but given I'm a newbie, i'm not sure.
Could anyone give any suggestions on what to try?

For standard settings, just hit "Enter" once the Image is in Nik Dfine. (You might have to wait for Dfine to finish processing.)
This could be automated, but maintaining and trouble-shooting the automation to activate a single key-press seems not likely to be worth the time invested.
You can batch w. Nik as well. Select the Images, send them to Nik Dfine, let it do it's processing, and click "Save All".
You could, for instance, flag the Images from today's low-light session that you want to keep and develop, select all the flagged ones, send them to Dfine with your new hot-key, return some phone calls, and when Dfine is done determining the default noise reduction for each file, press and release the "Enter" key. This is the same as clicking the "Save All" button (note the change from the "Save" button when only one file is sent).
Iirc, there are some instructions in the PDF manual that talk about creating custom defaults. You might have to run Dfine through PS for those to work, however.

I am guessing that you have encountered the problem that many discovered in Logic 8 that it does not automatically show a "Master" track in the arrange page, so there is no track lane to automate things.
However, are you talking about the master output, which is simply the master volume coming out of your system, or the Stereo Output, labeled "Output 1-2" where all of your tracks are feeding, which is your "Master Mix Bus"?
Either way, you do the following:
1. Create a new track (either audio or software type - it doesn't matter because you will be reassigning it in the next step)
2. "control-click" on the track header in the arrange page and a menu will appear which includes "reassign track objects".
You want to select
reassign track objects>mixer>output stereo
or
reassign track objects>mixer>other>master
If you want to automate your mix, you will want to select the output stereo option, otherwise you are just automating the volume coming out of your speakers/headphones.
that's the way I do it, other logic gurus probably may know an easier solution.

Still got the problem that after sAIObjectSet->DeleteObject the brush (Pattern on Path) isn't deleted but has a funky name "Deleted Plugin Object 1".
Any correct way of making deletion of a brush work, if I already know the brush's name (and what kind it is).
I also have tried various selectors with sAIPlugin->CallPlugin with AIObjectSetMessage.
I'd be happy using sAIDictionary instead of sAIObjectSet if there were a hint how to get the dictionary with those brushes, and I'll be happy with separate dictionaries per the separate brush plug-ins, just like the object sets are per brush plug-in.
But how to get to those brushes dictionaries, if they exist?
Rest of my plug-in works great, but can't use it or give it to anyone as long as it keeps amassing brushes and I can't clean it up.

How to automate flex application

I have a Flex Application that needs to be automated using tools like HP's QuickTest Pro (QTP) or something. However, QTP requires that you write some custom code if you wish to automate some home-made components... Unfortunately, we have some 3rd-party components which we do not have the source code so we can't really the custom code without having the 3rd-party component's source code and we cannot add some additional SWC files or some other files into the application to automate it. the application is already compiled and we have only the executable file.
how to automate flex application in above case. it is not possible to add any sort of code to application so can we add some sort of plugin to existing testing tool to automate flex. is there any plug-in available for that and for which tool?

What do you want to automate? Essbase has several different ways of automating functionality including Esscmd, Maxl and several different flavors of APIs (C / VB / Java). The tool you would choose to automate with depends on what you are trying to do.
If you post more specifics, we could direct you to which tool would be most appropriate and can refer you to the proper docs to get started.

How to make outbound plug to Public attr

Hi All,
           I am trying to call outbound plug from get_v method for f4 help. But when i click on f4 help, it getting dump by giving below error.

In get_v method, using below piece of code.

My concern is how to make Outbound plug to public or if there any other way to call Outbound plug from Get_v then please advice.

Hi Imran!
To make outbound plug public please do the following things:
1)In BSP_WD_CMPWB: go to the code of your outbound plug and switch to edit mode;
2)Save & Activate your outbound plug.
3)Menu "Go to" -> "Method Definition"-> tab "Attributes":
- set "Visibility" = Public
- "Event" block: "Active" should be marked.
Warning: after changing of visibility the content(code) of method will be removed automatically!
So, save it beforehand.
4) Then go to method and try to do save and activate.
You will get a error message. Double click at this message - so you will be redirected to the error place - protected section of the current class.
5) Find out in this protected section the rows with your outbound plug - cut out them.
6)On the toolbar you will see button for public section - go there and past you rows there.
7) save and activate everything.
8) Now you can fill your outbound plug with your logic and activate again.
I did this just recently many times and it worked fine.
Please tell me if something is unclear or doesn't work.

