How to block junk e-mail on iphone/ mobile me account

hello,
My 1st post to support community. Hope you can be patient with me
I am looking for help. I would like to know if there is a way to identify & block junk email on my iPhone. My service provider is Verizon (I have not checked with Verizon). The email account for iPhone  is my   ********me.com account.
Do I block at me.com or on iPhone?
thank you

Mail filtering must be done at the server level. So, see if your mail provider offers filtering & how to setup the various rules. Such cannot be done on the phone itself.

  • How do you set up Mail without a mobile me account?

I am trying to set up my sister's new Macbook so she can send and receive mail.
She does not have a mobile me or .mac account.
She had been using an older powerbook, using Safari and a yahoo account.
Now, with this new Macbook in Snow Leopard, I want her to be able to use Mail but am unable figure out what settings to use.
Her ISP is something called HEMC. On the older machine, in Entourage, the account name looked like this: username@hemc(POP). Though she did not actually use Entoourage, she used web mail (Safari or Firefox and her Yahoo account.
For incoming mail server I have tried mail.yahoo.com; and pop3.yahoo. com; and mail.hemc.com
    None of these work.
    For outgoing I have tried all sorts of variations of smtp. Smtp.yahoo.com; smtp.hemc.com;
Meanwhile, if I use Safari and log in to her mail account there, all is working.
I ran into this before trying to help someone else. This is a snap if you have a mobile me account. But not if you don't.

    Yahoo! Mail Settings
Yahoo Mail offers standard POP3 access for receiving emails incoming through your Yahoo mailbox, by using your favorite email client software. To setup your email client for working with your Yahoo account, you need to select the POP3 protocol and use the following mail server settings:
    Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)
POP Yahoo! Mail Plus email server settings
Yahoo Plus Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995)
Yahoo Plus Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465, use authentication)
    Google GMail Settings
The Google GMail service offers email client access for retrieving and sending emails through your Gmail account. However, for security reasons, GMail uses POP3 over an SSL connection, so make sure your email client supports encrypted SSL connections.
Google Gmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.gmail.com (SSL enabled, port 995)
Outgoing Mail Server - use the SMTP mail server address provided by your local ISP or smtp.gmail.com (SSL enabled, port 465)

  • Blocking Junk E-mail

I just got my iphone and I have my email set up, is there any way to block unwanted junk e-mail?

I utilize the Junk mail blocking in mail.app. As long as that's up and running on my desktop, items that go to the junk folder never appear on my iPhone. Similarly, though, anything that does filtering at the server shouldn't be allowing emails to transfer over.
Actually, if they're being "filtered" but left in the inbox, that might cause it.

  • How to Block send e-mail by telnet using Exchange 2010

    Hi
I have Exchange 2010 SP3 server (Edge and Database servers).
When i logon to exchange server: telnet mail.domain.com 25using commands:
    mail from:[email protected]
    rcpt to:[email protected]
I can send e-mails without password.
How to block it? What is wrong with this server settings?
    Kind Regards Tomasz

you can change the receive connector that is listening on port 25 to require authentication removing the anonymous the problem will be every server that sends you email will need to have a password on your server so  you will not receive email
form anyone unless they have the password configured if you only want to receive email on this server from another trusted server than this is how you do it, otherwise you need to leave anonymous access enabled. Spam appliances sometimes will be the only server
allowed to send to your exchange server, but the spam appliance will have anonymous access allowed on port 25 so it can get the email. Typically the distribution of port 25 traffic is handled at the firewall and it's either sending port 25 traffic to
your email server or a spam appliance.

  • How do i delete all mail settings for an exchange account

I have an exchange account that is somehow wrong.  By wrong I mean corrupted to the point that it will not login to the exchange server, and then after too many attempts it locks me out of the exchange account.  Apple mail and MS Exchange.

Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility has the option to repair permissions, which should be given at least 2 hours to finish. Sometimes this fixes launching issues with Mail.
Applications -> Utilities -> Keychain Access lets you delete mail passwords which will be obvious what they are from the Keychain program. You may simply be able to repair the keychain which that program has the option of doing to fix your problem with Mail.
Users -> yourname -> Library -> Mail and Mail Downloads folders store all your locally stored e-mail.
    Users -> yourname -> Library -> Preferences -> com.apple.mail.plist
stores all the account setting information (not the actual mail) so you have to re-establish the account.

