How to back up iPad Air?

I think i made a mistake when i bought the 16 Gb iPad Air. I've only had it a week and the HD in it is already half full, so i am thinking of returning it and buying the 32Gb version. I already have a number of apps on it, plus about 200 images.
This is my first ipad, and my first experience with iOS, and i have no idea how to back the iPad up. Would someone please either explain or point me to a website that explains. Also, if i back this iPad up and purchase a new 32 Gb model, will i be able to download the backup to the new iPad?
Thanks..

You will have to restore your iPad. If you never synced with iTunes or do not have access to a computer, you may have to put the iPad in recovery mode.

  • How to enable my ipad air coz of wrong password and Findmy ipad air is on

How to enable my ipad air because of wrong password and i cannot recover or restore my device coz Find my ipad setting in my device is on. Itunes said this must be off before anything, but i cannot turn it off in setting because device is disable. Help me

    Try DFU mode:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • How much RAM will Ipad Air have?

How much RAM will Ipad Air have and will it be sufficent?

    Jason899 wrote:
Its just apple tend to give their devices the minimum RAM they can as a sort of a limiting factor, ive had my Ipod touch 4 for 3 years now and its virtually useless now because of the lack of RAM they put in them and i dont want to be paying over 600 pound for something thats not going to run good apps after two years because theres not enough RAM.
Well, any mobile computing device you buy is technically obsolete within a year or less of being released - for any company's products that's true.  And with all of these all-solid state devices, you cannot update the RAM or the storage, so they basically remain useable and supported as long as they do - there really is nothing you can do to avoid that sort of situation.  Smart phones and tablets are evovling at an almost frenetic pace, so nothing in that arena is going to be compatible with the operating systems and apps of newer future devices for very long.
You can maintain your own device's usability for longer by making sure to keep backups of apps & versions of apps that you know do run on your device so you will not be left behind if an App store update drops support for your device and removes the older app version.
And as far as iOS devices, I don't agree that Apple only installs the minimum RAM.  The amount of RAM is going to be based on a number of factors - the capability of the mobile cpu being used, the footprint of iOS and the built in functions, the typical RAM usage of known iOS 3rd party apps, the size of battery(s) available to fit in the space available, the added cost of additional RAM and any number of additional parameters.  In a device like a tablet or smart phone, every single component that goes into them involves some trade off or compromise.

  • How set up new ipad air with mail messages from old ipad 2?

How do I move mail from wife's old ipad 2 to her new ipad air 2?  After that I will clean off the old ipad and use it myself.

Before erasing the old iPad 2 make a backup in iTunes or back it up to iCloud. Then when you setup the new iPad you will be given the option to restore from a backup.

  • How to restore new ipad air from old ipad backup using itunes.

I'm trying to get all of the content from an old iPad onto new iPad air. I backed up the old iPad on iTunes, and when I plug in the new iPad air, it prompted that I must first update the software in order to back it up. I updated the software, but now I'm not sure how to get the old iPad backup onto the new iPad because it isn't seeing the new iPad as brand new anymore. How to I transfer the old stuff onto the new one after updating the software? I'm using iTunes for Windows.

    Hey jh232808,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to restore a backup to a new iOS device. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
    Restore using iTunes
Use these steps if you have a new iOS device, or you need to to restore after a factory reset:
Connect your device to the computer that has your backup.
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Choose File > Devices > Restore from Back up.
You won't be able to install a backup that uses a later version of iOS than the device you're trying to install it on. Find out why.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a good one,

  • Can we use time capsule to back-up IPAD air ?

I Just bought a time capsule 3 TB with the intention of doing backup of my 2 IPAD air and also to back up an existing Asus Laptop whcih runs on windows 7 ? How do we run either time machine or  else to accomplish this.

You cannot directly backup an iPad to TimeCapsule. You can backup the iPads to iTunes on your Computer, and then use backup software to backup your computer to the Time Capsule whihc would include your iTunes library and as such the iPad backups .
There is no TimeMachine for Windows. But any number of Windows backup packages can backup to TimeCapsule / Network Drives

  • HT4437 How do I play ipad air movies on my tv

I'm trying to play back videos & movies on my ipad air to my tv using a lightning to 30 pin adapter to an apple red, white, & yellow RCA output cable. I'm not getting a signal on my tv. What am I doing wrong? Additionally, I don't see a setting for video out controls.

    Hello, Docb45.
Thank you for the questions.  Unfortunately, video output is not supported with the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter.  The best option for this would be the Lightning Digital AV Adapter.  Here is some information regarding this adapter.

  • How to connect an iPad Air 2 to a TV?

I recently bought an iPad Air 2 (my first iPad so it's all new to me), so I was wondering if it's possible to connect the iPad to a TV?
I've found a few cables that look like they'd do the job but I thought I'd get some advice before I spend my money - I'm not that fussed on getting apple TV though. It would be good if the sound as well as video came from the TV, rather than the iPad. This cable looked great but it has a connection for an older iPad model: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC748ZM/A/apple-composite-av-cable?fnode=3a
So I'm guessing I might need 2 cables? One for the video and another for the sound which goes from the headphone input to the TV?
Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance,
    Steve

Assuming your TV has an HDMI port, you will need this: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=f 51cb89ff873755a89cb79413ab9043a571538daf36f4d509f47017c61b2b768e4fd734ccbe39eddd 0d7ec701d327a63380d1e69b0172fcd4db7f86b9b432836efb45c46d032738ef79344100d084ab30 4d9524d7b3d75523f512fb49073c6503d1fbd83a4358d24a38ee66d65484867&fs=f%3Dipad6gen% 26fh%3D4098%252B43dd
And an HDMI cable. It should handle both audio and video.

  • How to back up iPad files away from home?

One can obviously back up iPad files away from home by uploading them to a server in the clouds, but it appears that there is no way to back up iPad files locally when not connected to a computer. What if I'm shooting photos and video while traveling and editing them on my iPad? Uploading gigabytes of data to a web server would be really painful! When I asked this question at my local Apple Store, it was obvious that Apple had not briefed their store employees on this issue.
As far as I can see, the iPad aspires to be far more than a home entertainment unit, as well it should. But the bottom line is that you've gotta be able to back up your work. Does anyone have any thoughts on this issue?

Some aspects yes via MobileMe such as contacts, mail etc which should already be in the Cloud or on another remote server somewhere.

    Correct, subject to the above.

Remember they have had the iPad less time than you Not an excuse but something to consider. Your point is well made though. Thats why its not a replacement for a laptop and has been stressed repeatedly to be so.

Yes, its not a laptop replacement so your expectations are great, but not something that the architecture could support. Once Apple get the MobileMe/iDisk thing sorted out to allow storage on that from the iPad it will be fine. Until then, its 'just' a mobile entertainment device as advertised and it will never be a replacement for a laptop.
