How to backlight my keyboard?
Got a Macbook Air and I have tried to find how to backlight my keyboard. Under preferences - keyboard it does not offer me the option of backlighting. So how do I find out and where can I switch it on? Thanks for any help
Looks like I can answer my own question. My MBA not only cannot backlight the keyboard - major disadvantage for me - it neither offers the option of ambient light adjustment.
Dropping those features consumes more of my time - I make more mistakes typing (and yes, I can type 'blind' but since I'm typing on a 'English' keyboard that has to be set up for German typing, I sometimes have to able to quickly see the keys properly to remember which key is which in German) and have to adjust the brightness. I switched form Windows because I was tired of wasting my time - so this is certainly annoying when Apple is doing that too - for no good reason as far as I can see.
Please Apple, do give me and other users enough credit. We really are intelligent enough to turn features on and off when we want them. Just taking them out will make me wonder what I will have to do without when buying Apple next time around. This is the wrong way of saving energy or whatever the excuse is! I don't think I would have bought the MBA without backlight if I had known. It is just too timeconuming for me.

N97 Auto Rotate and Backlight of Keyboard
Normally the backlight of keyboard will turn on when the keyboard is open and screen will auto rotate. However, the following situation will trigger the backlight of keyboard when the keyboard remain close:
1. Auto-rotate display: On.
2. Sensors: On.
3. Then turn the phone so that screen rotate from portrait to landscape.
This happen on my N97 with firmware 21.0.045.
Is it a bug?how do you see back light on actual keyboard when you don't slide it out? the device is close up and i can't see on the keyboard so i can't notice if there is back light on keyboard when screen rotate vis versa from landscape mode to portrait mode. I have
1. Auto-rotate display: On.

I have some problem. I have MacBook Pro (early 2011), i7. Some days ago I upgrade my MacBook OS to Mountain Lion (clean install). In Snow Leopard I can turn off the backlight of keyboard, and then it will be off. If I need it, I turn it on. But now I have another situation. I turn off my backlight, but after log off user, or restart MacBook backlight of keyboard turns on... Whats happen?!

Kyros.Lab Tick is a shareware menu item that gives you complete control over the keyboard backlight. You can set the level of illumination by hand, and electively disable automatic adjustments made by the OS.

In the power options in the Windows control panel you will have a choice as to what happens when the lid is closed. Set it to "do nothing" and then you can shut the lid of the laptop and use only the external monitor.

Go to system preferences/language & text/input sources and check the box for Keyboard Viewer. Then select Keyboard Viewer from the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen. It will show all the special characters you can make when you press the alt and alt + shift keys. -
Help! How to hide the keyboard in app...
I was bidding on an item in the free ebay App (provided by Ebay v 1.6.1 and the keyboard would not hide and I could not place a second bid. I had made one successful bid and then on a second bid (about 2 minutes later) the keyboard would not go away and I could not submit the bid - only enter a dollar value. It was beyond frustrating watching the time tick down and not being able to place a bid.
Please someone tell me how to hide the keyboard. I tried everything I knew how - tapping the screen, shaking the iphone, exiting out and coming back in and refreshing the app. Nothing would get the keyboard to go away and allow me to touch the submit bid button.
Thanks in advance and SORRY in advance if this is in the wrong forum!Well the ability of how the keyboard shows and hides is a function of what the developer of the app made. Sounds like a bug in their program or just bad usability.
This is a topic to discuss with eBay as they developed the app. Their code has to control how things happen. Normally leaving a field to type in will make it go away, but if they didn't provide a way to leave focus, then that is a usability issue on their part. -

If you did and no keyboard is showing: Do a reset
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
If that didn't helped, double tap Home button, delete the Message app and reset again. -

Hi, I've checked how to use Kannada keyboard in Yosemite. But, there are some 'vattu forms' and other grammar in Kannada language that I don't know how to use it. I know how to change between the keyboards and can also view keyboard. However, For eg, 'Preetiya taatanige nimma muddu mommagalu maduva namaskara' How to write this? If anybody can answer this, very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your reply.In general, you need to use the "f" (kannada qwerty keyboard) or "d" key (kannada) between letters to make special forms. Also you may need to adjust the typography settings of the font, which is done by doing Format > Font > Show Fonts > Gear Wheel > Typography as shown below. If you can provide screenshots or more detailed info on things you cannot make, I can perhaps help.
It is important to note that MS Word for Mac does not support Indic scripts -- any other app should work OK. -

question 4:How it appear on iMac windows 8?If you are using a keyboard made by Apple, then you should normally choose US(Apple) keyboard to make sure that all the characters are typed the way they appear on the keys. If for some reason you are using a Windows keyboard, then you should normally use US instead of US(Apple).
The two versions exist because there can be differences between Apple and other keyboards.
It is not a good idea to "remove" anything. For info on how to deactivate a keyboard in a Windows system, you need to consult the Help for that system or ask in a Windows forum.
