How to backup EVERYTHING in E71?

Hi,
I have two E71. I need to SWAP everything between the two including contacts, sms, data, applications (if possible).
Please advice as to how to go about the same.

Do a full backup with first phone , then do a restore with the other ! Personally I'd just sync Contacts, Calendar and notes using my Ovi account (you need to sed setting to phone to set up a sync profile in connectivity settings, and install everything else manually . If your apps were free just re-install, if paid, they will be tied to IMEI number so may not work on new phone anyway ?
Good Luck

  • How to backup everything in my iPhone?

Is there a way to backup everything including apps and settings to my desktop for later restoration?

Yes, I did read the instruciton and I don't see a way to tell where to save my backups to that's why I'm asking the question.
The article tells you where the backup will be saved. There is no setting to change it.
    "On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    On Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    On Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\"
It's kinda dumb for iTune to not offer me an option to where I want to save my backup to. Let's say that it's saved in my "C" drive. If my computer is dead where can I restore my backup from then.
You restore your "C" drive from its backup. Then you can restore the iPhone. Why are you so concerned about the iPhone backup when your "C" drive is gone? It's unlikely that the iPhone will need restoring at just that time. You should be more concerned about always having a good backup of your "C" drive.
In addition, what about all my imported musics? Is there a way to specify where the imported music can be saved to? If the default is "C" drive and no option to specify a location that I want, I think it's pretty dumb.
The music is not saved in the iPhone backup files. Any music on the iPhone is already in the iTunes music library on your computer (music purchased using the iPhone will be copied to the iTunes library when syncing), so doesn't needs to be in the iPhone backups. The iTunes music library (probably on your "C" drive, but can be set elsewhere via iTunes preferences) will be backed up during your normal backups of the computer hard drive(s).

  • External Hard drive help: use with mac and pc? how to backup everything etc

Hello! I need some help regarding a new external hard drive I got from OWC. It is a 500 gb firewire 400 + usb 2.0 7200 rpm hard drive. I am running it from firewire. The software suggests the first thing you do is make a clone of your macbooks internal hard drive, that way if it fails later you can use the external to back everything up. If I do this ...
    1. do I have to make the drive "Bootable" ? I have software called Data Backup 3 by Pro soft I think. It came with my external.
    2. Can I still back up other stuff like my audio recordings and record onto that drive to a seperate folder?
    3. If I make a bootable copy will it try and boot from the drive everytime I turn it on or something?
My other question is... how can I use this drive with a pc? I have a pc as well and I heard that the only way it will work is to format it in ms-dos mode (fat32?)
If I write it to fat32 will it slow down my drive or make it worse? I heard that you should format external drives specifically for mac if you have a mac; so it will only work with macs...
(sorry this is going on and on; it's like a chain reaction of questions)
so If its formatted to mac drive format then can I do this with my current situation:
    1. I have wireless internet, the router is on a pc downstairs
    2. Can I send files over a network somehow from the pc to my mac
    3. then store it on my external?
If so can someone point me in that direction with a link?
Thank you for reading, sorry for making this so long.

    1. No, you don't have to make a bootable clone.
    2. If you use the drive for a bootable backup, then you cannot use the drive for other types of storage unless you partition the drive and make more than one volume.
    3. No, it will not try to boot the computer. You must designate the startup volume using Startup Disk preferences.
If you wish to use the drive on both a Mac and a PC, then either you make two partitions - one for Mac and the other for the PC or you must format the entire drive using FAT32 so the drive can be used for read//write by both operating systems. If you do this then you cannot use the drive for a bootable backup nor can you use it with Time Machine.
FAT32 is slower for read/write on the Mac than using Mac formatting.
Optimally, I would suggest you partition the drive into two volumes. One volume formatted for the Mac and the other formatted FAT32.
You can send files from a PC to a Mac and vice-versa using File Sharing. Select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "file sharing" or "sharing" to find help articles. Also see,

  • How to backup EVERYTHING

    Hello,
this is a sad day for me. I have accidentally dropped my 6 years old 17 inch powerbook and its screen has cracked. Apart from that it seems to be working fine, but I'm afraid that it is not going to live for long.
So I would like some tips on how to back up everything such as mails, preferences, bookmarks etc....in order to transfer them to my ext hard disk and then to my future laptop (I'm planning to buy soon a 15in Macbook Pro).
My current specs are OS X 10.3.9, (no dvd/cd drive, it stopped functioning a while ago)
    Please help!

you may want to use external hard drive and another Mac with 2 FireWire ports
    and OS 10.4 installed.
connect PowerBook to another Mac in "target mode":
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
also, connect the external hard dirve to secpnd FireWire port.
then use Disk Utility on the host Mac, select Restore option and make exact copy of your PowerBook's drive to the external (make sure the PowerBook is a "source", and external drive is a "destination")

  • How can I backup everything I have on my Zen Micro

How can I backup everything I have on my Zen Micro (playlists and music, etc.)
Everytime you need to update the firmware it deletes everything in your player and you have to make everything you had in it all over again. I know I have to transfer everything again, but you have to make the playlists all over again and that's kinda hard...

