How to automatically reconnect to a NAS device when wireless drops..

When my mini sits idle for awhile, the wireless network connection drops. I've read (I thought) that this is a "know/common" problem.
My question is, I have a NAS device connected to my network. Everytime the signal drops, I have to reconnect to the device as it doesn't show on my desktop. Is there a way to make the mini reconnect automatically when I reconnect to my wireless signal?

As a client OS X supports the major two VPN protocols, PPTP and L2TP over IPSec. As a server technically OS X supports both of these too but the difference is this sort of thing was more aimed at OS X Server so there is no nice GUI to work with.
Of course I wouldn't have suggested this if there wasn't a nicer solution at hand. I'm sure there are others too but what I know works (as I use it) is [iVPN|http://macserve.org.uk/projects/ivpn>, essentially a GUI wrapper to the already installed daemons. As far as performance goes it's dependent on both your connection at home and the connection wherever you are but then that would also be the case if trying to access the NAS remotely anyway. I'd also guess this will result in a safer connection too as the file sharing protocols you're using probably aren't concerned about encryption.
The only thing I'd say is I do believe there are issues if both the home network and the place you are at are both using the same private IP range, assuming both locations are behind a router. The reason being if both use the same range how can your machine know when you mean one network and not the other. Careful selection of the IP range at home though can minimise this by choosing a non-standard private IP range. So a lot of home routers, the majority I've come into contact with anyway use 192.168.0.xxx or 192.168.1.xxx. The entire 10.xxx.xxx.xxx though, assuming the router allows you to do so is open and if you pick something in the upper half the chances of both places doing the same has to be very slim.

If they're deleted on the device yuo want to retrieve them from, and you had Photo Stream turned on, then you should be able to get them from another device or computer. Also, it's recommended that photos be synced to a computer frequently (if you take a lot of shots) via USB. The final method is to reset the device and perform a restore. This assumes the photos were in the camera roll. However many users have had problems retrieving photos via a restore. I'd say, if you didn't sync the pics to a computer or don't have Photo Stream active, then the pics are gone.

How to migrate File server to NAS device?

All right so here's the scenario.
An external forest level trust is setup between two forests A & B as recently as we acquired the company B.
Users from forest B were already migrated to domain A.
Now I need to migrate file server from domain B to my domain A but the target where we need to move file shares is a NAS device, so basically we cannot do a simple server migration from domain B to domain A.
We need to copy over the data+ACL+Share permissions from fileserver in domain B to a NAS device in domain A whereas of course ACL permissions on file server present in domain B will obviously be as per source domain user accounts, example ACL permissions
currently will show as "B\user1".
So whats the best way to perform this in order to maintain the permissions & data.
Another question how do we copy share permissions from file server to NAS as I can robocopy the data with security permissions but how to copy over all the share permissions to destination NAS?

iam running lms 4.2.2 and i do not know where to set up lms to resolve the hostname for device identity.
In "Inventory/Manage Devices /Device identity", having the "Device Name", "Hostname" and "IP Address" set to the discovered IP (f.e. 10.100.100.20).
I want that the "DCR Device Name" and "IP Address" is the discovered ip (10.100.100.20), but not the hostname (should look like AS100_Swtich_00-1, as it is set on the switch).
Editing the hostname manually for over 1000 discovered devices will be inefficient...

I have a same problem. i send the screenshot which shows where you can set what will be the preferred device name. ( earlier the sysname checkbox was ON )
Unfortunetly after discover and inventory upgrade jobs the device names are not restored to IP, they keep the hostname as preferred device name.
Now i do not know how can i change these settings automatically.

How to automatically share/mix the audio device?

I'm using Arch with LXDE on a Core i5. The sound card is an Intel 6 series / C200 controller (just a DMA engine, really.) Most programs these days seem to use ALSA. This includes some simple programs I write, as well as utilities like "espeak."
If a program I've written happens to be playing some sound, while I try to use another program (say, "espeak") that also uses ALSA, only the first program works, and the second program errors out. This has all the convenience of using a Sound Blaster under Windows 3.1! :-)
Surely, there exists some configuration option or package or kernel module I can install to make the system mix any and all programs that use ALSA to play sounds? What am I missing?

