How to back-up music library and purchased songs in iTunes 10.5? (no "Back Up  to discs"

Before I can back up by going to File-Library and "back up to discs". On itunes 10.5 there are no "back up to discs" Thank you

you can only transfer itunes purchases from ipod to itunes. any other music will need third party software. google 'transfer music from ipod to computer' or something similar, there is plenty out there.

Connect the iPod to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side you can use the Music tab to select which of your music that you want on the iPod.

  • HT4527 I had a music library of purchased songs from Apple on my computer which had to have the Windows program reinstalled, all of my purchases are gone but they are all on a new IPad, I want them back on my computer, how do I do this????

I had a music library of purchased Itunes on my Windows 7 computer.  I had to reinstall the operating system and I have installed Itunes again.  My library is gone but it is on my new IPad 2 which I am not sure how it got there, but I do not know how to get it back on my computer where I would like to use it with other programs or to burn discs.  What did i do wrong or how do I do this??  Someone, please HELP.

Thank you, I do not know if I have a IPad to computer cable to connect, I have looked and cannot find one but will keep checking.  This must be the answer.  Thanks so much.

  • Backing up music library and keeping album art

I am getting ready to format my computer and want to make sure that when i am up and running again all i have to do is install itunes and my backed up music over and will be good to go. For alot of my music i had to add my album art manually. I saved the image for the album off the web and than dragged and dropped it into the bottom left hand corner for the album art section in the play list. How can i ensure that i am not going to have to do it all over again when i import my music folder after re-format?

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking about actually backing up "my music" folder in "my documents" in Word rather than just copying the tracks, but I don't know how to back up other than by just dropping and dragging the tracks onto a CD. I have searched in Microsoft Office help but there is no reference to backing up. Is burning them onto blank cd's the quickest way? Also if I need to get them back off the cd and put them back onto the computer can that be done and if so how and would it be done using the Creative software or just Explorer or My Computer?

  • Old 2005 Video iPod - How do I take music off and add to my iTunes music library?  And battery life issues...

I bought my husband a Video iPod clear back in 2005.  I bought the 30GB serial No 4V544C1WTXK Model number A1136.  Yes, very, very old.  However, it is an Apple product and therefore should be good forever right?    We actually rarely used it then and have not used it in years.  I got it out and brushed it off the other day.  I have two questions:
1-  I have some great music on it that I would like to transfer into my iTunes music library.  Is there a way to move it from the iPod into my iTunes library?
2-  It isn't really holding a battery charge even when it's been charging for hours.  Is there anything I can do about that?  Do I need to replace the battery?  Is there even a way to replace the battery?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

2-  It isn't really holding a battery charge even when it's been charging for hours.  Is there anything I can do about that?  Do I need to replace the battery?
Given the age of the device and that fact that it wasn't used for a lengthy period of time, it's likely that the iPod's battery is shot and in need of replacement.  Lithium-ion batteries need constant activity in order to maintain any sort of charge.  However, all batteries generally deteriote over time and lose their ability to charge.
Is there even a way to replace the battery?
Yes.  You can choose to have Apple swap the battery for a new one for the price indicated on this page.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
You could also choose to send it to a third party service instead to have them swap it out at a much lower cost.  A Google search for "iPod battery replacement" should give you a number of results to work with.

  • How do I download music I have purchased (currently on iTunes Match) onto my hard drive so I can sync to my iPod

A couple of years ago i uploaded all the music on my hard drive onto iTunes Match.  At that point I synced my iPod classic with the music on my hard drive.
Since then I have purchased lots more music that is now stored in iTunes Match rather than my hard drive.  When i go to sync my iPod clearly its not picking up any new music as its not on my hard drive.
Is is possible do my new music (the stuff I have bought on other devices and is within Ituens match) onto my hard drive so i can udte and sync my iPod?
    Mant thanks

You can copy iTunes purchases from your iPad to your computer's iTunes by connecting the iPad to it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
You might also (depending upon what country that you are in) be able to redownload them directly on your computer's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage

  • I have been purchasing songs on itunes for a year. I just got a new computer and I synched my iphone to it. I had over 100 songs, now I have only 10. Where did my music go and how can I get it back?

I have been purchasing songs from itunes for the past year. I have over 100 songs. I recently got a new computer and I synched the iphone to it. I can't find 90% of my music. Where is it and how can I get it back? I checked itunes under purchased and it only shows 13 songs. Please help.

You can only sync with one computer. When you synced to the new computer it would have erased it and synced what was on the new computer.
You always need to have a backup, an iPhone is not a storage device.
When you get a new computer you need to transfer your library before syncing
If you don't have a backup you may be out of luck
The only thing would be if you're in the US and have access to the iCloud beta to reload purchases

    Backup drive?
    Subscribe to iTunes Match?
If neither of the above and you don't have the CD and can't find your tracks on the computer then they you're stuck.  A file recovery utility will cost $100, plus another $100 for an external drive to which to resue the files, and may not even work.  You can buy a lot of CDs for $200.
