How to best change shoulder shape with pen tool: cut graphic in half and reflect?

Hi,
I'm working with a .eps file of a mannequin. I need to make the shoulders more square and more rounded to show variations on body type. I'm not an illustrator whiz, but I thought that it would be best to slice the graphic down the middle, alter one shoulder, and then reflect it so that they are even. But how do I do cut it in half?
I've been playing with the convert anchor point tool to change the should shape and while it works, it's very hard for me to replicate the exact same effect on the opposite side. I've uploaded the file so that you can see what I'm talking about. If anyone could suggest the best route, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

For the scissors, you need to insert extra anchor points at the cutting point.
It is not necessary to insert an anchorPoint before cutting a segment with the Scissor.
Also, assuming we're talking about closed or filled path(s) here:
1. Knife Tool.
2. Press and hold Alt.
3. Drag the Knife all the way across the Path(s). Add Shift to constrain to vertical/horizontal/45 diagonal angles.
If the paths are open and unfilled, the Knife tool is useless. It also does not abide by SmartGuides. (Illustrator has three cutting tools and they are all pathetic.)

  • How can i change the color of pen tool in photoshop cs6?

I want to change the color vector of pen tool in photoshop cs6?

Just to make sure we're communicating properly...
Is it that while creating a path you want the thin lines, handles, etc. to be a different color?
Or is it that after you create your path you want to stroke it with a color?  It IS possible to stroke a path, and even to have an automatic Layer Stroke on a path that's any size/color shape you want.  Example:

  • Draw a strokeless shape with pen tool?

Is it possible to draw a strokeless shape with the pen tool (as in Illustrator)?
It is quite tedious to have to go back and remove strokes from my shapes.... especially since I can't see how to do it without clicking on each segment and hitting "delete"!
    Thanks!

Select the entire shape with the strokes and go to the Properties Inspector or Tools Panel and select no stroke.
    Hope this helps!

  • Fill shape with pen tool

    Hi there,
this might be a very simple question, but couldn't figure it out ..
I made a Title in Premiere and I want to draw a shape with the pen tool.
However this only results into a shape with line instead of it being filled.
So my question: how to draw a filled shape in Premiere Pro with the pen tool?
    Thanks in advance

Set Graphic Type to Filled Bezier, that will fill the shape.

  • How to Extrude a path created with Pen Tool

    Hi All
I have created a path with the pen tool (the brown part), and now I want to extrude it, but it extrudes the whole containing block (See image below)
Now I have tried everything, from grouping to compound paths etc, but nothing works.
How do I extrude my path?
    Thank you

...and Texturized it AFTER the extrusion....
Applied a Grain Texture after the extrusion.
    For clarity:
Always pay attention to the Appearance palette. The order of the items in the Appearance stack reflects the order in which they are applied.
A so-called "live effect" (of which both 3D Effect and Grain Texturizer are examples) is an operation which is automatically re-applied after you make an edit to the object to which it is applied. The effects are applied in the order in which they appear in the Appearance stack, from top to bottom.
    1. Ellipse Tool: Draw an ellipse. Leave it selected.
    2. Apply 3D Effect.
    3. Apply Texturize Effect.
Look at the Appearance palette. 3D Effect is listed above Texturizer, and the whole 3D rendering is texturized.
    4. Appearance palette: Drag 3D Effect to below Texurizer. The unwanted extrusion of the entire texture image appears.

  • How to draw a shape with line tool then fill with colour

How can i draw a shape with the line tool and then fill it with colour

Click and drag from one anchor point to the next, making sure that each new line segment begins where the last one ended. The Line Tool will snap onto the anchors.
Once you're done creating what looks like a closed path, the lines are still separate objects. To combine them into one path, select them all and press Ctrl/Cmd+J (for Join) or via the menu select Object > Path > Join.
The Pen Tool can be used in a similar manner, but each segment will be a continuation rather than a separate object. The last (closing) click will be indicated by a tiny circle on the mouse pointer.
If you make an open path, Ai will still "fill" it with a fill color by assuming a straight path between the last open anchor points. Individual straight paths, however, such as those drawn by the line tool, have no "inside", so they won't show the fill color even if you have assigned one.

You can't do that in Pages. If you need text in an arch use Art text 2 lite, free from the Mac AppStore.

  • How to hide white space with pen tool

Ok so im tracing with the pen tool, and there is a white area that fills in unnecessarily. The  lynda video says use View>Outline, but that is making the thing i am tracing disappear! how do i make it so the white polygons only disappear on the layer with the pen?

Set the Pen tool to have a stroke and no fill. Either will do it.

  • [bug report] Making selection with pen tool causes 'jittery' edge

When I use the pen tool to create a path, and then make a selection from it and select inverse and delete the background, the result is a very un-even edge not the clean resullt you would expect, however if I make a mask from the same selection it looks fine.
    Steps to recreate
    1. Draw a simple path with the pen tool
    2. Make a selection from the path, with 0 feather and anti alias turned on
    3. Inverse selection (optional, same thing happens if you don't inverse)
    4. Delete the rest of the image
    5. The edge of the image now has an uneven, jittery edge
    compared to mask
    5. Undo the delete
    6. Go to Channel Pallette, and make a mask from the selection
    7. Edge of the mask should be clean like you would expect
You can exaggerate the jittery effect by adding feather the the path selection

Ok please Delete this I've sorted it. The blending mode had jumped to disolve.... but I 100% didn't change it to this myself, I wasn't even in the layer pallette at the time

How do I change the size of the tools and the text for the menus in Photoshop?  I need a magnifying glass in order to make out what they are.

Okay, I've figured it out, so I'm going to answer my own question in hopes that it may help anyone else that would like to actually be able to see what they're doing when using Photoshop CC 2014 on a high resolution screen.
    1.  Open Photoshop.
    2.  Select Preferences from the Edit Menu, then select General.
    3.  Change the HUD Color Picker to Hue Strip (Medium).
    4.  Select Interface from the Preferences menu on the left side of the dialog box.
    5.  Change the UI Font Size to Large in the Text area of the Preferences dialog box.
    6.  Select Experimental Features from the Preferences menu on the left side of the dialog box.
    7.  Select Scale UI 200% for high-density displays (Windows only).
    8.  Click on OK, then Exit/Quit Photoshop.
    9.  Open Photoshop and everything should be readable.
