How to automate installing add-ons for large roll outs?

I asked this question about a year ago here:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/884702
This answer worked fine until version 21. Now when I follow these steps, the add-on doesn't install.
To recap, I do large scale rollouts of Firefox, and I'd like to be able to setup a group of add-ons that will be installed automatically (I don't want to manually install each one).
How do I do this?
Thanks!

hello brundleflyguy, not much has changed - however the files now have to go into ''\browser\extensions'' within the program folder. some background on the issue is explained in www.ghacks.net/2013/05/15/why-you-may-have-lost-access-to-plugins-or-extensions-in-firefox-21/.

How to install add-ons to Premiere 13. I bought it together with Photoshop Elements in electronic version from Adobe.com page. But I dont have link to 2nd DVD with Premiere Add-ons. How to install that files ?

    reidak
To what are you referring when you ask about "add-ons to Premiere 13" (assumed you mean Adobe Premiere Element 13)? On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running?
Premiere Elements has not come with a Content Disc or offered Content download from an Adobe web site since Premiere Elements 10.
If "add-ons" to you mean Content download...DVD Templates, Movie Themes, Clip Art, etc....then most of that is going to come from downloading
Content from within the opened project. There is a limited amount of content that comes complete as part of the installation.
A description of this process is fully described

  • Could not install add ons for Muse and installed extension manager?

I am a longtime user of photoshop, no Creative Cloud. I recently tried to install add ons and extension manager to build a website in Muse, NO LUCK? Help

It would seem like that article ''should'' solve the problem, but it doesn't seem to have had any effect. I extracted the contents of the .xpi file into the browsers\extensions folder using the extension ID, yet that doesn't seem to have done anything. I ran firefox after copying the uncompressed files with an administrator account with no luck. Any thoughts?

  • How to access installed Add-ons like OneTab?

I have installed OneTab to my Firefox am unsure how it works as I can't find the icon/button/shortcut to access it. It is showing as 'Enabled' in the Extensions list.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot again for the suggestions.
I did go through the OneTab Help page and the following options are available to access/disply OneTab.
    1. The icon on the Toolbar (In my case this neither shows nor lets me add it from the List)
    2. The OneTab right click menu (In my case, there is no Onetab menu in the default Right Click menu)
    3. Keyboard Shortcut - Alt + Shift + 1 (This doesn’t work as well)
I had written to the OneTab team (Onetab.com/feedback) twice and am yet to receive a reply from them. In the ‘Add-Ons’ page, I have now removed all other extensions and OneTab is showing as enabled.
It could be a setting that is preventing OneTab to alter the Toolbars as Gnospen is suggesting and this point brings to my notice an update on the OneTab Info (in the ‘Add-Ons’ page) that was added in Nov 2014:
''A small minority of people are seeing a blank page instead of their OneTab tabs. This does *not* mean that you have lost them. They are still stored in Firefox, but something is preventing the OneTab extension from loading properly. Please try going to the Add-Ons menu option in Firefox and temporarily disabling all add-ons except OneTab and then restarting Firefox. This should allow OneTab to load normally. We are also looking into an alternate solution for those this does not work for. ''
Just for the record, I have already tried the following:
    • Disabled all other extensions but Onetab and restarted Firefox.
    • Removed all other extensions but OneTab and and restarted Firefox.
    • Removed all extensions including OneTab and re-installed just OneTab after restarting Firefox.
    • I removed Firfox and re-installed it and re-installed just OneTab.
    Thanks.

  • How do I install add-ons in Photoshop Elements 13 (Mac)?

Can I install traditional Photoshop add-ons (actions, filters, brushes, layer styles, etc.) in Photoshop Elements?  If so, how do I do that (Mac OSX Yosemite)?
I purchased this deal several weeks ago but can't seem to figure out how to install the packs.  There are multiple .zip files.

From the editor it's in the menu 'Enhance'
In the Organizer it's in the menu 'Edit'
The trial version is exactly the same as the final one.

  • Install Add-ons for All Users

    Salutations!
I'm looking for a solution to install an add-on for all users. Specifically, we're using the Symantec PKI client (https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/mpki-support/index?page=content&id=SO27063&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US). The current version, as seen in the support page, has to be installed manually. the problem is, every time new user logs into the system with the latest version of the PKI client installed, this webpage will pop up, annoying users. As a workaround to this issue, I'm looking to install the add-on linked in on the support page and have it enabled for all users by default.
I followed this article's chosen solution, but it does not appear to have installed the add-on: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/966922
Any assistance would be appreciated! The version of firefox that I attempted the solution in was version 35.0.1, but most of our systems are running in the ESR channel, version 31.4.0.
    Cheers,
    Moose
P.S. I've added the troubleshooting information, but my workstation is fairly unique, so I'm not sure if it'll be very applicable to most of the systems in our environment.

It would seem like that article ''should'' solve the problem, but it doesn't seem to have had any effect. • How do I install add-ons stand-alone(offline) ?

