  • How to Backup iphone and restore onto a new computer?

I am currentely using a PC, on which my iphone is currentely backedup on. But i have recentely just purchased a MacBook Pro, how do I backup my iphone on my PC then restore it on my new MacBook?
Would be great if anyone could help!

Move your iTunes library & other data...contacts, calendars, photos, etc. from your PC to your MacBook Pro. Then, authorize iTunes on your Mac: iTunes>Store>Authorize this Computer. Under iTunes>Preferences>Devices, disable auto-sync. Connect your phone, right-click in the left device pane, select "Backup". When finished, right-click again & select "Restore from Backup". Select the backup you just made. When finished, sync your iTunes content back to your phone. You should be good to go.
Read here about copying your iTunes library & other data:

If you don't want to do this yourself, make an appointment at an Apple store...bring both PC & Mac...the genius bar will do this for you.

  • Backup iphone, how to backup iphone and not lose everything?

Since so much is at stake, songs, pictures etc., I was trying to figure out how to perform an update to my iPhone from 4.1. I see the update instructions, but how do I not lose everything?

    - Although the first step of an update is iTunes making a backup, make one yourself too. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Make sure that all of your synced media is in your iTunes library (on computer for synced photos) since synced media is not included in the backup.
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and update via iTunes.

  • HT1414 How to backup iPhone on desktop computer - contacts, etc

What is the best way to backup all iPhone content on a Windows PC?  Thanks,

I suggest you also sync your contacts to a supported application on the computer. Depending on what version of Windows you are using, it would be Windows Contacts or Outlook, NOT Outlook Express.

  • HT4910 How To backup Iphone To iCloud when The backup Button is grey?

    I.e. Not possible To press.

How did the photos get onto the iPad ? Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly in the iPad's Photos app - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it (Edit button on iOS 6) in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from your computer can't be deleted directly in the Photos app - you either need to move/remove/de-select them from where they were synced from on your computer and re-syncing e.g. to remove a synced folder de-select that folder on the Photos tab and re-sync, to remove all synced photos select and sync an empty folder.  Depending upon what iOS version that the iPad is on, you might be able to delete all synced photos by swiping across the 'Photo Library' line in Settings > General > Usage > Photos & Camera (that should give you a Delete button but I haven't tried tapping it to see if it works).

  • How to backup iphone 5 before update to IOS8?

    Hi
I've updated my iMac to Yosemite and my iPad to IOS 8 with no problems.
However my iphone 5 is only 8GB so I can't update it without deleting heaps of stuff to make room for the 4.5 GB needed.
If I try plugging it into my iMac and selecting iTunes, the message I get is:
    Welcome to Your New iPhone
Would you like to set this up as a new phone or restore all your information from a previous backup?
Set up as new phone >
Restore from this backup (gives me a date in 2013)>
I don't want to do either - I want to backup my phone and then download the new IOS - but the backup option is greyed out.I have backed up to iCloud earlier today but that backup is not being offered.
I have lots of data on my phone I'd not want to lose and don't understand why it is only offering me these two options.
    Help, oh wise ones!!
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hello Fif,
You can choose "Set up as a new phone" to proceed forward to create a backup of the device. This option does not actually affect any change and functions only to dismiss the dialog.

  • Backup iPhone contacts

Does anyone know how to backup iPhone contacts into address book on macbook?
    Thanks guys...

Your iphone should sync to address book and ical. The settings are in itunes, with your iphone connected.

  • Iphone and Ical on mac do not sync anymore. All my events are in the iphone calendar! How do I backup iphone calendar, and how do I fix the syncronizing problem?

After getting iCloud the iCal on my mac does not sync with my iPhone calendar. All of my calendar notes are in my iPhone (while the mac's Ical remains empty) so I need to backup the iphone version. How?
Itunes says that "your calendars are being syncronized with iphone using icloud" - but the mac's ical does not show any of the new events I have added on my iphone.
I would like to install the new update on my iphone, but I am afraid to do it without knowing that I will be able to restore my iphone calendar. I have made calendar events for many years to come, I and will not risk losing them!
I have been looking for tips online, but the solutions usually suggest that I backup the ical on the mac and start fresh using this version. In other words overwrite iphone calendar with the ical from the mac. Which is not an option. What can I do?

Moments in Photos are the new Events, i.e. groupings of photos sorted by date taken.
When the iPhoto Library was first migrated to Photos there was a folder created in the sidebar titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in that folder. To open the sidebar if it's not already open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.
The downside to the simulation is that the Albums/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can also be sorted manually, either in the sidebar or in the folder's window at the right.
Ask Apple for more sorting options in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.
