How to automate deleting periodic emails

Like many of us, I receive emails from certain places on a periodic basis.  Whether it's the sale of the week, new music on Spotify, the latest updates from my favorite social network, I spend an inordinate amount of time manually pruning my inbox of older such messages.  I'm looking for a way to automate this.  I use Mail.app as my email client.  I'm not averse to third party tools (I run MailTags & MailActOn plugins), but would prefer something using Mail.app rules with perhaps a smart Applescript to handle this.
I'm hoping someone out there in the Apple community has already solved this.

If you are looking to delete those messages only after a certain period of time and not immediately, you could create a rule with conditions to find those and add a condition for "Date Received" "Is Greater Than" "amount of days". I'm not sure how the date function would work as rules only apply to incoming messages. But I assume it will work because it is listed in the conditions.
You could also create a smart folder to search out those messages. They will populate in the folder as the conditions are met and it's just a matter of selecting all within that folder and deleting them.

How do I delete stored email addresses in my iphone? When sending photos, I don't want to have certain email addresses  "popping up" from the internal memory, I've deleted my entire "Contact" list but they still appear.  Help please!

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.

  • How do I delete ALL emails on Droid Turbo (pop3)?

I have a Droid Turbo, and love it. But I cannot figure out how to mass delete (all) emails from the phone. I use Pop3 to my email.
I know you can swipe individual emails to delete or press and hold on an email to select, then do the same individually to many and then delete, but I cannot find a "delete all" option like my previous Droid Maxx. Because I haven't been able to keep up with it, I have over 999 emails sitting in there with no way at the moment to delete them all unless I spend a few hours deleting each one, one by one.
    Any help here?
    Thanks.

That is extremely disappointing. If I delete the account from my phone, will it delete all the messages that way? I might have to find a way to delete and re-add the mail into the phone as the current amount of messages is a large bloat to the phone.
Also, where do I suggest this "delete all" be added to the phone? This was on the Droid Maxx and previous versions. It is odd they would remove an option that could cause extreme bloat.

  • I have an ipad 2 and I noticed I have over 3000 emails in All Mail. I want to know how can I delete these emails. It looks like you can only do it one at a time. It will take me forever. Please help me.

You can only delete them one at a time on the iPad. If you have an IMAP email account, go to your email in on the server using a web browser and select as many as you can at a time and delete them that way. That action will be reflected on the iPad. In IMAP - whatever you do on one device syncs across all devices. If you have POP email - start deleting one at a time.

How do i delete sent emails in one go? There must be a few thousand sent items in there with large attachments. Of course it would be silly to do it one by one, so whats the quicker solution?

You could always try the Mark All thing again for sorting. Do the same as before, for delete (come to think of it, do it before you Delete All, otherwise you'll have nothing to sort). Having Marked All, instead of Delete try Sort. Does this make any difference?

  • How can I delete an email on my iMac without opening it - I know it contains a virus

I have an email account on my 2013 iMac - how can I delete an email on the account without opening it - I know from the subject that it is a virus

It does not have a virus attached and unless you open whatever (if anything) is attached or linked to the email nothing can happen.
So you can select and delete it and nothing will happen
Although, if you never select it nothing will happen.
    Your choice.

  • How can I delete multiple emails on my Samsung Stratosphere at once?

How can I delete multiple emails on my Samsung Stratosphere at once? I use AOL and when I delete the emails off of my computer, they do not delete from my phone. So I have hundreds of unwanted messages showing on my phone but I have not found an option to delete all messages, only individually. I would also like to be able to clear the messages from my phone without them deleting from my computer. This was super easy with my blackberry and I have not found anything similar on this phone.

When I go to the trash folder on my Stratosphere, I can check individual emails and then hit "Menu" and "Delete", but if I hit the "Menu" button before selecting any e-mails, then I see the "Delete all" button, but it's greyed out, so I cannot select it.  There's also a "Restore All" button next to the "Delete all" button, and it's also greyed out.  So, currently the only way I can delete the 100's of e-mails in my trash is to put a check mark next to each one, which is painful.  Anybody else have this problem or know of a solution?
