How to AWESOME wallpaper on dual monitors?

I have set up two monitors as Screen0 and Screen1 in xorg.conf
I am wondering how to display different wallpapers on these two monitors.
What can I put in my .xinitrc?
thanks

I use both nitrogen and feh. Sometimes I'm connected to a second monitor and sometimes not so I want the right wallpaper restored depending. I use the following in my .xinitrc:
if [ `xrandr | grep -c 3840` -ne 0 ]; then # running dual-head
nitrogen --restore # set different bg on each monitor
elif [ -f $HOME/.fehbg ]; then
eval `cat ~/.fehbg` # set standard single screen bg

miniDisplay to HDMI : How to turn off the Dual Monitor output when the adapter is attached and the TV is off ? And will keeping the adapter connected even if it is not in use, cause damage to the adapter ?

I have my external monitor/tv setup of the left. If I leave the adapter attached with the TV off, I am still able to cross the border/boundry of my MBP screen ! As instead of detecting a TV, the MBP is detecting the adapter as a screen. I do not want to damage my thunderbolt/miniDisplay port by plugging and unpluggin the unit each and every time.

  • How do I setup a dual monitor (ATI fglrx with KDE)?

Hi, I'm trying to setup a dual monitor.. I connected with DVI to DVI and after restarting X the second monitor becomes a mirror/clone of the first (original laptop screen). However, I don't want it to be mirrored. I only want to have windows I drag over to it on the second monitor. How do I do that? In Control Center>Display, I can only choose settings for screen 1, I don't know why it can't find my 2. screen (even though X does).
Here's xorg.conf (I would appreciate if I could stick to only configuring it in Control Center though):
    # xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)

  • How do I display wallpaper across dual monitors?

I have an iMac 21.5 Mid 2011 and my second monitor is a SAMSUNG SyncMaster SA350. My iMac displays the amazing Apple Lion background and the samsung monitor displays the default Apple Galaxy background. How do I stretch across both? I thought maybe I needed a panoramic background, but it didn't move over. Any suggestions? Thanks!
    Brian

    Here's how I do it:
    1. Download application called "Multiscape", click "Softpedia Secure Download (US)" and it will automatically start downloading
    2. Get the wallpaper suitable for your dual screen.
    3. Open "Multiscape"
    4. Drag wallpaper file into the Multiscape and it will automatically display onto the screens.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hi, can someone explain how to setup a stretched wallpaper for dual monitors on my mac pro?

I have an older G5 running 2 27" monitors. I have the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT with 256MB. I cant get a wallpaper to stretch, it just repeats its on both monitors. Im using images that are large resolution, and select the same image when the display box asks on both monitors. First time doing this and couldnt find anything on the forums. I'm probably searchng for the wrong thing. Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

Connect the external drive to the Mac. You can do that while the Mac is on, (If the drive is one that has to be plugged into a wall outlet do that too and turn the power on.) If there is a light on the drive it should turn on.
Now double click on the hard drive icon - top left of the screen of your computer. When it opens look for the Applications folder. Double click that. Next look for a folder called Utilities. Double click. In there you will see a file called Disk Utility.app. Double click on that.
You will now see something like this, with two items on the left. The second one is your new drive.
Select it - one click. And click on Erase - one of the buttons at the top, You will see this.
You must select the Format, it's a drop down - the one shown in the image above is best. You can change the name from Untitled if you want. The name can be changed later if you prefer.
At this point look at the bottom right. There is a button there called Erase. Click on it. Then go get yourself a cup of coffee - this will take a few minutes.

  • How do i fix this dual monitor issue?

