I am moving to europe and have alot of videos on dvds and music cds that I want to bring over. Insted of packing the discs, I thought it might be a good idea to put them on my pc, convert them, and then watch/listen to them on my apple tv. I would like to put these files on an external hdd that is networked using airport extreme, the newest one with the usb in the back of it. Then I figure,there must be some way to be able to watch/listen to the content on that drive over the wireless network throughout the house and on apple TV? The computers I have for this network are all BRAND NEW apples. One Macbook, and one imac, both have bluetooth and 802.11n. So, if this could work, let me know, if not, tell me how to do it by connecting it (hdd) to a computer please. I have only bought the macs but will buy whatever you guys reccomend for the best setup for apple tv so tell me everything I need to do it right. Also, I dont know how much bandwidth you need to sync or stream with apple tv but here is what I am dealing with, a three story 6,000 sq. ft. home. Will one airport extreme do the job at 802.11n or do I need more? If I do how would I set them up? Also, isnt there something that can expand the range of your airport that apple makes that is sort of like a smaller airport that plugs into the wall? If so how would I set this up? Thank you very very much, and by the way, if it isn't clear, I have a high speed connection if you needed to know that.

Provided your movie files are in an Apple compatible format it is certainly possible to stream them from an external drive but you must have an Apple/PC switched on with iTunes running as it's iTunes that streams the files to AppleTV, rather than AppleTV knowing where the iTunes files are and fetching them itself.
Streaming from an external drive is more likely to work if it is directly connected to the Mac running iTunes, as the datapath is shorter for streaming:
Ext HD>Mac (iTunes)>router>Apple TV
as opposed to,
Ext HD>router>Mac (iTunes)>router>Apple TV
Each step in the chain can potentially add some delay so the fewer steps the more likely streaming is to be successful.
As far as the question about an extreme being successful for wi-fi in the house, there are too many variables to give a definite yes or no with any house. It all depends on distance of devices from each other, lack of neighbouring/local interference and the materials used for construction in the house will determine the strength of through transmission of wireless signals together with vicinity of local objects such as fridges/microwave.
It may well work, but I don't think anyone could guarantee it until you try.
In terms of not transporting your original discs be aware that video conversion takes quite some time to accomplish so it might be better to transfer the original files and convert at a future date if your time span is short. Alternatively consider getting a big lightweight nylon CD/DVD holder and just bring the original discs without the cases/packaging.
You could use something like an Airport express to expand the network range but it adds another link to the chain so to speak and I'd try and manage without first if at all possible.
Even if a network was a bit too slow to stream movies it should suffice for music and you could always slowly sync movies to the AppleTV in advance of watching them if your content outstrips AppleTV capacity.

You can delete the iCloud account from her phone by going to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and choose Delete Account. I believe you will get a prompt asking if you want to remove or keep the data on the phone; if you don't want your contacts on her phone choose delete. As far as the contact on your old SIM card, if it is the same size as the iPhone SIM card you can put it in the iPhone and import the contacts (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4994). If the SIM card won't fit, then you would need to either export the contacts to your computer using appropriate software, upload your contacts to a cloud service so you can download them to your computer, or in some cases take it and your iPhone to your retailer and ask them if they can do the transfer for you. (It's also possible to cut a SIM card down to fit but it can be tricky to get it right. There are articles on this if you search with Google.) Since Soundtrack (was part of FinalCut Express HD) doesn't work anymore (since some ProKit framework update) and was not part of the FinalCut Express 4 upgrade I used Garageband for sound creation and editing. But I missed some good loops from the old Soundtrack.
The Apple Loops for Soundtrack were still sitting on my harddisk but Garageband didn't recognize them in the Loop-Browser. Looking at the structure I found the Search Index files (/Library/Audio/Apple Loop Index/). I have two there, one for Garageband and another for iLife Sound Effects. Both are interpreted by Garageband. But no third for the old Soundtrack Loops. So I had a look at the Sound Loops installer DVD from FinalCut HD and there I found a similar structur and copied the Index file to the location of the two indexes mentioned above. I left the Loops for Soundtrack where they are (also could edit the index file for new locations, but that's a 7.5MB text file) and now Garageband knows their location and also lists the loops at the right categories inside the Loop-Browser.
Maybe that helps someone, even if I didn't find a topic about it here.

Ah.. ok, then never mind. Just didn't find any information about how to use the old soundtrack loops with garageband and so I did some thinking on my own. And if it works that easy, the better it is
