How to block stolen ipod touch from a distance? please help

Hi,
My whole handbag was stolen today in a store, inside was my purse, smart-phone and my Ipod touch.
What can I do to block my ipod from a distance.
If I can't have it back, they don't deserve to get it for free.
Please help.
Thanks,
Heidi

- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod for their own use or to sell it.
If you has already turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and wifi is on and connected you may be able to locate and wipe it. Go to iCloud, sign in and go to findMyPhone. If the iPod i restored the find feature is deleted.
- Apple will not help with anything
Report to police and the store and change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod

hello... my ipod touch was stolen last night and i'm trying to figure out how to block the ipod using just the serial number.... i'm not quiet sure if the "find my iphone" apps is still accessible since it can be reset and all the data that's been saved will be deleted.

The SN will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is recovered.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • Ipod touch restore problem *URGENT PLEASE HELP*

Ok well I just inherited an Ipod touch from my friend who upgraded to a iPhone and it has a lock code, which I don't know. I called up my friend and asked him the code, he didn't know it of course... so i just guessed passwords and it said it was locked, I only have one more try until it locks permanently. So, I tried resetting it and it didn,t work. so i put it in recovery mode and it was gonna be ok, but my problem is I have slow dial-up internet and cannot re-download the software because my internet turns off randomly and it takes about 35 hours straight to download the 280MB, my other problem is that every time the download is disrupted, what itunes has already downloaded deletes itself and I have to start over from zero. I cannot fully download the software and have no access to hi-speed internet, I need a solution please otherwise im sitting here with a $300 piece of junk.

Just bring it over to your friends house and have him reset it for you. Then bring it to your house to put your music on it.
It is as simple as that. Too bad you have dial-up still. I use broadband and it is very fast.

  • How to block an Ipod Touch stolen

Hi.. my ipod touch 4g 32gb has been stolen. Is there any way of getting it blocked so they cannot use it like blocking via serial  number or something? My accounts are still active on that device. I have changed all of my active passwords though. But would really appreciate if there is a way on how to block them from using that device. Thanks.

The only way I know of is if you had setup the "Find My iPhone" Application from Apple. I'm pretty sure it's too late now though. Which I am sorry to say that you may be out of an iPod.

my dad wants to swap his iphone with my ipod touch.
i want to transfer my songs to his iphone and vise-versa for his.
we each have our own laptop.
so do i just plug-in my dad's iphone to my PC so i can transfer my songs???

i'd hold on until someone confirms this, but i think you just restore both with the backup from the other one.
plug in your iPod to his computer, click restore, when the option to restore to backup comes up, click that.
then plug the iPhone to your laptop, and do the same.

  • On my THIRD iPod Touch aka " Mr. Freeze" Please Help!!!

I got my first 16GB iPod touch back in November and it was GREAT! I never had any function problems at all. It always tuned on , turned off , charged , synced , slept , and played just as it was supposed to. Then after about 2 months the left channel audio started cutting out . So I made a service request and sent it off to AppleCare where they quickly identified the problem and replaced my iPod with a different one.
Now the first night I had this replacement iPod it froze up on me and would not do anything until I held the home and Power button for 5 seconds until it restarts. This became a daily ritual. EVERYDAY I would go to use this iPod and it would be frozen , you could look at the screen under direct light and see that the screen was not completely off , you could not see pictures or backgrounds just different shades of black blocks and bars accross the screen vertically. And while it is in the frozen state is drains the battery VERY quickly. I can finish using the iPod at the end the end of the day with at least 75% battery left , turn it off and go home and check it 2 hours later and it will be frozen and when I get it to restart the battery is in the RED. When it is in this frozen state connecting it to the computer does nothing , the computer will not see it at all as long as it is frozen. It tried the 5 R's to every extent with no positive results.
So I got frusterated and made another service request and sent it off to AppleCare to be "Serviced". They said their technicians could find nothing wrong with it , that it met all of Apples quality control guidelines and function as expected by Apple , so they sent is back to me. It arrived to me FROZEN again!
So I tried to use it as was for about another month and decided you know what my first touch NEVER did anything like this in the 2 months I had it so I know it doesn't have to be this way. So I made another service request for this same (my 2nd) touch. Only this time I sent copies of a letter explaining every detail of the problems , and insisting that they either repair/replace or refund my money. Funny enough this time they iddentified and issue with it and replaced it with what is now my 3rd iPod touch.
Now this 3rd Touch does not do what the second one does. I does something NEW. it keeps going into RECOVERY mode , whatever the **** that is , so I will go to use it and it will not function nor turn on and when I connect it to my computer it says iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode and it must be restored before it can be used! So this morning I got up for work ejected the touch from my PC , it had been charging , slid the slider to unlock it and verified it was charged and ready to go abnd then turned the screen off and drove to work. Fifteen minutes later I go to turn the music on and it is stuck in recovery mode. Now I have really had it!!! If it's not annoying enough that this has to keep happening all my music is on my PC at home. So I plug it in to my PC at work and its says it has detected an iPod in recovery mode and must be restored, so I can restore it but then there is no Music on it until I can get back home to resync it with my home PC. So for the entire rest of the day I have and iPod that is no longer frozen , but also has NO content on it!This happens once maybe twice a week , not near as frequent as the last replacement Touch they sent me and it seems to be a different issue also , but still a problem just the same.
I don't understand why this keeps happening?!?! All the content is the same accross all 3 Touch's I have had. My usage remains the same for all 3. Nothing has changed accept the Firmware version between the three. The first touch was 1.1.2 the second was 1.1.3 and the third is 1.1.4.
And of course I never had any problems until I purchased the January Software Upgrade POS. Is it possible that the JSU is causing all of this? Is there a way to remove the JSU off of this Touch or would I have to revert back to 1.1.2 Firmare? And if so can it be done? If I have to do that and it is indeed the problem can I obtain a refund for the JSU because it CRIPPLES the iPod??
PLEASE help , any advice is greatly appeciated! Thanks
    -Cody