Everytime I do a Windows Reformat...I have to search out all the Add-ons I had and re-install them. Or... Save the "extensions" folder some place safe and put it back in its place. This is obviously shabby. Is there a way to actually "Download' an add-on and install it off-line?

    and other sollution is
1st u have internet connection and download firefox and all its addons
in all this time before starting this procedure start VMware Thinintall
to make your .EXE ( executable file ) means any software of installation file ,
    portable
    so enjoy this trick
    1st >download thininstall(VMware)
    2 >install thininstall
    3>run thininstall
    4>prescan start
    5>minimize it
6>start firefox installtion and all addons
7>all configuration u want in firefox
    8>post scan in thininsall

  • Installed Add Ons, however ontinue to be prompted to install everytime firefox is launched. How do I make it go away?

We received the screen to install ad block plus 1.3.9 and Garmin Commun 2.9.3.1. Both installed and then we were prompted to restart Firefox. Clicked on the restart firefox button and firefox restarted. Now each time we click Firefox, the same screen appears with a long list of Java stuff. What do we need to do so that this screen doesn't appear?

forget that. do this: Close Firefox -> Start Firefox in Safe Mode by Holding down the SHIFT key while starting Firefox -> Safe Mode window appears -> click "Continue in Safe Mode"
-> Update Firefox to the latest version by going to Help Menu -> About Firefox -> click Check for Updates -> if an updated version is found then download the latest version and install it. After that follow these steps:
    -> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> unselect All Unwanted toolbars
-> go Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> ''Time range to clear: '''select EVERYTHING''''' -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on ALL Options -> click "Clear Now"
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> General -> ''When Firefox starts : '''select "Show My Home Page"''''' -> Type the address of the website which you want to be your HomePage e.g. http:www.google.com -> place Checkmark on "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file" -> select Radio Button option2 "Always ask me where to save files"
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Block Pop-up windows
    2) Load images automatically
    3) Enable JavaScript
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy -> History section -> ''Firefox will: '''select "Use custom settings for history"''''' -> Remove Checkmark from "Permanent Private Browsing mode" -> place CHECKMARKS on:
    1) Remember my Browsing History
    2) Remember Download History
    3) Remember Search History
    4) Accept Cookies from sites -> select "Exceptions..." button -> Click "Remove All Sites" at the bottom of "Exception - Cookies" window
4a) Accept Third-party Cookies -> under "Keep Until" select "They Expire"
-> REMOVE CHECKMARK from CLEAR HISTORY WHEN FIREFOX CLOSES
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons
    2) Block reported attack sites
    3) Block reported web forgeries
    4) Remember Passwords for sites
-> Click OK on Options window
-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select All Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

  • An unknown website just appeared in my 'exceptions' list (Tools Options Security "warn me when sites try to install add-ons"-how could this happen?

downloaded Firefox onto friends' laptop last night. Found it necessary to place two websites in the (afore-mentioned) "Exceptions" category. shut down/re-booted three-four times over the next few hours before shutting down the laptop and going to bed. Booted up this am and, WHOA!-suddenly my menu/toolbars have new, undesired toolbars(?) search boxes(?): the search box, if I remember right, was labeled "My Web Search sponsored by iwon!" Whilst eliminating the intruders I became aware that by some unknown means I had fetched up on some webpage I've never heard of and had no reason to go to-( the very top of my display (above the menu and address bar) read: 'reason upgrade Search' (separated by a line symbol I can't reproduce here), then 'Musician's Friend' ....HUH? (feeling like Dorothy w/o a tornado transport). So I finish getting rid of the invaders and check out my History to try to figure out how I wound up at this website. my history indicates the last site I visited before going to bed, then 'aclk' (www.google/aclk? followed by a string of mixed symbols letters etc. Then 'redirect' (www.rkdms.com/redirect?c=....and a string of numbers and letters. Then the website"reason upgrade Search (?) Musician's Friend " then 'redirect.jhtml' (www.search.mywebsearch.com/mywe.........) Them 'Firefox Web Browser& Thunder....' still no clue how or why I wound up at that site..didn't go there, (not of my volition, anyways!!) so im checking my security settings and in Tools>options>Security>advanced> in the "Exceptions" category of "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons" is a website I've never heard of (getpersonas.com) and DID NOT enter!!!!!!!.Need to know how this could happen, how to prevent recurrence and how hard should I hit the panic button because right now I'm totally freaked!
    == today

These prefs get set to an empty String once the sites have been added to the whitelist if the pref is not empty if you open the exception window.
Tools > Options > Security : "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons": Exceptions
You can reset these prefs on the about:config page.
    xpinstall.whitelist.add - addons.mozilla.org
    xpinstall.whitelist.add.36 - getpersonas.com
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

  • When I installed Firefox, my add-ons for Internet Explorer were shut off. Can I only have add-ons for one browser?

  • Can't install add-ons or remove old ones

    Hello,
I've done a fair few re-installs on my OSX and I'm now running 10.9.5 with Firefox 33, however every time I reinstalled, I copied over my profiles folder to have the saved passwords, history and add-ons already setup.
Recently something strange has been going on, I can't install an add-on, it installs but even after a restart it says it will be isntalled after restart.
I can't delete one, same thing as above, so I had to delete majority of them manually.
Every time I load firefox, it checks for add on compatability, which it didn't do before.
Is this some sort of a permissions issue or? I'd do a fresh install however I need to retrieve my passwords and browsing history first, and only way I know how to do that is with a plugin.
    Any help would be appreciated!

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also delete possible addons.json and addons.sqlite files.
You can reset all prefs to have a fresh start and delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
