How to avoid duplicate email suggestions in mail?

In my contacts, I have my dad's contact card (Johnny Appleseed) and then his nickname as "Dad". When I open up Mail on my Mac and go to email my him, I always type in "Dad" in the "TO" bar. The first three suggestions are 1) Dad (gives his home email address), 2) Johnny Appleseed (gives his home email address), and 3) Johnny Appleseed (gives his work email address). I generally email the work email address, so I have to manually select that one (instead of just hitting tab). Is there any way to not have both Dad and Johnny Appleseed (home) pop up as the first two results? They're the same person and same email, so why have it there twice?

It appears because your mail app remembers a history of addresses.
It cannot be deleted but I think it will disappear after a certain time.

In the PS module, we allow the deletion of a component pruchase requisition allthough a purchase order exists. The system will send message CN707 "A purchase order already exists for purchase requisition &" as an Iinformation message by design to allow flexible project management.
If you, however, desire the message CN707 to be of type E you have to
modify the standard coding. Doing so, using SE91, you can invoke the
where-used-list of message 707 in message class CN, and to change the
i707(cn)
to
e707(cn)
where desired.
Also, user exit CNEX0039 provides the possibility to reject the
deletion of a component according to customers needs e. g. you may
check here whether a purchase order exists and reject the deletion.

How to delete an email address in Mail

A friend of mine has just changed his email address but I cannot remove his old one from Mail. I have added his new address and removed the old one from my Address book but his old address still comes up as the default when starting a new email to him.
Any ideas would be appreciated...Cheers...

I am trying to join three tables, basically two tables are same one is like history table, so I wrote a query like

but this returing duplicate records.
Could anyone please tell me how to avoid duplicate records of this query.

Actually it is like if the record is processed it will be moved to hist table, so both table will not have same records and I need the record from both the tables so i have done the union of both the tables, so d will have the union of both records.
But I am getting duplicate records if even I am distinct.

No, a control file will not remove duplicate data.
You would be better to use an external table and then remove duplicate data using SQL as you query the data to insert it to your destination table.

Does anyone know if a good app that works in Lion that will help me remove duplicate emails in Mail? There are some options on the web that I've found but they don't seem to work with Lion.

I have found a very satisfactory solution to eliminating my duplicates in Apple Mail, which is to stop using it and switch to Thunderbird.
There's lots that I like better in Apple Mail, but Thunderbird is light-years more flexible in managing your email than is Apple Mail, because Thunderbird is an open platform with excellent Add-ons available, which include the nifty Remove Duplicate Messages: http://bit.ly/tbird-dups. It is stupid that Apple Mail hides duplicate messages in the background & won't allow users to search and destroy them. Frustrating!

Managing my mail locally on my Mac was a huge project for me, involving integrating tens of thousands of emails. Mail was from gmail, yahoo, and many years of Outlook PST files.

Messaging Server automatically creates only one copy of each message per mail partition. It does this by using the filesystem "hard link" feature.
You can check this out:
If you do ls -li, you can see the inode numbers on the individual .msg files.
And even with ls -l, you can see how many links there are to a given file,
it is the number between the permissions and the owner.
And if you use find:
cd <server-root>/<msg-instance>/store/partition/primary/=user/
(or CD to wherever your partition is)
find . -type f -links +1 -ls | sort -n -k 4 -k 1
it will show you all the message files where there are more than 1 copy
of that message (could be different users with a copy of that one message
or copies of that message in multiple folders under the same user).
In this example, I asked to see only those with 3 or more "copies".

How to eliminate Duplicate Email Messages in my Hotmail account

I've noticed that sometimes when I'm checking my Hotmail inbox on my phone I will have duplicate emails of some messages (but not all). Sometimes it will be 2, 3, 4, or even 5 copies of the exact same message (the number seems to vary depending on the day). Sometimes the duplicates are on a string of messages all from the same time frame while other times I only get a single copy of my emails. I can't seem to figure out the pattern of when I get the duplicates. The only thing I am starting to suspect is that perhaps it has something to do with going from one WiFi to another or from WiFi to the 4G network (that maybe it is downloading the messages each time my phone gets on a different network??) Does anyone know how to fix this so I don't get duplicates on my phone? I don't see the duplicates in the Hotmail account Inbox when I log in from my computer, just on my phone.
Also I can't seem to get to the settings like I could on my Droid X where I could indicate that I want to delete the messages from the Inbox if I delete them on my phone. Is it hidden somewhere or is there a trick to making that work? I don't like having to manage my Inbox in TWO places. I'd like to be able to delete it either on my phone or on my computer and have that message deleted in both places.

Are you using the stock e-mail app? If so, try going to your e-mail, then clicking the gear (for Settings). In your Hotmail account, scroll until you find the Incoming Settings, then change Delete E-mail From Server to your preference.
