How to batch remove PowerPC apps?

Like many of you, I have moved to Lion Mac OS X 10.7.1.
Without Rosetta support old PowerPC apps are rendered useless as you know. I have no burning desire to support these old apps but I discovered that I have hundreds of PowerPC legacy apps littering my startup drive. Short of tediously manually removing each PowerPC apps, is there a way to batch remove all of these apps and associated code? Is there any danger in doing a batch removal like this?
If there isn't a way to do this batch removal might Automator help with something like this and could anyone give me some Automator steps to take to achieve this?
Thanks!
PWRMAC (I'm going to have to change this name one of these days!)

You can remove collections of objects with an EntryProcessor and cache.invoke(). The built-in processor ConditionalRemove() with Always/Present filters should do the trick.
In terms of performance however, note that cache delete operations are always synchronous (even with write-behind) - so removing large sets of objects will be a bottleneck if you have an attached cachestore.

  • How do I remove multiple apps from iPad

I have a laptop that both my son and I use which has iTunes on but has 2 accounts ie my son's and mine. When I set up my iPad 3 I transferred my apps across from my iPhone via the iTunes laptop but I appear to have also transferred across my son's apps from his iPhone on to my iPad. Now although i have gone through the ipad and deleted my son's apps on my ipad when I go to update apps it still shows updates to his apps which just sit there. How do I gt I get rid of them please?

How do I remove an app from my ipad that is stuck in paused mode?

Tap the app so that it can complete then delete it by holding your finger on the app until it starts to wiggle then tap the "x" in the left top corner. This is the iPad guide. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPad_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf

I deleted an app form my lanchpad when it was requesting a password as resident on the menubar and when I try to quit it at the menubar it does not close.  How do I remove this app from the menubar?

Command-click it and drag it out. If that doesn't work, find and run an uninstaller for that application.

  • How do I remove an app from the update list that is under someone else's apple id?

How do I remove an app from the update list that is under someone else's apple id? So this way the update always fails because it asks for someone else's password. I don't have the app on my mac, it only appears in the update list. It's just annoying, because the update keeps appearing, and the reminder keeps reminding me that I should install a new update.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

How do I remove an App from my Itunes Account

You can't permanently delete any items from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them so that they don't show in the Purchased tab for re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
But that doesn't appear to be working properly on iOS 7 - hiding the app on your computer and then logging out of your account on your phone by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then logging back in may make it hidden on it.

  • How do I remove standard apps from an iPhone 5?

I am an IT in a government office who just switched our fleet to iPhones.  We are not permitted to use certains apps that are either not in our data contract, touch the Cloud, or cause cost/personnel issues.  Those items I try to corral in a folder "Unusable Apps" on a separate page where the user has little eye contact with them (outta sight outta mind right).  I go through the motions of turning off every notification, update, share feature, etc. I can find but the icons are still on the phone.  I have a fleet of about 100 iPhones and at least half my users are sneaky & curious and often try to reactivate things I have already hidden or turned off per our agency telecommunications policy.  I just want them removed all together so I don't have to keep going through this and for those who can't fight temptation - they won't have to anymore.  How do I remove standard apps from an iPhone 5?

You may want to repost this in one of the iPhone for Business forums:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/iphone/iphone_in_business_and_education
You'll want to ask about Configurator.
My company uses iPads as part of a Point of Sale System. They have restricted access to many of the built in apps and deployed custom apps.
    Best of luck.

Drag the app icon out of the Apps folder and drop it in the Trash. If you want to make sure that you got all associated files use a deletion app such as AppCleaner.
    Hi Dah.veed
I read your advice to uninstall an app.using AppCleaner. This seems confusing. When I check the file location to see the total package contents, the file shows considerable more MB's than when I use AppCleaner and not near as much.Using AppCleaner would mean I would be leaving a considerable amount of residual garbage. Why is the AppCleaner not cleaning everything out.If i was to delete from the file location and send it to trash, would I be deleting support files.
    Thanks for your help.

How can I remove an app I no longer want?

Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

    Hi,
The v10.6.7 "combo" update addresses MAS bugs.  You can download and install from this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
Restart your Mac after the update is installed. It's ok to do this even if you are already running v10.6.7.

The only thing you can do is tap and hold the Kindle app icon until it wiggles.  Then tap the "x" next to the icon to delete it.  This removes it from the device.
Then open the App Store app on the device and look up the Kindle app.  Then tap the icon to download it (again).  That's it, there's no other way to do this.
When deleting an app from a device, that also removes all settings and other data files associated with that app.  What problem are you having with Kindle?
