How to Block a Phone Number - Answered

I've been doing some research on this, and there are several 'answered' threads in which people are claiming that it is impossible to block numbers with AT&T. Learn to research, or maybe don't talk about things you haven't any idea about.
After maybe 5 minutes of searching I found this. It may be aimed at overprotective parents, but it offers the ability to block numbers from calling and texting you.
AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless is a new online service that enables you to provide your children with the freedom and security of wireless service while setting sensible boundaries for its use. An easy online setup allows you to determine specifically how and when your child can use the phone. You can set limits for:
Number of text and instant messages
Dollar amount for downloadable purchases (ringtones, games and more)
Times of day the phone can be used for messaging, browsing and outbound calling
Who the phone can call or text (incoming and outgoing) by blocking and allowing certain numbers
Access to content inappropriate for children
Please Note: This product cannot currently be used to set specific monthly limits for minutes. All incoming calls are allowed at all times except from numbers you designate as “Blocked Numbers”.
As your child approaches the text and download limits, he/she will receive an advance warning. Once a limit is reached, there will be a notification the action is restricted and the service will be stopped until the next billing cycle begins.
Calls and text messages to and from phone numbers you designate as “Allowed Numbers” and calls to 911 will continue to be permitted regardless of the limits you set.

Doing a little more research, I have found that for the iPhone you need to call AT&T customer service in order to add Smart Limits, you can't do it online for some reason. Don't let the customer service person tell you they can't do it, they can. Apparently some of them think they can't.

My wife uses Mr Number Call Blocker, she likes it.
If I recall correctly, there's free and paid version.
You cannot do this blocking from within the native OS.

You cannot do this on the iPhone - this is a feature/service that must be provided by the carrier. Contact your carrier and ask if they can do this. In the US, for example, AT&T offers as part of the SmartLimits package.

Michael is right, you can easily get around it by simply assigning a silent ringtone.
Google "silent ringtone" (don't pay for it, you can find it free) and download it. I've created an "Annoying Cr@p"
"contact" that I've assigned the silent ringtone to and I simply cut and paste the numbers I want blocked into it.
No more salesmen, political party calls, etc.- the phone does light up when they call, but you hear nothing- and usually miss them all together. I've assigned a nice little image of a stuffed dog pooh to it (google "poop toy"), and when someone does see it (as one of my co-workers saw it light up on my desk once) it makes for a *great* laugh.
Works like a champ. Takes minutes.

Depends on whether you are using the same iCloud account on the device, or if you are syncing Contacts via iTunes, if you are syncing both devices to the same computer.
When you block someone, no matter which application you "launch" the block from (Messages, Phone, FaceTime) you are blocking the Contact. So, any app that uses that contact will see it as a blocked contact and will block any incoming activity to that app from that contact.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
The native software in the Blackberry doesn't have that function.
1) If the phone number poses any threat to you. Call your carrier and have them block the number permanently.
2) If the phone number is just a nuisance i.e.. bill collector, phone sales etc I would use a call manager app. Look in AppWorld under call manager. Some are free. I haven't test one in about 2 years so I can't recommend one.

I just want to add another telephone number to an existing contact. I don't want to Add detail, Edit label, etc., just to add another telephone number! Simple.
Apparently the solution is this:
On main screen write any number 0123456789 >> Press >> Option >> Save to Contacts >> Update Existing (Scroll or name your last saved contact or where you wanted to add new number) then save!
It is an amazingly anti intuitive and convoluted solution but I'm afraid that the entire UI of S60 3rd addition is one big UI mess!
