How to become a SUMO developer / contributor / supporter

Very simply, I'm an EE/CE with TONS of experience in the industry. I would like to determine if you are looking for developers / contributors / supporters.
How does one do this? Where do I make the request?
I ask because of the feedback I'm hearing in the industry (major corporations and TONS of users) are considering Chrome or something else (other than IE) because they LOVE what the FF 3.6 look and feel gave them... Simple, complete, and UNIQUE... It wasn't IE or Safari or ANYTHING ELSE by default. If you wanted to add extensions or add-ons to taste, you could, but if you wanted a fast, *SAFE* browser that you could navigate any darn way you wanted, FF was the answer.... NOW, FF4 has changed that perception. Fears of FF5 are growing as well.... FF 4 being at EOL already doesn't bode well. Is FF 5 or 6 going to be more IE or Chrome like -OR--- (the overwhelmingly preferred option is to default to the LONG ESTABLISHED & FAMED FF 3.6 look & feel and *THEN*, if and only if, change it to suit your desires. Our active computer user age group has been extended from 18->50+ and doesn't require a degree in Comp Sci just to use or tailor. I would like to do what I can to help restore that GREAT image while providing all the NEW capabilities we have at our fingertips and WANT to use.

I read java ee 6 tutorial and know basics of that. what is another step to become a true developer? i am confused with spring and swing and others.

I need to know what i must know to can work as a java developer. i know basic java and object oriented and java ee 6. is it enough? issues like NHibernate, Spring and etc are essential to know?NHibernate is for .NET, you want Hibernate. But Hibernate in itself is an ORM API, of which there are a few. They all come together under the Java Persistence API standard; I would put my efforts there. You should already know about it since it is also part of the Enterprise Edition specifications.
As an "extra" to the enterprise edition, you have a whole set of web frameworks to choose from. Nobody can tell you which one to choose; Spring and/or Java Serverfaces are good choices however as they are widely used. Generally when you learn one you will know the trick and it is easy to pick up another framework.
Just remember this; this is not .NET. There is nothing to hold your hand, there is no road map. You are on your own now and you'll need to prove you've got the research skills to get you anywhere in the world of Java development. It will go beyond demanding answers in a forum I'm afraid, it isn't that simple. Explore the market at see what you come up with, then reason for yourself what you should or should not learn.

  • How to become a c# developer

What exams should be taken to become a c# developer?

Okay - I see a lot of partial answers to this question and I have noticed that the official answer has a dead link because the question was asked three (3) years ago.
Normally these threads fade away over time but it's back at the top so I will give the most current answer.
A simple choice is available for those interested in passing a single C# exam to earn a certification title. You can earn the
C# Programming Specialist title by passing the
70-483 exam. All Specialist titles with links to the exams are defined here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/specialist-certification.aspx
If you want a bigger developer certification, you must decide which one you want to pursue. You can either go for the older
    MCPD certifications or the newer
    MCSD certifications.
The older MCPD certifications are based on .NET 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010. These exams are retiring this summer (July 31, 2014). Learn more here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcpd-certification.aspx
Alternately, you can pursue the newer MCSD certifications that are based on .NET 4.5 and Visual Studio 2012. Learn more here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcsd-certification.aspx
    You can learn about which
    exams are retiring and when
    exactly they are retiring here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/retired-certification-exams.aspx
The older MCPD certification title will not appear retired on your transcript after July, 2014. Instead, it will eventually (years from now) be marked as
    Legacy on your certification transcript.
The newer MCSD certification title requires you to recertify every two (2) years. It will initially be marked as
Active on your certification transcript. If you do not recertify after the two (2) year deadline, it will be marked as
    Inactive.
    Learn more about recertification here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/certification-exam-policies.aspx#recertification
As well, there is free developer training at Microsoft Virtual Academy, a free online classroom environment. You can even perform a search on the site to find training for a particular exam, here:

    Good luck!

  • How to become an Apple developer at 16?

I'm 16 and I would like to develop Apps, but I need to have 18 years old. What can I do? How can I practice and be prepared? I have started reading books about Apps developement. Thank you.

In theory, your parents can create a new Apple ID, in their name and with their payment information, and you can use it to distribute apps. But if you are just reading about it now, you still have a while to go. There is no point in paying any money yet. You can download Xcode for free and run apps in the simulator.

How to start writing some stuff that may be helpful ?
    define "stuff"
is this programming? reports? wiki's ? reviews?
i'd echo similar to elasticdog's comments, to find something that really makes you buzz. Then maybe join a community that specialises in that, learn, and contribute.
or hang around Arch forums , pick up of some problems that interest you and work through them see if anything takes your fancy. theres always problems to solve without necessarily creating your own

  • How to become microft community contributor or MVP

    Hi,
How can i achieve MCC / MVP award. :-)
Cheers, Hemendra-MCTS "Yesterday is just a memory,Tomorrow we may never see"