I used to love hardware mixing sound cards ten years ago, but as CPUs get faster, it's gotten to the point where it doesn't matter, and certain things (like echo cancellation supported at the OS level) really require the OS to be in control.
Regarding re-initializing the device: I don't see why it would take a full second. DMA is fast, codecs are fast. I've written probably ten different sound card drivers in my life, and none has been even close to a second in setup time. However, I'd be perfectly happy if the only cause for going bit perfect is needing to output AC3 to the SPDIF output. For everything else, run the card at 48 (or whatever is preferred) and however many speakers are connected, and convert all the incoming audio. If the card can't detect speakers connected vs not, default to stereo, and let the user configure it if it's wrong. This will make things Just Work (tm)!
To be clear, a reasonable default behavior might be:
0) The lowest-numbered sound card is default, if not user-configured differently.
1) If the default card can detect speakers plugged in, configure itself for that set of speakers. If not, configure itself for stereo, if not user-configured differently.
2) Set the default playback frequency to 48 kHz if supported, else the highest frequency that's supported, if not user-configured differently.
3) When applications open the device, just say "yes" to whatever is requested, and do software re-sampling/mixing to the default format, if not user-configured differently.
4) If applications ask for formats, propose the default playback frequency at the default playback number of channels at floating-point sample format.
5) Use a 7-tap polyphase filter for resampling if not configured differently; this gives a great quality/performance trade-off using SIMD implementations. (15 years ago, we used a 4-tap Hermite interpolator, which had higher distortion and lower runtime cost on Pentium II, but time has moved on :-)
6) If a USB audio device or other hotplug device (such as bluetooth) is plugged in, switch to that device, if not user-configured differently. Note that with software mixing, nothing needs to change for applications that are already playing.
Pulseaudio? That would work, if it actually emulated the device driver interface that most applications actually use to play back sound. And it doesn't *have* to be a user-level process; doing mixing/converting in kernel space is perfectly fine assuming we have decent real-time support now. We don't even need to have interrupts disabled while doing it. Double buffers of 512 samples would be plenty for most cases and still have sufficiently low latency to not annoy game players or movie watchers.
Alternatively, the problem is that Linux applications still use the ALSA audio API rather than PulseAudio. But, given that that's the case, there are totally possible solutions that would make life a lot better on average, and no worse in the corner cases.
This is not rocket science -- it's technology that should have existed 15 years ago, and the fact that the Linux community at large hasn't bothered to solve it is a symptom of an attitude that's a barrier to meaningful desktop Linux adoption in the mainstream. And I'm saying this with love :-)
Is there a shim /dev/audio driver which can re-mix/re-route audio to a real hardware device, based on that device's capabilities? Or would the right dmix setting for alsa actually be able to accomplish this? (I imagine such a dmix wouldn't be able to adapt to things like detecting plugged in speakers/headphones, though)

If you are trying to sync from the Outlook calendar on the PC and you are syncing with iCloud - that is probably why you are getting duplicate entries.
So therefore, if you are getting duplicate entries - it must be syncing the Outlook calendar on the PC.

This certainly implies that the alias is not required to be your registered name, and only becomes the prefix for a new @me.com address. There might be something going on with the servers right now as they are probably very focused on getting ready for the iPhone 5 pre-order release, which is supposed to happen any minute now. You might have better luck if you waited a while.

I'm using a f4v file with dimension 1200x720 and I might upload a 1920x1080 version.

I want to the movie to automatically (down)scale in the browser.
So when I resize the browserwindow and refresh the page, I thought the movie would be resized to the new dimension of the browser-window but it didn't do it.
Maybe I misunderstood what scalemode=letterbox is doing.
By the way I used to generate the code and then paste it in a html file.

I just realized it might have something to do with the fact that the width and height are added in the parameter and at the beginning when the object is declared. Do I need to change that in order for the video to automatically scale.

You can try one work around:
Add another UDF time with plain text field.
Implement post-insert event handler to insert time value in this field. In the event handler you can write the code to put time in the format you want.
