How to backup DPF Database

Dear Experts,
We planned to upgrade or BI system from viper to cobra, prior to the activities we'd like to have a full backup of the database. Please provide us the command to run the backup with DPF is utilized, and also the restore command as well.
Thanks for your kind reply.
Regards,
Rudi

Hello Rudi,
the command you might want to have ist the following:
"db2 backup database <db_name> on all dbpartitionnums to /<backup_directory> "
You're also able to backup specific partitions. To have an overview of all options, please refer to the [DB2 9.5 Documentation page of the BACKUP DB command|http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r5/topic/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.cmd.doc/doc/r0001933.html?resultof=%22%62%61%63%6b%75%70%22%20]
Now the restore. In my opinion at backup time there's on file each partition created. According to that you must restore every partition seperately with the "db2 restore db to </path>" command. ([Refer to this page|http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r5/topic/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.cmd.doc/doc/r0001976.html?resultof=%22%52%45%53%54%4f%52%45%22%20%22%72%65%73%74%6f%72%22%20%22%44%41%54%41%42%41%53%45%22%20%22%64%61%74%61%62%61%22%20])
I will check that and correct it if this might be not true.
I hopethis helps you for now.
Best regards,
Marcel

    But i am not able to understanb how the backup server synch with the primary server, here i am not talkig about the Standby database.
    So is there any utility which can be used to backup.You have to read Backup recovery guide.Did you enable BLOCK CHANGE TRACKING? .Need troubleshooting rman backup process.Using RMAN is good and best way.Do you use optimization?.Also you can update standby database with incremental backups. Please refer below doc and investigate your problems.

    is there anything i need to configure before it backups in this mode.

    why you dont need to turn on the archivelog?
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 1
    how many days back you are responsible to revert back the database?Someday It may be asked to you restore the some days before dataabase backup, before that raising the question ,raise the question to mangment personnel how many days back will i be responsible to restore the database,if they give you 7 days then make sure yours disk space can accomodate 7 days backup if not then ask them to arrange space for disk if they give alternate tape cartrdige then tell them that x hours will take to restore the database in disaster recovery scenario cause tape cartridge data restoration takes time.
    No archive mode is yours decision then before doing it aware managment personnel that i can only restored the last good backup data,good backup does not mean last backup,last backup may be corrupt ,last good backup is the backup which you can restore then you will be able to restore only till last good backup,with archived enabled you will have chance to recover till before crash but with no archivelog there is only one option recovery till last good backup.

  • How to backup all database settings and data for SOA suite to file(s) ?

    During the installation of the SOA Suite a couple of tables and schemas are created
    in Oracle database through the irca.bat script.
    Later the tables are filled with content by all the servers and services of the
    SOA Suite.
    How can I backup all these tables and SOA related stuff to one (or more)
    files (for a possible later restore)?
    This backup should contain only SOA Suite related tables and data.
    Possible other tables (for other applications) should not be considered.
    Is there a script (e.g. for sqlplus) or menu which does the
    SOA database backup job for me ?
    If there is no official backup script maybe someone in this forum
    wrote a personal script.
    Thank you
    Peter

    I am facing the same problem.
    I have spend a few days to configure and train my Sony tablet to configure for all my remotes such as aircon and lighting. I did a backup using the Sony companion to my PC. When my tablet was faulty and serviced. But the backup did not recover the IR remote settings and codes which I programmed previously. I also tried your backup restore app but it also does not save the configuration.
    It is VERY IMPORTANT for me to backup the settings.
    Please provide the folders and path of where the IR REMOTE settings and personal configuration and codes trained were kept so that I could back them up. Are these path protected area that required rooted access?
    Hope that Sony could update the app to include backup of new trained codes and settings and in the meantime to provide a procedure of how to backup the setting and trained IR codes with or without rooting the device.

    My question is:
    Can any folk tell me the specific steps (command by command) to backup a single database instance in Oracle using RMAN ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
    Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. My database instance named HRCS90 is going to be backed up. My backup directory is /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90.
    If database in open state, we must back up in archive log. If database in mount state but not open, we can back up in noarchive log.
    I have tried to back up HRCS90 in archive and noarchive log when database in mount state but not open as below:
    SQL>startup mount;
    SQL>exit
    [user@linux bin]$./rman

  • How to backup ARD database/settings/etc

    I'm about to test Boot Camp on my one-and-only iMac (others are in classrooms and I can't trash them) and would like to know how to backup my ARD database, its settings, and the scripts, etc, that I have created in ARD before testing Boot Camp.
    How do I completely backup (and restore) ARD?

    In your home folder Library/Preferences/ you want to back up
    com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    (To verify that this is the file, try making a change to your ARD Admin setup, say create a new list, and note that the file changes its date modified.)

