How to automatically line up the icons on the desktop

Hello,
I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 7. I've deleted some apps, and now I want to, somehow, move all the icons/apps close together instead of having a few on page 2, 3 on page 3, and so forth. Is there an easy way to move all the apps together and not skipping a blank page? Like Auto Arrange.
If you need a clearer description, please do not hesitate to ask.
Lastly, can anyone know how I can send the pictures & videos I have on my iPhone 4 to a PC without having iTunes installed? It's not my computer and I'm not allowed to install any programs on the computer. I am allowed to download the pictures and videos to my computer running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 [32-bit]?

THANK YOU! I actually went out to get a Targus Stylus because it seemed as though my fingers weren't working or my iPhone didn't recognized me as being as human!
What I did noticed that my old iPod (Model MB533LL) with iOS 4.2.1 (8C148) is more sensitive to my fingers than my iPhone 4 with iOS 7.0.3. Is this normal?

But one last thing if you can help me - I've just switched over to Mozilla/Firefox from I.E., and now I cannot open my Hotmail from Mozilla/Firefox. I log in, it goes to my 'Inbox' page, but when I click on an Email letter to open it, nothing happens. I can't even go into 'Drafts' or 'Delete' or anything.

I recently upgraded to 0S 10.6.8 on mab pro and now have pink lines around the desktop borders. A horrible red colour appears in the background of the screen saver, and in parts of Safari and other applications including MS Office. please help

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to SL OS 10.6.8 and now have pink lines around the desktop borders and some menus. There is also a horrible red colour that appears in the background of photobooth and parts of Safari. The screen saver looks like an alien life form with red in the background. There are odd translucent colours in the background of other applications including MS Office. It looks like a horrible psychedilic trip from the 60's. I ran the upgrade again but nothing changed. Can you help?

Backup your files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, under the Utilities menu > Disk Utiltiy > Repair Disk, and Repair Permissions
(quit and stop if Disk Repair (only) issues a failure and notify us)
Quit and install 10.6 again, reboot and Software Update again, this time download it and then run it. Check Software Update until clear.
c boot off the 10.6 disk and use Disk Utility >Repair Disk again (fixes a bug)
Reboot and check any installed programs, some may not function who have installed kext files into OS X, those need to be reinstalled.
You didn't mention if you upgraded from 10.5 or 10.6.7, the above steps are for fixing a 10.6 to 10.6.8
If you upgraded from 10.5, you should erase the drive in Disk Utility first, then install 10.6 fresh, but then all your programs will have to be reinstalled or updated from original sources.
Also the 10.6.3 upgrade disk has no free iLife, but you can install 10.5 fresh then upgrade to 10.6.3, then to 10.6.8 and then all new programs and that will give free iLife that came on the factory 10.5 disks.
You also can use Pacifist to extract iLife from 10.5 disks.

How to get the iChat Buddy List to automatically appear on the Desktop

On my friends computer iChat is set to launch whenever he logs into his account, but the Buddy List does not appear on his Desktop. So when I see him online there is no green video camera mark next to his name.
If I want to do a screen share with him, I have to ask him to go to the iChat icon towards the right side of the Menubar (the round 'speech ballon') and click on Show AIM Buddy List at the bottom. Once he has the Buddy List on his Desktop, I can screen share with him.
Surely there must be a way for the Buddy List to always appear on the Desktop when logging into his computer... Can anyone help out?

Interesting one.
If I were telling you how to create this it would be like this:-
1) Go to System Preferences > Accounts > Your account and enter iChat in the Login items. (Makes iChat launch at Computer Start Up)
2) to Hide the Window (Buddy List(s) ) at Start Up click the Red Button to close the Window/Buddy List before Quitting.
This will cause the next Start Up to not show th Buddy List.
How you make the Buddy List appear after that depends on how you bring it in to View.
NOTES:
Some Windows in iChat from Buddy List to the Preferences to th Actual Chat Windows will appear in the places you left them for the most part.
The Exceptions are Incoming Invites.
This means the Buddy List will be were you left it, your Outgoing Invite/Preview whilst waiting for Connection will always be where the last outgoing Video Chat window was.
Using the Red Button on a Open Chat Window will end the Chat (All types).
However doing it to a Buddy List only Hides it.
In addition to this using the Item (or the Keystrokes) from the Window Menu of iChat for a Buddy list when it is On view will Hide it (or Bring it back if Hidden)
The Show AIM option in the Menu Bar icon's drop down is a two edge thing as it shows All Buddies (Available ones) from all AIM Buddy lists if you have more than one (Apple names are also AIM Names in this case).
Does he want to change this Behaviour ?
He would be better off using the iChat Window menu (or Keystrokes) after he has clicked the icon in the Dock to bring the app to the Front so he can access the Menu bar with ichat in it.
He could also click and Hold the icon for iChat in the DOCK and select the Account Name there. This, if I remember correctly, will have the same effect as presenting the Buddy List from the Menu Bar icon (it will be hidden at Next Start Up)

Hedings in Header & Contents in Main Area. But before headings they need a Straight line, afterheadings they need another St. line (i.e., between hedings & Contents) after the end of contents they need another st. line.
But in 'TABLE' SAP given 'SAP PATTERN' S are not suitable for this requirement.

