I need to restore my iPhone and i just wanna backup my messages ..
i don't wanna use the stupid program that called iTunes because i ONLY wanna backup messages
please help me guys i'm using mac

iTunes backs up messages, along with other things.
iTunes makes it easy to restore to your iPhone. iTunes should definitely be your way to proceed.

Certainly you did not format the pc without first backing up your media and important data files.
Use that backup to restore everything.
iOS devices are NOT backup devices.

How to backup contacts in iphone to MacBookPro

I understand the iphone backup does not include contacts - which is the most important thing (to me!) on a phone to backup! How do I ensure this happens?
Also, I do not want calendar sync'ing b/t iphone and laptop, but do not see a checkbox to "uncheck" to avoid this....

The iPhone's backup DOES include contacts, but not a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup alone for this data.
Contacts should be available on your computer and the iPhone is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. Not a good idea to depend on the iPhone or on any cell phone for contacts which can be lost or stolen.
With a Mac, this can be with the Address Book application, which is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences, which is also where syncing calendar events with a supported application on your computer is selected/deselected.
If you don't use the Address Book on your Mac - it is empty, before the first sync for contacts enter one contact in the Address Book. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.

E61 - how to backup messages saved to a customized...

I want to backup all the contents of my E61 prior to handing it in for repair again. The screen doesn´t work, so I cannot navigate on the phone itself though I can connect it to my PC.
In the "Nokia Communication Center" (I use Nokia PC Suite and that´s what opens when I hit the envelope symbol), I only see the following SMS folders: Inbox/ Draft/ Sent/ Outbox. On my phone, however, I have created a custom folder "important" and the text messages in that one are - well, important. One holds a licence key I needed to activate a piece of software and I don´t have that key any other place.
Can anyone give me a hint how I might be able to backup the contents of that folder?

Does no one have any ideas on this one? I would hate to have to buy that software again on top of everything else I face until I have a working phone again...
I suppose that when I do a full backup including the messages (via PC Suite), those customized folders will also be backed up - but I´d like to be sure.
I want to give it a shot and hand my phone in, at least to get a cost estimate so I can judge if it´s worth repairing or if I´d be better off with a new one from ebay.

I had a macbook which is sync with my iphone 4..All my data is already sync to the iphone..
After that, i decided to sell my macbook and i purchased a new Computer..
And then i wanna backup all the photo from my Iphone to the new Computer..
But the problem is ,
Is usually when we sync with the computer, All the data from New Computer will move to the Iphone , replace everything and all the photo from the Iphone will be gone??
Or,
The photo from my iphone will transfer to that new computer ?

I don't know about MacBook, but when I plug my iphone into my windows HP laptop a message pops up (part of AutoPlay). It asks which action I would like to take. I would open the folder (device) to view files. Then you can locate any or all your photos from your device and manually import them to a file you create on your new computer. In Itunes, do not select sync photos. You are correct, this will import itunes photos back on your iphone. If you do not get an autoplay message, you can locate your device by finding it through your drives (C is for your computer, F is for a DVD -- at least on mine).

Did you drop your iPhone? Have you tried a reboot?
Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPhone will restart.
If that doesn't work, go to the Apple store Genius bar and maybe they can help you. If they can't, you likely need to replace your phone. Do you know when you last backed it up?

The problem is, my address book (Contacts) entries have mutilple phone numbers and email addresses. So when I just type a persons name in Messages, there is a list of phone numbers and email addresses and on the right it says "imessage." There are also some that say AIM instead. Alas, none of those labled imessage seem to work.
So how do I message an iphone? it should be easy.

Yes, if the person has an iphone and they are out of range or something, the bubble will be white. You can still send.
You can only message people who have an itunes account though, as imessage actually uses the ID email address of the iTunes account (Apple is supposedly tying the email address to peoples phone numbers, but I don't think it is done yet). So people who don't have an iTunes account but have an iPhone, when you put in their name it will show as red instead of blue.
As to how to bring up the bubbles, I had forgotten but I just found an iphone user in my contacts that I have not sent a text too from Messages on the computer, and the blue bubbles just came up by themselves.
