How to Avoid itunes and nano Wipeout in Move to Mac?

I have a new Mac and transferred over all of my itunes files from the PC to the Mac, and both the PC and Mac are both set up and are within the limit of 5 computers. My nano has been used with the PC and has all of those files on it. Now I want to start using the Mac instead with the Nano.
1) How do I now sync the Nano with the Mac for the first time?
2) If I sync the Nano for the first time with the Mac will it wipe out what is on the MAC or overwrite all of the files I transfered to the Mac?

I have to answer your questions in reverse.
YES, it will REFORMAT the iPod, erasing EVERYTHING.
In iTunes, click on your iPod icon on the sidebar and click on the RESTORE button. It will reformat your iPod for use on Mac. If you are using iTunes 6 or older, then use the iPod Software Updater.

Before you try un-installing iTunes you need to de-authorize the computer (otherwise, as I found out the hard way, iTunes will think that you've got 2 authorized computers on your account instead of just one). You should also make sure that you have full backups of all your media content. You can also back up the iTunes library file which contains your ratings, play counts, etc... which, depending on the size of your library, will save a bucketful of time after the re-installation.
If you've on a pc then the uninstall itself works the same way as if you were uninstalling any other software: go to Add or Remove Programs, select iTunes, click "Remove"... and wait (it'll take a while to complete). Then go to the iTunes website and download it.
After that, you can re-load your media files, and import the library, from your backups. iTunes should work just as well as it did before the re-installation.

You need to set up an Apple ID for use with the iTunes Store before you can redeem anything in the iTunes Store. You don’t need to enter credit card information to redeem only the amount of a gift certificate or card.

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall for the network problem.
Also for the original problem try the following if Ana's suggestions does not work
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer

Select some photos, ctrl-click, select "Hide". Unhide from the Hidden Album.

iI am downloading library books, WMA to Overdrive, then transferring to iTunes/iPod Nano 5th gen.     Problem came when I got a new laptop w/ Windows 8 and installed the Overdrive & iTunes.     Overdrive now tries to transfer directly to my Apple Device ( the Nano 5th) and totally ignores Tunes.   If I look at
Windows Explorer, the book shows on the Nano BUT when I try to see it on my Nano, it's not there.   Not in Albums, or in Audiobooks.   I'm ready to
scream.    Any ideas?

All of my music files are on my external hard drive. I moved my itunes media folder to my external hard drive. I have 150 gig of music and only 25 gig free on my macbook, so I'd like to put it all on my ipod without putting it on my computer, as there isn't enough memory. Every time I try to move the music from my external hd to itunes it starts adding music to my computer's internal hard drive- i thought this would be solved by having my media library in my external hd but it isn't I'm not sure how to get around this.
