How to back up a Mixed Mode CD?

Does anyone know how to make an ISO out of a Mixed Mode CD? Disc Utility will only make an ISO from the data part of the disc.
I have some 15 year old games I want to back up before the CD;s goes bad and I lose them forever.

OS X doesn't use the standard /dev/cdrom location for your optical drive. Instead, the /dev/diskXsYY format is used for all disks mounted by the OS.
In order for this to work, you'll have to know where the disk you want is. Getting this info is simple, just open Terminal, and type 'diskutil list' without the quotes. This will give you a text representation of all of the disks you have mounted. To restricted the list to just the physical devices themselves, you can run 'diskutil list | grep -E [\ ]+0:' without the quotes to narrow down the listing. Either way, you're looking for the top level 'diskX' line (NOT diskXsYY) for the disc you are trying to copy.

Depending on how many disks you have mounted, your results will vary. Once you know what disk you're looking for, the path to the disk is '/dev/diskX'.
However, it seems to be irrelevant, because attempting to run 'dd if=/dev/disk3 of=~/Desktop/TMP/Half-Life.iso' with the disk structure seen above yielded an unrecognizable iso file. This is the only disk I have laying around that I know is mixed-media, so YMMV. Good luck!

I'm not sure if you understand that 5 GHz has some upsides, but also some very significant downsides.
The upside is that the 5 GHz signal will allow faster speeds.
The downside is that you must always give up something in order to gain something else.Unfortunately, the marketing hype about 5 GHz does not go into very many details about this.
In the case of 5 GHz, the 5 GHz signals are much weaker than 2.4 GHz signals, so they do not travel as far or penetrate any obstructions like walls or ceilings nearly as well as 2.4 GHz signals. In many cases, in order to get good 5 Ghz performance, you literally have to have almost a line-of-sight relationship between your computer and the wireless router.
If you have a new dual band router, which broadcasts both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal simutaneously, your Mac will connect to the best signal quality automatically depending on its location in relation to the router. In the same room, without any obstructions, it will connec to 5 GHz. But, take the laptop down the hall a few rooms and around the corner and the Mac will connect to the 2.4 GHz signal because at that location, the 2.4 GHz signal is not only stronger, it is also faster.

How setup back the Controller from HA SKU mode into standalone Controller

I have two 5504 Controller. Original Liceses 100 per Controller. At the beginning the Controllers were running standalone as a Primary and secondary in a Mobility domain. Now they are running in a HA Pairing mode. One Controller as the Primary an the second as the Standby in the redundancy HA SKU mode. The first step SSO disable is done.
Question: how setup back the HA SKU Standby-Controller to get again the 100 licenses?

The HA sku will have no license at all. The WLC that is a non HA sku will have a license which is 100 per your post. Now the HA sku can work without AP SSO enabled but there is a time period that it will expire and the AP count is unlimited.
If you lost your license in the non HA sku WLC, I don't know how that would be, you would contact TAC license for that. The HA sku doesn't have any license.

Good day ... As I leave California I am still very puzzled at how Yahoo can hijack my pages while on the internet ...? A friend of mine who lives here is also puzzled at how this is happening. I have taken screen grabs and would video it if that is possible ...? How to Back-Up Mac through Recovery Mode?

I'm not to good with computer terms or stuff like that, so please bear with me. Every time I start up my MacBook Pro, a loading bar comes up and then when it completes, it restarts, with the same thing, a endless cycle of loading bars. So I looked at quite a few threads but couldn't find a specific answer to my problem. I want to do a reinstall of new copy of Lion but back-up my data first (there is only 50 GB). I can start into Internet recovery mode. I did the whole "Verify Disk" in the Disk Utility and it said that "The disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk". In which I click repair disk. But then it says "Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files". All I have is a 500 GB Seagate External hard drive for Mac, no additional Mac or time machine to back up to. So is someone able to give me step by step on how to back-up my data in my specific situation? I tired to create a New Image of "Macintosh HD" but it says "unable to create "Macintosh HD.dmg". (Error -61)". Also, the Macintosh HD is dimmed (grayish) in the left, but I can still click on it. I don't know what that means. Is there also any way to move files in recovery mode through terminal, from the HD to my external hard drive. As a alternative back up?

In order to follow the guides below, you will need access to another Mac and a firewire cable. Your hard drive is failing. If you make an Genuis Bar appointment at a local Apple Store, they will be able to perform this. If you choose the latter, make sure to bring an external hard drive to which your data can subsequently be transferred to once it has been recovered from the failing drive.

If it's in recovery mode, anything on the phone is already gone. Restore the phone using iTunes, then restore it from your last backup. If you've been backing up on a regular basis as intended, you won't lose anything except what's changed since the last backup.

Today I was just installing windows 8 on my Mac. Then I tried to go back to OS X mode, but I don't know how. Please help!!!

You can do it one of 2 ways.
First, in Windows click on the Bootcamp icon in the system tray (it may be hidden) and select reboot in to OSX.
Second way is to reboot the machine and hold down the Alt key after hearing the chime until a boot menu appears. Select Macintosh HD and hit enter.

Make sure that you do not press the Shift key if you start Firefox.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

What is the purpose for the extra folders? I want to be able to revert it back to single folder mode.

You would need to revert to Firefox 3.6.23 to have the old cache setup.
The multiple cache folder setup is to allow for a larger cache which works more efficiently that earlier versions worked.

How to set up headphone mix logic pro x

Trying to figure out how to set up headphone mix in Logic Pro X but cannot get stereo sends.

Maybe this will help, in Logic Pro 9 there was a box under preferences/audio called universal track mode. If you unchecked this box then when settng a send or creating a aux track you had the ability to select mono or stereo busses. Logic Pro X doesn't seem to have this. So when creating a aux channel with output stereo 5-6 I can't select stereo thus I can't create sens to the left or right side of this aux channel for headphone mixes. In Logic Pro 9 I can create a stereo aux channel with bus 1-2 output 5-6 (to headphone amp) I can then use sends to send musical instrument to bus 1 (left side) and vocals to bus 2 (right side). I hope this helps I just want to know if this function is still in Logic Pro x or we have to go back to OLD SCHOOL way of doing this.

How to Further Diagnose with Safe Mode

Hello,
I am having a Finder crash problem that is corrected with a boot into Safe Mode. At least i am up and running again. However, my problems aren't completely fixed...
So, how can I further use Safe Mode to track down the root of the original problem? Is there some way to see what items were NOT loaded via Safe Mode in comparing before/after actions? Wow, this brings back tortured memories of Conflict Catcher in Mac OS 9 days!

If everything works in Safe Mode, then it is likely a third-party extension, login item, or launchAgent/Daemon.
There is nothing like the Extension Manager or Conflict Catcher.
You can see the loaded extensions in System Profiler. It will also list startup items, but not the currently used LaunchAgent and LaunchDaemons.
For those things, look in your Login items in Accounts system prefs, and the LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons folders in both your user Library and the root /Library. Anything non-apple could be the problem.

then the post, the fasttrak bios, the scsi card bios, everything that my machine runs before starting..........finally the WINDOWS XP PRO screen booting up...........then suddenly a BSOD (blue screen of death), telling me that it was stopping due to new installed software or hardware, blah, blah blah stop at code 0x93c3487…. !!!....................................... ......................... 8o 8o 8o 8o 8o 8o ?( ?( ?( ?(

I think Wxp pro, 2 processors & mouseware from Logitech are not good combination!
Logitech: I won’t buy anything from them again, the box the mouse came in has a legend telling you: over 10 million Cordless mice Sold!! (Yeah, that´s right for uni processor machines, maybe)
I ´m still learning things about my dual processor machines: they do not like everything that is designed for uniprocessor machines!!!
A dual processor machine is something fast, more than one processor has to be better in many aspects. But again, not everything is designed for a dual processor machine.
Does anyone know how to back up your profile in Wxp pro????

Profiles are stored on your system drive, in the folder called "Documents and Settings". Open it up and look for the subfolder with your account name. That's what you want to back up.