I'm trying to use two monitors in Premiere Pro: my main monitor for  my timeline and editing, and the second for putting bin windows on. The issue is when I simply try to click to  play a clip, full screen playback comes up on both monitors and basically freezes. I have to unplug the second monitor to get the monitor to respond.
I am up to date, I have tried checking and unchecking the second monitor playback button in Prefrences > Playback menu, I've restarted the program, and tried restarted my computer.
    please help

this seems to be a new bug, seen a few posts but no solutions. you can try updating video driver.  try changing the renderer to software only, thats in the menu "project settings".  along with the unchecking of the second monitor in playback preferences, make sure the wrench tool icon menu on the program panel has enable transmit unchecked.  do you have any third party plugins or hardware premiere uses? does this happen instantly or just every so often?  computer specs, win/mac, hardware etc.

Still wondering what tool is available in LR 1.1 to "view proof"
As in Photoshop CS 3, and previous versions of PS, in view I can

  • How to discontinue Dual Monitor

I can't seem to figure out how to discontinue using my dual monitors on my G4 OS 9. I installed an additional video card about a year ago for Pro Tools use. I'm now selling the G4, but can't seem to get the monitor to work without both hooked up. Otherwise, I get a blank screen. I've tried mirroring, split, moving the icon happy face, but I'm unsuccessful.

    Hi,
You will need to use an USB to video (VGA, DVI, HDMI) adapter.  If you are using W8 then check with the manufacturer for compatibility.

  • Dual monitor setting on PXI 8108

there is only one DVI port in PXI8108, how can I set up dual monitors?
    Best,
    Sam

    Hi samybae,
You should be able to use dual monitors because the controller uses DVI-I (single link) connectors. This allows you to break the signal out to a DVI as well as VGA connector using a splitter.

  • Systemd as user, dual monitor, awesome, popups (long desc inside)?

Okay, this is quite difficult to describe, so please bear with me.
I run systemd as user and awesomewm on a laptop which is normally plugged in to an external monitor for a dual screen. 64-bit Arch, fully updated, running [testing]
I've got my own homebrew script which basically just runs the appropriate xrandr command to enable all the current connected monitors (since AFAIK we still can't make that happen automatically at plugin/out of the VGA cable).
Additionally (may or may not be related), I run unagi for compositing and animated wallpapers using xscreensaver and xwinwrap. unagi is started as a systemd user service (as is awesome itself), as are the animated wallpapers (basically a homebrew service file calling a bash script). Also, I'm using infinality-bundle from bohoomil. None of this (I think) is important.
Now, not sure when this started happening, because I rarely do this, but if I start my laptop up with the external monitor plugged in, it mirrors the display at a fairly low res (I'm assuming 1024x768) which I don't bother about, because I just hit the keybinding for the above-mentioned script and get my full res dual monitor setup.
However, once this happens, any app which pops up, which in my case is synapse (app launcher), gmrun (launcher, run via xbindkeys) and keypassx (when requesting passwords) will always pop up on the primary screen. If launched from the primary screen, it'll turn up right in the center as expected. If launched from the second screen (on the right), it'll turn up on the primary screen, but centered in position w.r.t the second screen (different resolution) and to the right-most edge of the primary screen.
If I start the laptop without an external monitor and add it later on (plug in and then run xrandr) everything works as expected, popups are centered properly.
If I start awesome using gdm (and external monitor plugged in) it doesn't show the mirrored displays and everything works as expected.
Because of the last two statements, I doubt the awesomewm configuration is the problem, but I can't imagine how to proceed debugging this. Any suggestions?
EDIT: And as usual, immediately after worrying at this for a day and then posting this thread, I found something that 'works'. Restarting awesome in this case fixes it, and it remains fixed thereafter (till the next restart).
This raises another question though, I remember awesome would automatically restart with xrandr screen changes before, why isn't it doing so now? Or is it doing so too early perhaps?

Well shit. I guess I didn't need to do all that other stuff. I only wish I'd known about this before wasting most of my day. Thank you very much, everything appears to be working flawlessly now.

I just bought a 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute any work at all?  I read where on a PC they would work together, but on a MAC they do not.
I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one.  I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
    How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI.  Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870.  That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.
