How to batch print indesign files to ps?

In Windows OS,
I have a lot indesign files needed to print to postscript files -->PDF.
I tried to include them together in a book file and print them multiply, but it turned out that the page information just displayed the book's name, not every document's info.
How could I achieve the goal through scirpting?
p.s.
I just hope zevrix's BatchOutput has a Windows version.

SuperMacGuy wrote: "I'd like to very politely ask Olav, Dov, and anyone else to not question why any of us need to Postscript > PDF versus export a PDF directly from InDesign. I, and numerous others, have requirements of our workflow or output that we can't change, or technical problems that are only overcome by PS-PDFing. I understand that you also may want to inform others that direct PDF export might be better, that's OK too."
As long as I know that it's a requirement for a particular poster, I won't bring it up (though I might forget from time to time). You'll note that as soon as the original poster wrote: "It was just a workflow we have to obey... " I did not press the matter any further.
But it's a widespread and false assumption that deserves challenging, so I will not stop questioning it. There is so much "information" out there about InDesign's PDF export that is simply wrong, based on superstition, hearsay, incomprehension, and pure stupidity that I have to "question why," just as a public service. It has nothing to do with "company line" (which I routinely violate anyway). It's just the truth.
All of the "problems" with direct PDF export are traceable to either ignorance or antiquated equipment/workflows. I've worked in plenty of places where I had to deal with the latter under policies set by the former, without recourse to argument, so I do understand the problem!
So we're cool, I hope.
Thanks,
Ole

  • How To Batch Print PDF Files

    Hello Friends.
    I am using Apex 4.1 on Windows 7. My database is Oracle EE 10.2.0.5 on Solaris and OAS as the app server (and so, am using mod_plsql).
    I wrote an application in which I use the PLPDF package to generate PDF screens. Initially, the last few commands in my code looked like:
    owa_util.mime_header('application/pdf',false);
    htp.p('Content-Length: ' || dbms_lob.getlength(l_blob));
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    wpg_docload.download_file(l_blob);The variable l_blob is the PDF blob object generated by PLPDF. The PDF is being formed from a cursor for loop further up in my code (not displayed here) that is SELECTing from a table. The above code displays the generated PDF on to a popup page in my application. At that point, the user can click the "File->Print" menu to send the displayed PDFF to the default printer.
    However, my requirements are that I may have multiple PDFs generated from my for loop and would like to have each of these PDFs sent to the default printer is one go rather than force the user to have to display and print each one separatlely.
    And so I modified the above code so that the PDFs created by the PLPDF package are being inserted into an Oracle table rather than displayed in a popup page.
    Would any one know how to send each of the PDFs stored in the table to the default printer automagically, perhaps my issuing a ctrl+p command or some such thing.
    Thanks in advance for any help/code/advice.
    Elie

    I tried the following code that which comes directly from the Apex Stored procedure PRINT_PDF.
    The APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT function returns NULL.
    declare
        v_filename varchar2(1000);
        v_pdf_blob blob;
    pnum number;
    begin
    v_filename := 'TEST_' || to_char(sysdate,'yyyymmdd');
    pnum := --Hidden from Post;
    dbms_output.put_line('Security ID: ' || pnum);
    wwv_flow_api.set_security_group_id(p_security_group_id=>nvl(wwv_flow_application_install.get_workspace_id,pnum));
    v_pdf_blob := APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT (
                                           p_application_id      =>  121,
                                           p_report_query_name   => 'QS_CERT_QUERY_TEST',
                                           p_report_layout_name  => 'QS_CERT_QUERY',
                                           p_report_layout_type  => 'xsl-fo',
                                           p_document_format     => 'pdf');
    insert into printed_pdfs (filename, stored_pdf, record_created_By_person, record_created_on_date)
                      values  (v_filename||'.pdf', v_pdf_blob, 'Name', sysdate);
    end;
    Any idea on what is wrong or how to make it work.

  • Batch Convert InDesign Files to PDF: Acrobat 9 Pro Opens CS3

    A question came up in the InDesign forum about batch converting InDesign files. I've never really needed to do it but I was aware of the batch convert command. The OP reported errors so I tried it myself and while it worked, for some reason Acrobat 9 Pro is opening InDesign CS3 even though I have CS4 and CS5 installed.
    I can't seem to find any way to change the default for INDD files. I tried launching ID CS5 first, but Acrobat still launched ID CS3. If I double click an INDD file in Windows Explorer, it opens in CS5 so the operating system has the default correct.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Thanks,
    I just found that out, too.
    What I'd like to find out is how to fix this.

  • How can i print my files from mi iphone 5 throught the airport express?

    How can i print my files from mi iphone 5 throught the airport express?? i have the last iOS version installed and also the last firmware version of the printer. the printer is already connected to the USB airport express and when i look for printers in airprinter there is no printer found. i have an HP LASERJET P1606dn(i think that is supported by the airprinter).

    In order to function with AirPrint, a printer must connect to the network wirelessly.
    Even if you have an AirPrint compatible printer, iOS devices will not be able to print to the printer when it is connected via USB.
    So, you have two options:
    1) Reconfigure the printer to connect to the network using wireless only and the iOS devices should be able to print that way....assuming that you have up to date drivers for the printer installed.
    2) Leave the printer connected via USB and then use a third party App like Printopia installed on your Mac as a "workaround" to (hopefully) allow the iOS to device to be able to print.  If you want to give this a try, there is a free trial for Printopia, so you will know if it will work before you buy. You must have a Mac running on the network in order for Printopia to function correctly.