Faith: To backup the files you can either sync or simply do a manual copy of the files to the PC. You might want to take a look in the Appendix of my?Nomad Primer which has some advice about backing up.
You can't backup playlists with the Creative software, but Notmad Explorer will back them up.

  • How do i backup everything on my iphone 4

i am a new iphone user and my new phone is defective.  how can i backup everything that i have created and saved on my verizon iphone?  i am transferring to a replacement iphone.  i have read way too many support pages that clearly fail to properly address this issue.  and please dont mention anything related to itunes sync as it doesn't save many things.  i need to backup my call log, text messages, to do lists created with 3rd party apps, facebook settings, photos (they disappeared when i did a restore, luckily i did a manual backup of those), microsoft exchange settings, favorite contacts, the arrangement of my apps, and a great many other things.
    many thanks in advance

Just sync your phone before you get your replacement. First thing done when you perform a sync is an iPhone backup. Read here to find out what's included in that backup:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
The rest of your content should be on your computer: Apps, Music, etc.
Then, when you get your replacement phone, follow the directions here:

  • Updating E71 firmware, how to backup my map favori...

    Hai guys,
think Im gonna update my E71 firmware to its latest.
    1. Is PC Suite backup also backup my Nokia Maps favorite?
If not, how I backup my maps favorite?
    2. Lately, my Nokia Maps just load green screen.
When I first try it last year, it works fine.
Please help me, I really need Nokia Map working when I go out of town.
    3. Is updating to Nokia Maps 3 my favorites will still exist ?
    Thanks guys.

    Hi inciteout
Bear in mind that if you update firmware to 200.21.118 version of Nokia Maps installed is v2.0_3904 whereas the latest version to be found here is v2.0_4503:http://europe.nokia.com/A4984199
Although you will have the convenience of storing your favourites using OVI with Nokia Maps 3.0 bear in mind that in Beta form presently available it is rather resource hungry.
I have not elaborated on backing up Nokia Maps favourites as being a Mac user I do not use PC Suite and my N82 has UDP = User Data Preservation which combined with backing up phone settings to memory card has always been sufficient.
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

  • How to backup library before an iTunes reinstallation

I run Vista, and I happened to have the problem of my CD/DVD drive disappearing on me. I googled it, figured out how to fix it by deleting a couple registry items and restarting, and it started working again. Only thing is, right after that every time I open iTunes I now get a message saying iTunes can no longer import CD's because something got changed, please reinstall. I kept ignoring it, and now iTunes won't even open up. So my question is, how can I for back up my iTunes library before uninstalling, so I won't have to manually import every song file. I have multiple copies of some songs and I don't want those back in the library after reinstalling. Also, after that how would I go about reimporting my old library?
    Thank you.

External drives (for backing up) are less than $100.
    Backup software will run automatically.
If everything on your computer disappeared right now or you r hard drive died and it would not affect/bother you in the least, you could get by without a backup.
But since you are here asking how to backup some files...
I highly suggest you consider it.

  • HT4972 How to Backup iPad2 in Business Environment?

    Hi Everyone!
I have a few question about backing up/Updating the iPad2. We have a few people at work that the job has provided them with ipads. We have already set up the ipads for the users, but I am a little fuzzy on how to make sure all data is backed up and about installing updates.
1st question:  When attaching the ipad to itunes and right clicking the device and then selecting Backup, does this back up all that is on the ipad; music, apps, pics and ect? Is there a way to back up documents and settings within apps, such as notes saved in certain notepad apps?
2nd: What is the best way to backup everything for a user? I want to monthly do a backup for the users and also backup the backup on itunes to a folder on a server on our network.
Basically, I just want to get any advice/info from someone who may know the best way to back up all data on the ipad incase a users ipad decides to die or if needed for after updating a device.

This really depends on how you are managing the devices insofar as how much control you are giving the users is concerned. If they all have their own apple id and their own computer with their own itunes account and they have Apple computers you can have them back up to itunes and have time machine back up the computer.  You could also set the tablets to back up  automatically  to iCloud with the users apple id and not use itunes at all. There are too many unknowns about your environment to offer specific advice.

the carrier provided a new smaller SIM card.

Connect to iTunes and backup your 3GS.  Connect your 4S and and go through the initialization process.  When it asks you to setup your phone as new or restore from a backup, select "restore from backup".  Select the most current backup you just made of your 3GS.  You should be good to go after that.

To take a cold backup, shutdown the database. Then use the "tar"
command to backup all of the files that make up the database.
You should also backup the config.ora, and the initxxxx.ora