  • How to backup MSSQL  database in ECC6

    Hi guys, i am doing patching for our internal ECC6 server. So i need to backup the database before run the patches. I have onliy done database backup in Oracle using Brtools. So i am not familiar with Ms Sql Server backup. Can anyone tell me step by step to do this backup and send me link or screen shot or any type of documents or guidence which help me to resolve this issue. I really appreciate a prompt reply from you guys. Would like to thank you in advance.

    Hello,
    you have to ensure that the SQL Server service (which is performing the backup) can access the share. To ensure this, start the SQL Server with an account that has enough rights on the share (domain user with write rights). You then should be able to create a backup device for the network share with
    use master
    exec sp_addumpdevice 'DISK','MyNetworkShare', '
    server\sharename\path\filename.bak'
    Then you should be able to perform a backup via DB13 to this device or directly with TSQL running
    backup database <SID> to MyNetworkShare
    Best regards

  • How to backup oracle database in C# application

    Hi,
    Could anyone please tell me about a full script that will backup my Oracle XE "Express" database. I have user schema and it has tables with data and I want to backup them. I hope someone tell me how. I want to do it inside a button so it can be easy for me to just press on button and it will continue its job. Thank you very much for your help.
    Any method is appreciated from you. So I just need the way that I can do it. In Oracle forms I used to use exp but in C# I don't how.

    ok
    Even this is ODBC forum, you could check for $ORACLE_HOME/bin/Backup.bat ... analize that script. You could call it from c# with Process Class, and process.startinfo.

  • How to backup RMS database to PC?

    Hi! Is it possible in j2me to backup the internal RMS db in the device to a PC for example?
    My main objective is to transfer the db to another device but j2me doesn't support infrared. Therefore, my last resort is to save the internal db of a Java-enables phone/palm to the PC and transfer it to another device from the PC again.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
    You can use Oxygen Phone Manager.
    Note: Only works for Nokia/Symbian phones.
    You can backup everything.....
    I recommend...

  • Backup UDB DPF Databases

    Hi,
    i try to backup a DPF Database via trx db13 but there is no way to make it.
    The standard backup actions shown in the action-pad are only for single partition databases. Because the db13 do not support event-control i am not able to use single jobs for each partition to run one after another. Time oriented control is no
    constitute alternative to backup DPF databases.
    How do you think i should backup the database?
    Best regards, Tino

    Hi Waldemar,
    yes you are right, i can generate a backup command using the "CLP Script Maintenance" in NW2004s. But i am not able to use the recommended commands...
    db2_all "<<+0< db2 backup database lxd to /backup/LXD"
    db2_all "|<<-0< db2 backup database lxd to /backup/LXD"
    ...because the CLP do not support db2_all.
    The SAPGUI delivers the opportunity to generate a script for every node and let this scripts run from the Planning Calendar - but i am not able to let them run in parallel. A bad lapse if i handle with bigger databases.
    The second problem i realize is that it's not supported to define relationsships between the end of one backup (backup catalog node) and the beginning of the other nodes - no event controle implemented!
    My impression is still the same.. i am not able to plan a full backup for DPF databases using the db6cockpit.

  • How to backup more than one database using powershell

    I am Trying to backup more than one database using the following script but no luck. I want user to type on command line the database they want to backup, e.g all databases that have "test" at the front like test.inventory, test.sales so i want

        $dbToBackup = "test.inventory"

         $dbname = $db.Name
         $dt = get-date -format yyyyMMddHHmm #We use this to create a file name based on the timestamp
         $dbBackup = new-object ("Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Backup")
         $dbBackup.Action = "Database"
         $dbBackup.Database = $dbname

  • How to backup an oracle database?

    I am running a oracle server on a windows box.
    using the oracle 92 management console and developer tools.
    Can someone instruct me on how to create a "job" that will backup my oracle databases on a daily basis?
    I am more used to MS-SQL and have no clue how to do it in Oracle.

  • How to recovery the database from a complete backup

    I have a 10.2.0.3 database with archive log enabled.
    I do a cold backup of database every Sunday night.
    I shutdown the database, copy all the database files, control files and redo logs to a backup disk.
    Then the database started and running again.
    I am trying to test my backup and make sure I can recovery the database to the most current stage using the Sunday backup and the archive logs.
    for example: use the backup from 4/01/2012, recover the database to today 4/04/2012 9:00am.
    What's the steps of doing this?
    I tried to copy all the Sunday backup files to the correct location, start the database, the database is started successfully. However, I don't know how to apply the logs from since the Sunday backup upto now.
    Thanks a lot!

    hi,
    rman is your friend to do backups, restores and recovers of database.
    to do a full recover of database, for example to do a test on your current test database (no in crash):
    rman time:
    startup nomount;
    restore controlfile;
    alter database mount;
    sql now
    select archivelog_change#-1 from v$database;
    then go back to rman and do the following :
    RMAN> run{
    2> set until scn xxxxxx;
    3> restore database;
    4> recover database;
    5> alter database open resetlogs;
    6> }
    **where xxxxx is the result of your sql query
    HTH
    --edit:
    forgot to told that You will need to set your ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID env variables