    Very strange!  What is your installed Reader version?
    Try disabling Protected Mode in Adobe Reader [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Batch Printing with File Names in Photoshop CS5

    How can I batch print hundreds of images with the file name on each of the print? I also need them to be printed at their original dimensions, which mean they should not be scaled when printed to papers.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks for your response, Noel. However, the images to be printed at their actual dimensions and resolution (300ppi). This is so that we can see how their qualities are going to be when they are printed the actual publication, which is at 300ppi.
    What I used to be able to do in CS3 is creating an action in Photoshop that contains a print command with "label" or file name option on. Then I ran the script through the batch command in Bridge. However, in CS5, when I tried to same method, all of the images are printed at 1/2 an inch while they are actually 3-5 inches at 300ppi. Therefore, I am trying to another method that would give me the same result.

  • Tints vs. transparency; printing indesign file - so confused now

    Hello!
    I'm still learning indesign so i'm definitely not a pro. I've been working on an assignment which consists of creating compositions in indesign. The indesign file basically has text, lines and colored areas.
    I've just realized that I am only allowed to use a couple of colors and their tints. This whole time i've been using color and working with its transparency. Is that remotely the same thing? I am not sure how to get the exact same color i've produced when working with the transparency of a color as a tint. (I'm not suppose to be using transparency yet... XD) Please help.
    Also, once the above is figured out, what is the correct way to export this file as a pdf? Finally, I also need to export all 12 compositions as a 72dpi jpeg to upload online-- how do i do that? The file in indesign is a cmyk file and i'm pretty sure it exports as a cmyk pdf which is okay since i'm printing the pdf. The jpeg part really throws me off though.
    So far, this is what i'm 100% sure on:
    Indesign:
    File> Adobe PDF presets> High Quality Print> give the file a name and save
    then
    this is where i get confused - do I changed the standard options and compability options as well? what about the compression? i've basically printed so many variations of the project playing with the above (from what i've read) and have reached a point in which i'm no longer sure what the correct colors of my file are once exported as a pdf.
    Please help me. Thank you in advance!!!
    (forgot to mention i'm working with indesign CS5.5 and adobe acrobat pro x)

    Hello!
    Thank you for your kind and helpful replies. I was away celebrating Thanksgiving. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, rest of the week!
    @ Peter
    Thank you for your explanation of what offset printing is. It really helped me visualize the process. Is this something used only when it comes to printing large quantities of work then? (I'm assuming large files as well)
    @ Dov
    Thanks for explaining your answer in simpler terms. I now understand what you meant. If i'm understanding things correctly, it's not good to use tints over other colors/objects yet it's alright to use them when they are on white backgrounds. Also, it's best not to use tints when it comes to overprinting; transparency is best.
    @ Will
    Thanks for your information! I'm a bit confused now to be honest; pdfx-4 is not recommended when overprinting with transparency?
    @ Dov
    If I'm understanding correctly, what you and Will are saying is that it's best not to import pdfs that are saved as pdfx-4? I really enjoyed reading all the extra info. It's all quite exciting! (trying to wrap my head around this)
    Thanks guys!!
    I decided to export the indesing file under Adobe Pdf Presets> High Quality Print. I didn't change any of the standard settings. With regards to the jpgs, I used the advice recommended - File > Export, choose JPEG, 72 ppi. I do have one large question though...
    This is what one of the compositions looks like in indesign:
    This is what it looks like when I view it under View> Proof Colors in Indesign:
    This is what it looks like when I export it as a Hight Quality Print pdf:
    This is what the jpeg image looks like when I export it under the following settings:
    And this is what the jpeg image looks like when I export it under these settings:
    Is it correct of me to use the exported jpegs with the simulate overprint option selected even though i'm only digital printing this pdf file? The color of the jpeg resenmbles the most of the pdf color. Thus... is it alright to do that?
    Thank you

  • Batch Printing PDF files in Sharepoint

    We are migrating our production documents into an existing WSS2.0 environment.  The documents are mainly .PDF files and I am trying to find a way to allow a user to select a subset of files within a view and once done, submit all of them to be printed.
    I envision a Windows File Explorer window that a user could check only the files desired and then click a single print button to launch the batch print.  I have done some searching, but the the commercial tools I have found are very expensive.  Anyone
    know of another way to accomplish this need?

  • Batch print multipe files

    Hello everyone,
    I'm quite new to scripting and autmation but it's quickly becoming an important area I need to get to grips with.
    My problem is that I have 97 seperate indesign files I need to print as proofs, and also need to create pdfs for as well.
    I've had a quick google for a solution to this but not really sure what I need to be looking for & havent found anything that fits the bill.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    -Ryan.

    Hi Ryan,
    Here is example of batch print script:
    function main()
        var skipTo = null;
        var folder = null;
        var files = null;
        var printDialog = false;
        // Enter your Print Presets here
        var printPreset = app.printerPresets.itemByName("Your Print Preset Name");
        if( app.documents.length>0 ) {
        skipTo = app.activeDocument.fullName;
        folder = skipTo.parent;
        } else {
        folder = Folder.selectDialog("Choose a folder");
        files = folder.getFiles();
        for( f in files ) {
        var file = files[f];
        if( skipTo ) {
        if( skipTo.fsName==file.fsName )
        skipTo = null;
        else continue;
        if( file.type!="IDd4" )
        continue;
        app.open(file);
        if( app.modalState )
        return;
        app.activeDocument.print(printDialog,printPreset);
        app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.YES);
    main();
    And batch convert script is here:
