How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion? I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8) since November until now. Mail will no longer download on the MacBook Pro and keeps asking for my password.
Mail should still be usable with your machine - but you'll need to update the settings to conform to the requirements of your system. Check with your ISP (like ATT, etc.) for the settings that will work with your Mail. Once you've updated this, you should be able to email like before.
For example, my ISP required that I go to Mail Preferences/Accounts and make sure the details conform to your email settings.
I have no idea of what your ISP is or what the settings might be, but this is likely the source of the problem. -

Make sure you read the system requirements. Also install Rosetta if you want Power PC applications to run.

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.

Your Mac needs:

2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)

I have the newer version of the macbook pro and I have read the directions on how to authorize your computer to let you download previous song purchases from icloud onto your laptop, but I cannot find where it says "authorize this computer" at all. I have looked for it everywhere and still cannot find it. Please help!

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us. -

Hello fellow Macbook Pro user's,
Safari keeps stoping on Macbook Pro running OSX 10.6.8. I'll startup the laptop and go to a few different websites, the type in, or click on a link, or bookmark to go to a differrent website, and it stops working.
Only thing I can do is shut down the Laptop and restart it.
What can I try to stop this problem?Depends on how the partitons are arranged. If they're exactly as quoted, then yes.
Open Disk Utility and select the partition tab.
In the diagram, the top partition needs to be the one you're booted from, and partition 2 the middle one.
Select Partiton 2 so that it's highlighted, and click the '-' button below the diagram.
Drag the bottom right corner of partition 1 down to meet partition 3. -

It does not play nice with a very important piece of software I am using.
The other post on how to "uninstall" does not apply to my situation. I tried it and got this error when using the 7.0.1 Reinstaller:
"Your computer does not have the hardware required to run this software"
Help please.Flash support is disabled (by default) in version 7.1.3.
To turn it back on simply open the QT Sys Prefs Pane/Advanced and check the box to "Enable Flash".
Quit and restart QT for these changes to take effect.
QuickTime only supports Flash (.swf files) that are "published" as version 5, or lower. -

You have to contact Adobe. Since it is a current version you can get a Mac disk but have to shred the Windows disk. Other option subscribe to CC and you can use either OS.