How do I view only the desktop with icons and the finder?

I have a hot corner set up to show the desktop.. in Snow Leopard when I exposed the desktop and then clicked on the finder in the dock *just* the finder would show.
Now, with Lion, when I click on the finder it comes into view but all the other open applications come sweeping back in hiding the desktop.
Can I change this back to the way it was before? Or is there another sneaky quick way to show only the desktop and the finder? Set up an entirely different "desktop" in mission control dedicated only to having nothing open in it?
In short: I need a fast way to drag icons from the desktop into folders in the finder. Also, this is driving me nuts.

If you can see a patch of Desktop, with a program (any program other than Finder) window active, hold down both Option and Command and click that patch of Desktop. This will auto-hide all windows for all other programs and switch focus to the Finder/Desktop at the same time.
This works when going from any active program to another, except that the Desktop itself will not get hidden (open Finder folders will get hidden).
To bring a program's windows back to visible status, just click the program's icon in the Dock. For open Finder windows which are hidden, just click the Desktop (plain click).
If you want to hide the windows of just one program, with it the active program hold down just the Option key and click in the window of another program (the Desktop or a folder window counts for this purpose). All windows of the original program will be hidden, and focus will switch to the second program.

How do I restore an application icon to my desktop on my iPhone 4S?

I downloaded an app and it was accidentally deleted from my desktop. Now the only way to open the app is through the App Store under purchased apps. I can't figure out how to get it back onto the desktop.

You can reload the app by going to the Appstore, searching for the App and then re-download it by clicking the Cloud icon. The app will appear on your home screen in the next available slot. You can then move it wherever it was originally.

How do I get to the desktop quickly?

When I have a stack of windows active on screen, I can pick a window by squeezing the side of the mouse. But in this mode, I cannot select any icon that is on the desktop. Is there a shortcut to hide all windows temporarily to expose the desktop? It is easy to do the same on MS Windows. I bet I can do the same on the Apple. I just don't know the trick.

try either F9 (function key) or install ASM. With ASM you can simply click anywhere outside an application window to get to the desktop/hard disk window.

Can't get to the desktop. When I press the Start button, or the combo Command-Ctrl-Start I get the musical cord but no desktop. I always shut it down with the Shut Down command from the Apple menu. Could this be another motherboard problem? The motherboard was replaced in 2007 by an Apple technician. Does a MB only last 2 years? Is there any way I can recover files? There are quite a few I really need. I'm a photographer and can't replace those files.

1. It's unclear from your post: Does anything show up on your monitor? If not, check your connections.
2. It could be a motherboard problem, but the happy mac sound would indicate that it isn't.
3. Yes, it is possible to recover files. How old is your hard disk? Have you backed up your files? If your had disk has failed, recovering your files can get expensive.

I am on OS X Mavericks and I want to change my desktop background so that every new desktop I create has that background, but whenever I change the background, it only changes the background for the desktop I was currently in and all new desktops I create still have the old background. How do you change the background for new desktops?

Create a new Desktop and activate that desktop.
Control click to open the contextual menu>>Change background.
When it opens System preference/Desktop&ScreenSaver but takes you back to Desktop #1, simply drag the SysPreference window to the new Desktop to make the change. You can do this by mission control .

I know cmd-shift-k opens network, but is it possible to just create a shortcut on the desktop ?

You can't make an alias to it but you can do it with AppleScript. Open the AppleScript Editor and paste in the following:
tell application "Finder"
activate
tell application "System Events" to keystroke "K" using {command down, shift down}
end tell
Save it with a suitable name, as an Application, making sure that 'Run only', 'Startup Screen' and 'Stay open' are not checked. Now double-clicking it will open the Network window.

How do I connect to the Desktop of my PC?

I have no trouble networking between my Windows XP on the PC and the mac. However, on the PC, I can only open the "Local Disk" with its folders and files since the Local Disk has the "Sharing" capability. I would like to be able to see the Desktop of the PC when I network from the mac, but right-clicking on the "Desktop" or "My Computer" in Windows Explorer does not show any "Sharing" option. Is there a way to do this?

I can provide feedback on Liveoffice at the moment.
Here is a summary of the steps.
1. Install Liveoffice (once you install this you will see a Liveoffice menu in excel)
2. Create the webintelligence reports (or crystal reports) that fetch the required data.
3. From excel go to Liveoffice >> Insert >> Web Intelligence Content (or crystal)
4. Select the required webi reports/tab/table.
5. This will bring the data into the excel file. (you can set options to refresh your data here within the Liveoffice component)
6. Use this excel file for your dashboard.
7. Insert a Connection Refresh button from Xcelsius.
These are high level steps, you might need more details for setting up connection to the server in question.
I believe you might be able to fish out some more detailed documentation elsewhere on this website.
Yes, it would mean that you have to create all the web intelligence reports in question if you already do not have those.
