  • How to configure Oracle National Language Support for Hindi

    Hello
I am Working on one library project and right now it is in foxpro.
it is working in local(hindi) language using c-dec software. Now i want to run this project using oracle national
language support.i have done lots of rnd on that but till could not get success.what's wrong with that?
Following the step i am applied for that
1 I have create the database using in8iscii character set. Because In8iscii support the Hindi Language.
2 Set the variable NLS_LANG = hindi_india.in8iscii in environment. I am using the Windows 2000 OS because
    it supports the Hindi font(Mangal).
3 I am using the Oracle Developer as front end so using mangal font in front end i am able to display data
in Hindi format that's why i am selected Windows 2000 os.
4 I have done the special setting in Windows 2000 for Hindi.it is in controlpanel-regional setting-click the indic option
for india and in input locals set keyboard layout as Hindi also.
5 I also changed the Init.ora file and add the NLS_LANGUAGE = Hindi
nls_territory = india. now, I opens the database using this Init.ora file.
6 But It can't display the data in Hindi format.I could not able to display the data in Front End also.
So,pls help me in Oracle and also guide me in Linux platform also.
    null

    Hi Nimit,
I have tried inserting Hindi/Marathi into an Oracle database (I have tried versions 8.0.6 and 8.1.7).
I created the database using UTF8 character set. The NLS_LANG was set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8. Inserts into the database were via iSQL*Plus or import. For querying I used OCI and Pro*C. The data for my app is being served up as XML. I have not tried Developer. The DB platforms have been both HPUX and Win2K, while the client platform has been Win2K/IE5.5 SP2. I have been using Code2000 as the font.
Did you manage to view the stored data using the export utility ?
Also, you can try using yudit to edit unicode files on Linux.

  • How to become Oracle Functional Consutant

    Hi
I want to switch over to Oracle Functional side. How should I start and what path should I adopt to become an Oracle Functional Consultant?
    Thanx and regards.
    Anand

    Anand,
    Try the following:
    - Find an empty room in your office where you will be along.
    - Sit down on a char and close you eyes.
    - Say very slowly:
"I am not a technical Oracle Apps Consultant!"
"I am not a technical Oracle Apps Consultant!"
"I am not a technical Oracle Apps Consultant!"
    "Now I am Functional Consultant!!!!"
Basically this is it. You are Oracle Functional Consultant after that procedure.
Let to be a bit more serious.
There is no such thing like “Oracle Functional Consultant”. Oracle Apps consist of 400+ modules. As functional consultant you can have expertise and knowledge in some of the modules and corresponding business fields. For example: HR, Payroll, AP, AR, CSC etc.
As you can see you need to be more specific, which module you would like to be an expert in.
There is a corresponding implementation guide in the Apps Docs set. I believe it would be a good starting point for you.
And very good luck to you.
    Yury

  • How to become a Mozilla Firefox Support Forum Moderator.

I am very sorry to ask this here. I asked this here because I don't know where to ask. I am a Contributor in the Mozilla Support forum Top Contributors list. Many of the Top contributors are Moderators. I would like to be a Moderator too. However I don't know what to do to become a Moderator.

Even if the need is there, you might need more total support postings before being asked. I was coming here to contribute for over a year and a half ''(the first year was very infrequent, like once a week for a few hours)'', and had more than 1000 support postings before I was asked. The "counter" was reset with the forum software upgrade back in July 2010, so a lot of us have far more postings than shown now. My total was a shade over 30,000 before, and IIRC, '''co-rel''' had in excess of 100,000 at the end of July. Other contributors counts I don't recall.

  • How long is Oracle 9 supported?

    Hello,
Do you guys happen to know how much longer Oracle 9 is supported? This is in regards to making a decision for an application upgrade to either Oracle 9 or Oracle 10 compatible version.
Ideally 10 would be the most suggested, but it is available on a beta version of the application, which could be risky unless adequately tested prior to implementation.
    Thanks.

