Have you checked every folder that is in the DCIM folder?

How to Backup your HD and Reinstall Lion

Hello to all,
I'm a Student of Informatic Engineering studiying at UCAB in Venezuela.
I have a Macbook Pro 13" late 2011 and needed of windows and ubuntu because some projects at University needed to be developed in those OS. I did the Bootcamp to add Windows to my MacBook Pro, and did an extra partition to the Macintosh HD to install the Ubuntu. All Sucess and finished the semester. Now i dont need these OS no more because i won an Acer and now i have Windows and Ubuntu in that laptop so i want my Mac only with OSX. Besides now the OSX is startint to act funny, so i think its about the triple partition (and i dont like my apps in OSX closing for no reason, and the system is getting a bit slow).
So, my question is:
1.- How do i Backup my Macintosh HD so i dont lose all my installed apps and data.
2.- Can i use Time Machine on any External Hard Drive?
3.- How do i clear all my hd so its like brand new, and Reinstall Lion (because when i bought the Mac it didnt came with an OS CD)

1. Use Time Machine - it's on your Mac.
2. Yes - if the external has enough space.
3. After you back up, use the steps described in this Macworld article to make a clean install of OS X. Basically you reboot while holding down the command and R keys and proceed from there.

Advice on how to backup my photo library?

I need to clear some space off of my computer. I have a lot of photos and videos in iPhoto, organized mostly by events. I'd like to move some of the older events off onto my external hard drive, but I'm not sure of the best way to do this. I know I can export each event by hand and save the files through the finder, but that's a lot of work. I was hoping for some easy way to keep them organized by events. I know that if I select a bunch of events and burn them to a DVD it keeps the organization, but I don't know how to do that to move it to an external drive. Can I make a disk image or something? Any advice on how to do that? Thanks!

In addition to Terence's backup suggestions it's wise to backup your daily organizational effort within the library, i.e. changes to books, calendars, new imports, etc. This can be done frequently like you would use the Save command in those applications that have that feature. I'm referring to saving the Library6.iPhoto database file from within the iPhoto LIbrary package. It is the heart and soul of the library. See the tip at then end of my signature below on how to do this.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Acrobat 7.0: how to download critical updates after reinstall?

We have a legal version of Acrobat 7, version 7.0.0, bought and downloaded via the Adobe website.
I still do have the original installer and did use it to reinstall Acrobat after a software crash. But there have been a few critical security updates in the past, which updated Acrobat to version 7.0.11 or 7.11 or so (I don't remember exactly). These updates were handled automatically from within Acrobat at that time via its auto-updater. However, today that auto-updater does not find these updates anymore. Nor are they available from my account at the download-section on the Adobe website (where the original installer still is available, but that one I already have).
So the question is: where do I find these critical security updates to Acrobat 7.0.0? And how do I download and save them locally for future reinstallations?
Upgrading to Acrobat 10 (or whatever) is no option, since this computer is too old and too slow. So I want to stay with Acrobat 7.x.x, but I would like to update it to its last stable state.

This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
What would be the best way to install these updates, in order to get all corrections? Take the last cumulative update (7.1.0 if I am correct? Or is it 7.05, this is not totally clear), and then install all remaining incrementals one by one? Should I restart the computer after each update, or just do them in one big shot?
By the way, I am using Windows indeed on this computer (Windows 2000, English).

Can't read photos after reinstalling operating system to iOS8 on iPhone4

I upgraded my OS to iOS8 on my iPhone4 and since then cannot read new photos as I try to copy images to my PC.
Prior to that each time I took a new photo set with my iPhone it would create a new folder in DCIM (or added to the latest), so it was pretty easy to identify where new photos are as I open with my PC, and copy them.
Now in my DCIM I have about 20 folders, PC has the same date for all of them for some reason, from 2013, and after spending 30 minutes opening each of them I still CANNOT find new photos. I went through this exercise number of time and new photos just don't show on my PC.
I do unlock the phone (slider / password) when connecting the Phone to PC with USB, so, that's most probably is not the problem...
Could you please help to sort it out?

There is no other way to transfer the photos from your phone to your computer than the ones described in the article. As far as I remember, the program on your Windows computer is called Camera Wizard. Try to use this program and click on the link for the Windows section to get more help:

Usually Windows creates a folder every time you are importing photos and let you choose the ones you want in a preview window. After that you can name the folder to be created and the data can be found in your picture folder in Windows.

I am very new to Lightroom 5. I immediately imported all my photos from "Mu Pictures" and then learned from a tutorial that I could set up "naming" to be added as I imported. How do I remove them so that I can re-import them with the naming feature set up?

Go to the Catalog tab at the top of the left hand panel and click on All Photographs.
Press Ctrl+A to select all and then hit delete.
Just remove from catalog and not from disk.

Hello, I formated my disk and I want to install win 7 again. I dont know how to do that to have RapidDrive. After i formated disk i delete all partitions etc from Disk 1 and i formated disk 0. Before that i run rapiddrive tool and after OS installation i have run setup.exe from rapiddrive folder. Now i have System SSD disk (30gb) where is only ~8gb of free space and second disk where is ~500gb..
I will install few programs and my 1st disk will be full..so please help me and tell me what should i do step by step to make my 2 disk working in rapidDrive. I had found tutorial on lenovo site but the screenshots doesnt exist any more..

How to get pass login after reinstalling snow leopard

I tried unsuccessfully to upgrade to maverick and got an error message stating that the Macintosh HD disk is damaged and to erase the disk and try to install again. I did erase the Macintosh HD disk, reinstalled snow leopard because I have a mid 2010-2011 iMac and reset my password. I was successful but a lot of the icons were missing and did a software update. I ran into problems when I downloaded some software updates and the computer re- booted and now I can't get pass the login screen. Every time I put in my password, the computer accepts the password and I think it is going to bring up the desktop but it just go back to the login screen. I really don't know how to solve this problem, so I'm hoping someone could tell me what to do.