OB52 Posting Period Close: Does anyone know how to automate the close?

Does anyone know how to automate the FI Period Close (trans code OB52)? Currently, the business users go into the screen and open and close any periods manually. For the MM period close, we are able to do so because we found the program to use in the batch job. For some reason, the FI side shows the program SAPL0F00 but this is only a view and will not allow a batch job to be created. Does anyone know of the actual program used for the FI period close?

How to install the plug-in for SQLServer 2000

Hello, All,
I am installing Oracle Migration workbench (10.1.0.4.0), want to migration data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle. I downloaded omwb.zip file and sqlserver2k.zip plug-in. I put the plug-in in “plugins” folder during the installation, renamed it as SQLSERVER2K.JAR, and unzip it there, the unzip process generated two folders: META-INF and Oracle. There is a MANIFEST.MF file in META-INF folder, and in oracle folder, several small folders folder with a lot of .class files. I started the OMWB.BAT file in bin folder, I still get the error information: “No okugubs are installed. Please install…. “.
I tried many times, including rebooted the machine and restarted the OMWB.bat ifle, but still got the same error message. It should be a simple problem, but I just can't install OMWB becasue of the plug-ins problem.
Could anyone who installed the OMWB before and know how to solved the plug-in problems help me?
I am thinking: do I need to put all of the .class files in the folders into the “plugins” folder directly?

1- Download Omwb.zip & MySQL4.zip from Migration WorkBench WebSite
2- Unzip Omwb.zip (suppose it is unziped in C:\omwb)
3- Copy MySQL4.zip to C:\omwb\plugins and rename to MySQL4.jar
4- Execute C:\omwb\omwb.bat for WorkBench

I have UI which provide the facility to create own format by using drag and drop utility. I have also xml file which contains the data. Now task is how to automatically generate the .xsl file of the dynamically designed format for the data stored in xml form.
If you have any idea about the solution of the above problem.

XSL stands for EXtensible Stylesheet Language, and is a style sheet language for XML documents. .xsl is the extension of the XSL file.Thank you, I am aware of all that.
When we design any format by using drag & drop utility, System has to generate the .xsl file (extensible stylesheet for the xml document).Why? To accomplish what?
And then .xsl file is used to display the data which is stored in xml document on the webpage with designed format.So you need to define the mapping between XML and HTML? and you're hoping to do that automatically?
That's a job for a user interface designer. Not a tool.

It would make more sense if you started from a schema. Starting from an actual XML document, i.e. an instance of the schema, no, not even slightly.

How to remove kindlegen plug-in in InddCS5.5

Once again, I fell for the recommendation to install a third-party plug-in: Amazon kindlegen plug-in for indesign CS5.5. It has caused my INDDCS5.5 to not be able to load. I want to remove this kindlegen plug-in. I saw on one forum (not adobe forum) some very tecchie/geekie instructions, involving yet another program to be installed to remove kindlegen. Does anyone here know some easier way to get rid of the thing?

Kindlegen always caused problems for me. IMHO, a horrible program. I just stick to InDesign "export for epub" option. And then Amazon, B&N, et. al., can do the rest (like, Amazon converting to their mobi format when you upload an epub file to kdp.amazon.com.

How to install optional plug-ins

I just read in the March issue of Photoshop User magazine about optional plug-ins you can download from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4048. It includes the Contact Sheet II plug-in among others. The article described how to install this plug-in but there are other things included in the Goodies folder that I'd like to install but not sure how. For example, there are textures but I don't see a textures folder where PS CS4 is installed. The readme file doesn't tell you how to install the features. Any help would be appreciated.

most things like textures, actions, brushes etc. can be loaded via the flyout menu in their respective palettes. the little triangle in the upper right corner? click that, you'll see "load textures" or "load brushes" etc.

I want to remove a Safari plug-in. I know how to find the plug-ins that have been installed (Safari > Help > Installed Plug-Ins), but the names of the plug-ins mean nothing to me. I do know, however, when the plug-in (the one that I want to remove) was installed. Is there a way to see the list of installed plug-ins by install date? Thx

Do you back up with Time Machine? If so, scroll back through the snapshots of the plugin folders until you find the most recent change.