Thanks. Yes I am referrring to 9.2, I guess that is
the last version in the 9 serries. Since Oracle released 10.1.x and 10.2.x your assumption is correct.
I may not have access to the document that you
mentioned. It would be good though if you could send
some links that I could refer to.Without access to metalink, links referring to that document won't be of any use for you. And I'd assume that I'm not allowed to post the mentioned document (or any other) from metalink.
Bottom line of that document: For 9.2.0.x, Premier Support ends (probably) on 1st of July 2007, Extended Support (again probably) on 1st of July 2010. Maybe it's time for you to contact your local Oracle Support/Sales Office?

  • Oracle Technology Support Champion

    Dear all,
How to get this certificate.. Oracle Technology Support Champion. am unable to get any details about this..My company needs me to be certified as per some contract with the client.
    Please advise
    Kai

I would just like to verify for Kai and all, that the Oracle Support Champion is not a part of the Oracle Certification Program. This OPN credential is not an Oracle certification. You may represent yourself as an Oracle Support Champion based on the appropriate OPN guidelines, but you may not represent yourself as "Oracle Certified."

  • How we can run Oracle Batch Manager in Oracle Sales Analyzer

    Hi,
Please guide me how we can run Oracle Batch Manager in Oracle Sales Analyser.
    Best Regards,

You cannot run Batch Manager directly from within the OSA Administrator or Analyzer clients. Batch Manager has its own GUI client that can be used the define and schedule jobs, however, it also possible to run and montitor jobs via command line as well.
    The documentation helps explain this:

    Does that help?

  • How to convert Oracle charset database

I have a Oracle database which set charset "WE8ISO8859P1". how can I convert to "SJIS" charset that dont need create new database

    You can't.
You can successfully convert an Oracle database's charset without database recreation if and only if 1) the original charset is a strict subset of the final charset (the letters in the set) and 2) the codepoints (the numbers that encode the letters) in the original charset don't change in the final charset and 3) all of the data in the database actually is encoded in the original charset (or at least is correctly encoded in the final charset). This is because this type of conversion is accomplished by simply slapping a new charest lable on the database as a whole; none of the binary values in the data get looked at, much less touched. If you "convert" a database and all three are not true, then some or all of your string data becomes complete and utter garbage.
For WE8ISO8859P1 to SJIS, both 1) and 2) are false.
    3) becomes an issue because of what Oracle calls an optimization and I call a stupidity; when a database recieves string data from a client that asserts it's using the same charset, nothing checks that the data passed is actually in that charset; thus is it's trivially easy to get 8-bit data in a 7-bit US7ASCII database; it will read and write correctly until the day you try to convert to a superset of US7ASCII, such as UTF8. Then WHAM! Data corruption.
Oracle customers with support contracts can get a lot of documentation about character set conversions from the Metalink support site. Oracle also strongly recommends that customers file a support request for conversions (although someone who reads all the docs and understands character encoding and the NLS settings can muddle through on their own). Oracle also has lot of free documentation about globalization and character sets on the OTN site, which just requires a registration, but I'm not sure the nitty gritty details are there.
For non-subset conversions, the way to do it is to export the data, create a new database and import the data. Conversion to the new encoding will occur on import.
There is a utility, CSSCAN, that can be used to prepare for a conversion. It will scan the database for strings that will have difficulty converting.
Besides the possible issue of data that is outside of the original charset, it will also check for data that will be truncated on conversion. By default, the size specification of a VARCHAR2 in Oracle is the number of bytes; when a character is converted, it may expand the number of bytes that it requires, for example when switching form a 7 or 8 bit encoding to a 16 bit encoding. If enough characters in a value are expanded, the data exceeds the size of the column and is truncated or dropped (I forget). Recent Oracle versions lets you change from having the DB count size in bytes to counting size in characters; I don't yet know if this plays nice with imports with character set conversion (I'll know in a few months).

  • How to become Authorized Trainer

    Hi all,
I am project management consultant and trainer. As part of my job , I train Primavera P6 Professional at various levels.
My question is how can I become Oracle Primavera Authorized/ certified trainer? it is must be through Oracle Partner? or could be obtained individually?
and what is the steps or actions required to become certified?
Thank you very much for your support and and assistance.
    Abdullah

    Abdullah,
You can obtain the Primavera certification by passing the appropriate exam. You can find the available Primavera certifications and requirements on our website at certification.oracle.com.
As far as becoming an authorized trainer, we don't offer this type of program. You'd need to be a trainer at an Authorized Oracle Training Center or Traning Partner.