Thanks for asking this question! Everybody also wants to know this!
Sometimes answers aren't what we want them to be. The process might not be as detailed as we want, but that's by design (for flexibility and other reasons). Since this forum is to discuss recognition, the recognition aspect is as follows: When
you become an MCC or MVP, then you receive the appropriate "MCC" or "MVP" mark.
To find out how to become an MCC or MVP, we should go check out their sites and ask them. The "MCC" and "MVP" marks on here only reflect that the award was given... and the Recognition Points might inform the award. But the award itself has nothing
to do with the Recognition system or the forums. So here's the answer and links for you to find out more information if you want it...
    MICROSOFT COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTOR (MCC)
Q14. How do I contact Microsoft about the Community Contributor Award?
A14. You can send questions to the Microsoft Community Contributor Global Administrator at
    [email protected] (MCCGA at microsoft.com).
    FAQ:
    https://www.microsoftcommunitycontributor.com/faq.aspx
PROCESS: Current MVPs and Microsoft personnel recommend people as MCCs based on quality, quantity, and impact on "online technical communities." Current MVPs and Microsoft personnel then evaluate those recommended on the same factors (impact on
online technical communities) and base the award on those evaluations. If you think they should be more transparent about the process, let them know with the links above.
Tips to becoming an MCC (based on the FAQ):
    1) Make an impact in the community, using tools like TechNet Forums, Gallery, and Wiki.
    2) Become noticed by MVPs and Microsoft's MCC representatives (start building relationships with these folks and collaborating).
    MOST VALUALBE PROFESSIONALS (MVP):
    Become an MVP:
http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/gp/mvpbecoming (if it doesn't open, paste into a new tab or window)
    Nominate an MVP:
http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/gp/mvpnominate (if it doesn't open, paste it into a new tab or window)
Process: After reading the "become an MVP" page, you'll see that the process is rigorous. "MVP nominees undergo a rigorous review process. A panel that includes members of the MVP team and Microsoft product groups evaluates each nominee's technical expertise
and voluntary community contributions for the past 12 months. The panel considers the quality, quantity, and level of impact of the MVP nominee's contributions." Essentially the panel evaluates the nominees and then bases their award on those evaluations in
quality, quantity, and level of impact.
Tips to becoming an MVP (based on the MVP site):
    1) Give quality assistance, advice, processes, scripts, and consultation. Test your own advice and ask first. Experts in your area will be evaluating samples of your community work. You don't want them to be evaluating the one communication issue you had
or mistake you accidentally made (and thus thinking that you make it a regular practice).
    2) Give high-quantity contributions. Be active in your technology's forums and on blogs. The TechNet and MSDN forums are being monitored by current MVPs and Microsoft personnel.
    3) Share your knowledge in blogs, Wiki articles, white papers, and Galleries. You must create your own unique content and help build the community around your content.
    4) Speak at conferences, local groups, and user groups. Speak online in virtual events. Go show your expertise and teach large groups. These conferences and events are different for every product. Go find them.
    5) Become the leader. Instead of just plugging into conferences, events, local groups, and user groups, build them, organize them, and lead them. Bring the community off-line.
So even if this isn't what we want, this is what the programs have made available, and you can contact them for more information.
    Thanks!

  • How to transport requests from development  to production server

    hi gurus
    i am new to SDN
can u pls give me detailed information how to transport requests from development server to production server?if possible give me screen shot documents
    regards
    surya

    Hi
    Transporting
There are help pages that discuss creation of transports.
In simple terms, you: create a transport package
add objects to the package  export the package, plus optionally any related objects to a predefined folder/directory on the portal server into a file with an extension of .EPA copy the .EPA file to the import folder of your QA system and import it  test the contents on the QA system  copy the .EPA file to the import folder of your production system and import it  Create a transport package file
Here is the step by step procedure to create a transport package:
    For Export
    1. Go to system administration, and click on transport?export.
    2. In the middle pane, select the folder you want to export and right click on the Transport Package. 3. Fill in the General Properties i.e the name of the package, id and description. 4. And say finish and open the object for editing.
    5. When the object has been opened then right click on the object you want to transport, and say "Add object to the Transport Package".
    6. Check the checkbox of the item u have added and see the properties if it has been added properly. 7. Now click on the save button.
    8. After the object is saved, click on the export button. 9. U will have an option to select where to store the .epa file which will be generated. U can overwrite an existing one by selecting the browse button, or store it with the generated name in the location it automatically generates. 10. Now Click on the Start Export button.
    11. once the export is completed, it shows a report on how much time is taken to generate the .epa file. 12. Here there is an option for downloading the .epa file. Click on the link and download the file. This file is ready to be uploaded into any other EP Server.
    For Import:
Pre-requisites: You have to copy the .epa file created while export into the local drive. Optionally, you have to manually copy the .epa file generated in the export function into the Import directory of the server ie. chooseFollow the steps below for importing a certain file. 1. Go to System Administration in the portal, and click on Transport?Import. 2. For the source of the package, Click on the radio button Server for the .epa file you have copied lately. Else, click on the radio button on client if you are operating in the client and select the .epa file you have stored on the local drive. 3. Now select the file from the browse option and click on Upload.
    4. Now click on the import button. 5. Once the import process is finished, the report is shown. In the whole process, the par files are not included in the .epa files. For the par files to be included into the .epa files then we have to change the pcdStartup.properties file in the server. The property to be changed is Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.ExcludeObjectTypesAfterRuleProcessing: Keep this property's value as empty for enabling the par files to be uploaded into the .epa. You can check for this property in the portal in the following -System Administration-Support-Portal Content Directory-PCD Configuration.

  • How many AirPort Express stations can be supported by an AirPort Extreme wirelessly?

I got one AirPort Extreme in my home and would like to extend the wireless network by purchasing additional AirPort Express.  Wanna know how many AirPort Express stations can be supported by an AirPort Extreme wirelessly?
    Thanks.
    Tony

Bob -- question for you which I can't answer as I don't have an airport extreme. The newer Extremes can create both G and N networks and can create the N network in the 5 mhz band. Can you increase the number of Express units you can connect wirelessly if you split the load between the 2.4 mhz G and 5 mhz N networks created by the Extreme. (recognizing that the 5 mhz band has less range than the 2.4 mhz band)
Not an issue for me as I only have three connected wirelessly, but I've always wondered about this. Of my three AX units one connects to a G network created by a Linksys WRT54GS and two connect to the N network created by the AX.
So instead of 3-4 AX units could it become 6-8?