Well, I am VERY particular about keeping my electronics MINT. I have never not used a protective case and I have to say it is almost heart breaking to imagine the scratchs my Touch will have on that shiny back after just one day without a case...........but I am desperate. I must say I really do love my Touch. It is my 15th Media player and beyond all comparison the best Media Player I have ever owned and I am willing to do whatever is necessary to remedy this situation and be able to use my Touch as intended once again.
What gripes me the most is that I paid premium price for this iPod Touch and it has virtually no Tech support. It baffles me. I had ONE tech support phone call available within 90 days and I used it on the first Touch so now I can't phone tech support , you cannot e-mail tech support , my only option is to place a service request and send it to AppleCare and you can't give a decent description of the problem even then because you are limited to 200 characters and I am damned tired of sending it back and forth. Is it really so hard to offer decent Tech support for these $400 and $500 Media Players? Dozens of other manufactures manage to do it so why can't Apple? They've got an AMAZING product , why not give it AMAZING support? Thats all I'm saying.

  • Lost my notes on iPod Touch!!! Please help me!

hi all, i created a lot of notes on my iPod Touch during the night while i was on the train. i just got home and connected my iPod Touch to my Mac Mini and the notes i created during the night are now all missing. it looks like the most recent notes i created are now gone and only the notes i created a few days ago are there. i'm accessing the iPod Touch notes via 'mail' as this is the only way i know how. i just unplugged my iPod Touch and tried to access the notes i created during the night on it, but it looks like the notes are at the same point as the mac mini's. so my iPod Touch notes are identical to the mac mini's notes.
i believe when i plugged in the iPod Touch to my mac the mac synced up the notes i had earlier so it wiped the most recent iPod Touch notes out. i remember seeing a dialogue about syncing a few days ago and i believe this started the issue. it seems like the mac mini now supersedes the notes i made on my iPod Touch.
does anyone know i can get them back?
    thanks for any help!
    man, this ***** big time.
does anyone know how i can make the iPod Touch the 'leading device' so the mac mini won't wipe the notes out again?
i can't see how i can get the notes back.

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • My ipod touch is disabled. Please help me with my questions. It is my first apple device.

My ipod is disabled. When i turn it on it says to connect to itunes. I can get to where the screen displays a cord and an itunes logo, but itunes does not pop up, nor display my devices. This is probably because I have not synced my ipod with this computer, nor with any computer. How do I sync my ipod with itunes when it is disabled? How do I get itunes to pop up when my ipod is connected to the computer? Please dont give me a link, i really would like a step by step guide. I have itunes downloaded on this computer, but it does not pop up or display my devices. Do I need to create an itunes account? I have so many questions because this is my first apple device. If you were wondering, my ipod touch is disabled because I forgot my passcode. PLEASE help, I dont care if I have to reset my ipod, I just want to be able to use it!

    Use Device Firmware Mode...
    1.     Turn off your ipod To do this, hold the home and sleep buttons for 10 seconds, ignore slide to power off message.
    2.     Release the power button when you see the apple logo (keep holding the home button)
    3.     Keep holding until you see a message.
    Now restore from a backup!
    Alternatively you can wait!

  • Ipod Touch Wont Turn On - Please Help

My ipod touch 2nd gen wont turn on at all. I have tried holding down the power and home button but that doesnt work and when i connect it to the computer it is not detected by itunes.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Any help is appreciated

Try this before you take it to the Apple store or send it in for repairs:
    1. Start iTunes
    2. With your iPod disconnected, hold down the Home button
    3. Continue holding down the Home button while plugging it back into your computer
    4. Hold the button down until iTunes tells you it has detected an iPod in recovery mode. Follow the instructions from there.
If that doesn't do it, time to see about repairs.

  • New software update for iPod touch 4th generation? PLEASE HELP!!

Ok so here is the problem: I have the iPod touch 4th generation with software version 4.3 (I have had my iPod for about 7 months) and recently within the past week or so I have started experiencing multiple crashes with many different various apps and games. Just random games crashing and then I noticed it happening with the Facebook app and even Safari on my iPod! I had to get off of my iPod and come on the computer to type this message out because Safari would crash every single time I tried to type this on my iPod! So at first I figured it was the apps and games' problems, but then as more and more began to crash, like Facebook and Safari, I figured it is the Apple software version 4.3 acting up. So I was wondering, is Apple working on a new software update for iPod touch 4th gen.? Or is this a rare problem? Is there anyone out there having this same problem? Or anyone at all that can PLEASE help me?! MANY THANKS!
    - Sam Amos

No one would know what Apple is working on, unless they announce, which they very rarely do.
Have you tried the basics from the manual?
    restart.
    reset.
    restore.
