How to block Windows Live Messenger

Dear All,
Greetings. Can anyone advise how can I block Windows Live Messenger? I have tried to block with the signature MSMSGS (which is for Windows Messenger), and MSN messenger.

Kind of. You can block the Chat web category and that will block HTTP access to Chat related sites. This will 'help' prevent the downloading of such software, though if the installers are on a site like download.com, the clients will still be able to download it.
Once the software is already on the computer (installed previously, from an alternate download site, installed from a thumb drive, so forth), the chat software will most likely NOT use HTTP for communication with its servers. Which means the chat traffic will bypass the WSA and not be blockable.
The WSA will support these native chat protocols in the future.

There is not a specific Microsoft Messenger app in the App Store (there's an AOL IM client now, for example). There are 3rd party apps that work with MSN chat servers - here are two (both are direct links to the iTunes Store):

All my windows live messenger contact have disappeared of windows messenger and appeared in my phone contact list on my curve 9360, Why, and how can I get them back where they should be?

I went onto windows live messenger today and all my contacts have disappeared from it, but I also noticed that they had somehow now appeared in my curve 9360 phone contacts. How did this happen, and how can I get them back into windows live messenger and out of my phone contacts on my phone? This is driving me crazy, can anybody help please?
My phone is the curve 9360, OS is 7.0.0 bundle 2259 And it was purchased Easter Monday

Thanks, but I checked iCloud and it has none of them.
If it backed up to my laptop, that died and I just got the new computer. The one that's crashed won't even boot, so there's no way to even tell if it was syncing the contacts along with all the phone photos. Literally happened at the same time - it was because I had the new computer that I was finally able to pull the photos off the phone and make room for the upgrade. It had refused to upgrade for lack of space for some time.
I had thought it was set to sync to iCloud but it vanished from BOTH my phone and the cloud. That's why I'm so angry about it.

How to get isight camera to work in windows live messenger

I'm on macbook using VMWare Fusion software, I have split HD into windows XP and Mac side. I'm trying to connect on windows side with my brother who has PC using the windows live messenger. I can't find out how to get my mac isight camera to work in windows live chat. Anyone know settings on win xp side for making mac built in camera work?
I tried mac side, but mac messenger doesn't have video capabilities!

How do you to sync your or msn mail and run windows live messenger on 8900????

Hi peeps again, previously i was using E71 and synchronizing msn with E71 is just so easy plus window live messenger was already pre-installed on that device so i didnt have probs with it however when it comes to BB 8900, it so complicated to sync and install software. my 8900 is currently running on v4.6.1.250 (Platform 4.2.0.113)
1) What should i do when my 8900 shows "Service not enabled for this handheld." when trying to launch MSN after typing the password and E-mail address?
2) How to you sync your PERSONAL E-Mail with your blackberry? I've tried using the "E-mail setup" but it only give me one option which is "i want to use a work email account with a blackberry enterprise service"

Windows live messenger disconnection on nokia 6022...

Hi up until recently I could log into windows live messenger on my mobile, now when I log in I get a error 201 and a message say that "you were disconnected from windows live messenger - server initiated disconnect" then asks if I want to connect again. I have searched the net for a answer to how I can get back on messenger but no answer anywhere. Can anyone help me?

i believe we are talking about 6220 Classic right?
have you checked "Download"? have you tried to update "Download" as well, if it is not showing there?
the other things is if your 6220 is network locked, you might have some restrictions on the apps availability and usage, try to ask your service provider...
if certificate error is shown, try to check the "Application Manager" and see Settings and make sure "Software installation is set to ALL, and Online certificate is also "OFF"

Windows live messenger disappeared?

Yesterday I accidentally hid windows live messenger but then I found the way to get it back by pressing show all.
But today I went to go on the application and it wasn't anywhere, I tried to press the show all button again but it wasn't there when I clicked the menu key.
I then tried to re download it and it didn't change anything.
Does anyone no what could of happened or how to fix this? Thank you.

1. On your homescreen, press the Menu key > SHOW ALL, so that SHOW ALL is checked.
When and if you see it, click the Menu key again > unhide.

2. Look in EACH folder on your device... Applications, Instant Messengers, Downloads, etc.
If you still don't see it, look at Options > Advanced > Applications. Do you see it listed there?
You might have accidentally moved it to a folder.

Problem running Windows Live Messenger on Nokia N9...

Recently I upgraded my FW to 21.0.016 and since than I can't run Windows Live Messenger "for security reasons".
Does anyone has an idea how to solve this?

PETITION FOR WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER FOR NOKIA N97 ...

I and we have been waiting for the Windows Live Messenger to be released for Nokia 5800 and N97 for ages now. I cannot understand why has other Nokia models has it not those models apart from China which have it for Nokia 5800 and N97. What is going on Nokia? Not many of us like using 3rd party messengers If any of you agree with me please do post and hopefully they will wake up.

Itunes with windows live messenger

for some reason, after i downloaded the new update today, it doesnt seem to be showing what music im playing on windows live messenger, yet if i used windows media player it shows what im playing, i was wondering how i would be able to turn this setting back on so that it shows what im playing

hi there, i've had this same issue too for a while...so basically...the problem only happens if you run windows live messenger with compatability mode and while you tell windows live messenger to show what music you're listening to.
SO the solution to this problem is to:
1. turn off compatability mode
OR
2. turn off "show imformation about the song im listening to" to on windows live messenger
personally i'd rather just turn off "show imformation about the song im listening to" because windows live messanger tends to crash a lot when compatability mode is turned off.

Why doesn't the Windows Live Messenger sounds work when the app is closed?

I just got my iPod for Christmas and I downloaded Windows Live Messenger. I read the blurb about it and it said it will notify/alert me that I got an IM (Instant Message). I recieved one, not knowing until an hour later when I re-opened the app and THEN found out I got one. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

There are other Mac/iphone/facebook type questions on here that are answered and the answers work. So I assume eventually this one will too. People having issues with facebook compatibility and Safari for example.

MSN Messenger for Mac does not support video except via Office Communications Server 2007 (usually paid for by commercial enterprises rather than individual users). However, it is possible to video with your friends who use the PC version of the MSN Messenger family of apps. Here are a couple of ways you can try:
(1) As suggested by Defcom, take a look at aMSN and Mercury
Either can do webcam video with your built-in iSight.
They work a bit differently, so use whichever you find easiest or most reliable on your MBA.
(2) As an alternative, because your iNtel Mac can use Boot Camp, VMware Fusion™, or Parallels™ to run Windows® software, you can choose which method you want to use, add the required software to your iNtel Mac (if you have not already done so), and then install and use the same Windows® Messenger application that your contacts are using to video chat with them.
The Windows drivers for your built-in iSight and your other Mac hardware are on the disk with Boot Camp so, after you have installed Windows, you can install the iSight driver and use your built-in iSight if you like. If you need more help on this, search or post in Boot Camp discussions category
(3) If your friends are willing to try something "new and improved" (does NOT work with Messenger):
you can both install and try a different video chat app such as Google Talk or Skype.