  • Transfering an e-mail address to Mobile Me account.  Do I need to?

    Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if this post should go here or perhaps in the Mobile Me area. It involves both iWeb and Mobile Me.
    ===
For about the last 10 years I’ve had my own domain name [www.morrisacevedo.com] It’s been hosted by various companies. The latest one was Network Solutions. However, I just moved my website over to my Mobile Me account. The reason is that I was able to make a much better looking and functioning website on my own with iWeb than I was able to with DreamWeaver given my limited skills.
My website is currently on the Mobile Me account and not on Network Solutions and is working perfectly. The Network Solutions account ends at the end of November but I wanted to move the website before it expired.
    Here is my question:
I have also had my e-mail address for the website as [email protected] My e-mail is working but I think that it’s still going through Network Solutions. How do I transfer [email protected] over to Mobile Me so that it still works after my Network Solutions account ends in a couple of weeks?
I just have feeling that pointing [email protected] over to the Mobile Me hosting may not have taken care of my e-mail account as well. Does that make sense?

I don't believe you can transfer/forward the email to MMe. When your contract ends with your current host so should the email address. If your site is up and running on MMe today, put a notice on your first page that you email address has changed and give it. But don't put it in text. Type in it iWeb and then take a screenshot of it and post the screenshot image file. You don't want spam crawlers harvesting your email address.
You could encode your email address by one of the methods in this demo page: Embedding Forms & Encoding Email Addresses.
You do know that you can create alias email addresses with your MMe account. You can have one for personal, one for business and one for online shopping (if you start getting span at that shopping email address you can delete it from the aliases and create a new alias).
Also, until your contract is up in November forward your old email to your new MMe email so your replies will be from your new email address.

  • Can i sync my iphone/mobile me account to two different macs

I've got two macs now in the house! The first one I bought was such a nice conversion from windows that I replaced the family computer with a mac as well. So can I hook up my mobile me/iphone up on my other computer as well without any weird issues because it's on two computers.

You can sync multiple computers to Mobile Me with no issues - that is what it is primarily designed for. I have a Dell, Mac Pro and MBP all syncing to 1 mobile me account.
As for the iPhone, it can only sync to one media library at a time.

  • How to block the status mail for an inbound Idoc to a specific user

    Hi,
I have to stop sending the error status mail to a specific user depenidng on Partner Type. This will trigger when an inbound Idoc contains status error(message type INVOIC &ORDRSP).This user needs other mails which are getting triggered with the same Idoc for the same partner. Basically, the requirement is to block only the status mail for that user. The statndard task for this is TS70008125 and it uses the agent determination rule 30000001 (Idoc Administrator).in WE46, this task is assigned to process code EDIR. I have copied the task to a custom task and changed the agent determination rule. I would like to know how will I configure this task so that this custom task will trigger for the status error, without altering other workflows for the same message type & the partner type. Or is there any other way to block the mail?
    Thanks,
    Santosh

    Hi,
I have done the required coding to exclude the specific agent from the rule, copied the task and its ready. My question is how do I map this custom task to a particular partner type, for the message type INVOIC in WE20? (The message type used for the inbound Idoc is INVOIC). I checked the Partner profile in WE20. Most of the process code is using function module as the processing type.
    Thanks,
    Santosh

  • How to block ads in Mail?

    Hi guys,
I seldom use Mail, but every once in a a while, it can come in handy when Thunderbird, my default client, refuses to work properly. I always create the same accounts in both apps, but there's one thing (among others) that Thunderbird has, and Mail doesn't: an ad-killer. Is there a way to stop ads from being displayed within emails in Mail, the way Adblock Plus does in products of the Mozilla family?

    Hi guys,
Thanks for your answers! Actually, I receive a lot of newsletters from various websites, and they're ripe with ads. That's how those guys make a living, I guess, but I don't like the visual pollution and would rather stick with Thunderbird and its ad-blocking capabilities. My question was more in the since-Safari-has-ad-blocking-then-why-not-Mail? variety. Could an AppleScript do the job, if I fed it a black list of URLs to block? How would it have to be done?

  • How to block an e-mail address

    How can I block a specific e-mail sender ?

No way to set it up in Mail. You can do it with your provider if they have that capability. Yahoo/Att can do it at the website.
You can create a rule in Mail to delete messages from specific senders if you wish.
