It might not be any use to your situation but I find adding a default ringtone to those unwanted callers helps me decide whether or not to pick up the phone.
If it's cold callers that trouble you I would defintely reccomend this option.
If they know your not answering they will (although it may take some time) leave you alone.

Back it up in iTunes! Just make a backup of the entire device but make sure you check sync contacts and the option to add contacts from phone to address book on computer.

Alexandribill, I have been having the exact same issue. I got a new phone and restored my contacts. If the # doesn't have the area code first then the name isn't shown. I just added my husbands area code to my phone and called my phone from his and now his name shows up...Ugh, I have to go through and manually add the area code to all my contacts....
I'd say Verizon needs to rewrite their program to include the area code in the restoring from backup process!

Are you connecting to a different iTunes library than you normally connect to? That will erase the songs and playlists since the iPhone can't be connected to multiple libraries even if it is in manual sync mode.
If you no longer have access to the original library that your iPhone calls 'home', then the only way to save the playlist (and the songs on your iPhone) would be to use a 3rd party application to extract your iPhone contents to this new iTunes library you're trying to connect to.

Yes, yes, yes. I am well aware about your line of Verizon is "THE Phone Company". Unfortunately, everyone was not subscribed to "THE Phone Company" back before "THE Phone Company" was broken up. Some people have lines which were not in existence and have never been subscribers to "THE Phone Company". There are new area codes and numbers since "THE Phone Company" was broken up. I was unaware Straight Talk, T-Mobile, Sprint, Time Warner Cable, MagicJack, etc... automatically provide ALL of the private information of their subscribers to "THE Phone Company" simply so these other companies can exist. I was unaware "THE Phone Company" required each and every phone provider in the US to gather information for the USER of a phone when that USER was not the account owner. I don't remember giving my 15 year old daughter's information to "THE Phone Company" when I opened up her line 5 years ago. Obviously I did, since "THE Phone Company" has it as you would lead us to believe. I wasn't aware "THE Phone Company" required someone opening an account with 10 lines to provide the private user information for each and every one of those lines. When I opened up my 4 line account, I only remember giving out MY information. I don't remember validating everyone on the account was related to me. I don't remember giving out the names/DOB/SS #/etc... for everyone using the phones on my account. That information must have simply slipped my mind.

The OP wants to know the name of the person making the call. Furthermore, if they don't even gather this information of their own subscribers, why would you expect they have this information on the subscribers to other phone providers? It is not required to open a 10 line account. They do not run credit checks on all the users. They do not require SS#s on all of the users. They only require this information on the account owner. Are they staking out the account owner and following him/her to determine who is using the phones on his/her account? I guess I am simply too trusting.

The users of these phones aren't necessarily and more often every day not even related. "THE Phone Company" doesn't necessarily and is UNLIKELY to know the identity of the majority of people using phones on an account. The account owner, yes. Everyone else, NO. People making a call are just as likely using an area code/phone number of a location they don't even physically reside. "Back in the way old days" this was much less commonplace.
Yes, they MAY be able to get the name of a caller, but it would take time and COULD take a considerable amount of time depending on the cooperation of the account owner.

I am perplexed where you read that. It isn't true. The iPad is synced to the data available to all devices using the iCloud account if you have authorized it in the settings; PhotoStream, Contacts, Mail, Calendars, etc. That is how the iCloud works.

1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

1: I got a call from this phone number telling me this is so and so from Netgear , (855)999-9115 .The reason i am calling you is we detected that someone had hacked your Netgear Router and he told me to type in the Google search bar logmein123.com , So i did so and then he told me to type 5 or 6 numbers so he can go inn to my computer to repare it (All this over my cell phone) Not sure how he got it or he was the original to hack my system and get all my infor from my Two Iphones,Macbook Pro ,Ipad Air and my Imac .
So he start doing not sure what put me on hold each time and then he pops up a page higlighting a name by Midnight Gracie a few times that she or he had hacked your system and he will remove it for free.I trusted him since Netgear is a respectful company , Aftey 32 minutes he tells me i spoke to my supervisor and you pay one time lifetime fee of $399.00 charged to your credit card ,I said no way cant ,Then put me on hold again , came back said ok my supervisor said $299.00 to make story short he siad ok you are over 65 years old special price $49.00 and i will fix your system.Then i said no so he started loging out of my system but in the 32 minutes or more what did he do to my computer ?
The guy sunded as a Philipino . Two guys after this scam since when he called me first i was driving and asked me to be called back , But when i got home i called him and the other guy asnwerd the phone and said ok the Technician that called you is here and talk to him,It it was Netgear how would you knopw who called.
This namber is a big scam , Many people got screwed paid money and wrote reviews on Yelp and other places that thye where great fixed there computer and so helpfull.
I filed a complaint at the Internet FBI and other place that i called forgot there names they take complaints for internet fraud .
BE AWARE NOT TO GET THROUGH THIS , REPORT THEM SO THEY GO TO JAIL ASAP.

1. I'd backup all of my personal data (only) and perform a clean install of OSX if I experienced your problem as no one here or elsewhere could guarantee your machine is free from compromise after that scenario. You should also change your Apple ID password if you haven't done this already.
2. Ultimately trust no one other than yourself even though this is difficult if not impossible in the real world. There are measures you can take however which will lessen your chances of being compromised.
