How to bring Cinema 4D Lite audio into After Effects?

Hi--
This is probably quite basic. I have a C4D Lite project with an audio file placed into a null in the timeline--and in the object manager I added an external compositing tag to the null object.
In After Effects I have extracted the scene data--and the audio track shows up in the timeline--however, it is not actually audio in After Effects--it looks like a graphic layer and no audio plays in After Effects.
How do I get the audio from C4D Lite to come across to After Effects and play there?
Thanks,
Tony

Simply import the audio directly into AE. You are making this way too complicated.

  • Bringing Photoshop created 3D text into After Effects to work in 3D space?

    Hi everyone,
I created 3D text (logo) in photo shop and want to bring it into after effects in order to use it in 3D space. Is it possible? I cant figure out how to bring it in there and still be able to use it in 3D space. it just comes out as a flat image no matter how i bring it in.. ??
    Thank you...

As Andrew said, if (CS6){no deal}. for previous versions it should work, but keep in mind that AE will only open files from a matching version of PS, i.e. CS4 files will not work properly in CS5 nor the other way around. This stuff has changed with every version....

  • Bringing Premiere ultra keyed footage into after effects with key intact

It there a way to bring in footage I keyed using Premiere ultra into After effects? I much prefer the ultra keyer over anything native to After Effects CS5.5. If not, how do I export and keep intact the aplha channels from the keyed footage into after effects? Thirdly, if I have to, how do I remiove the black background I get as a result of a default quick time movie file?

You can not export a clip with alpha from PPRO.
Easiest way is just doing the key in Keylight - AEFX ( which is far more powerful and flexible than Ultra Key . As good as it is, it has its limits)

  • Cinema 4D lite objects in After Effects - lights and shadows

Hello, how do you get an imported Cinema 4D object to react to a AE light to cast a shadow?
    1. I apply the Track Camera Effect to my footage
    2. I select track points, right click the Red Target, and 'Create Shadow Catcher, Camera and Light'
         a. Light Options - Cast Shadows On
         b. Shadow Catcher - Accepts Lights Only
         c. Renderer - Standard(Final)
    3. I import a C4D object and set CINEWARE to 'Comp Camera'.
The C4D object tracks correctly to the camera, but the object does not accept the AE light and does not cast a shadow from this
light onto the Shadow Catcher layer. Can't seem to find the answer in any online tutorials. Thanks for you help!
    Rob C.

You need to put your lights in the scene, export your Comp to a C4D project, and then set up your shadows in C4D

  • How can I add 3ds Model into After Effects with animation and camera rotation?

    Hi all!
I'm on my way to my final project of Multimedia Animation of my bachelor last year.
I have good knowledge of After Effects & 3ds Max.
I want to do a short movie with aliens being shot down.
So, my question is: How can I import my 3ds model with the animation(keyframes) into After Effects AND rotate the whole character and it's animation as I move the camera?
for example, having a alien being shot down at the same time I'm recording with the HD camera around, that means that I have to define planes and angles, the problem is that I'm not parenting the character correctly with the plane.

Element doesn't do pre-anaimted objects, so that would be the limiting factor. Of course it could still be handy for otehr scene elements. On that note, using AtomKraft and exporting the model as an Alembic file with animation might also be something to look into...

  • .AVI files into after effects do not work? how do I fix?

When I record with my vivitar dvr 840xhd camera, and try to import the files into after effects. The files import into after effects just fine, except the little icon of the video is all grey. But when I put it into the comp and try to view it. The whole video is only a black screen. I try to watch it and find out that the audio works in it. but not the video. Throwing it into media encoder and trying to convert it only does the same thing, just a black screen with audio. But when I play the file on windows media player it works just fine. I have After effects CS5 and I run windows 7. Anyone have any good anwsers? Perferably one that does not reqire another program video converter to put it into the file type I. I tryed that before with many other video converters. I either loose quaility. If im filming in 60fps, it is reduced to 30fps. I can only convert so much in one clip. And most leave watermarks. I would much rather be able to import these .avi files into after effects without the wait and annoyance of a 3rd party program. Thanks for the help.

Probably not. AVI is just a generic container format and without any more info we will not be able to give you any proper answers. Even their website doesn't give any specifics. Use GSpot or MediaInfo to find out what CoDecs it is using exactly. Since the camera is based on Flash memory, though, I already get this ugly feeling it is using some atrocious non-standard MPEG4 derivative nad that would mean there is no chance at all to use it directly in AE...

  • How can I get my sound from Flash CC into After Effects?

I have been using Flash to animate for years. I have upgraded from Flash 8 to Flash CC. I had been animating and then exporting the video part, (swf.), and sound (wav) separately, and then bringing them into After Effects already as synced files.
That option is no longer available in Flash CC. What can I do? (I am really considering Toon Boom after this project).

Haven't tried this, but you should be able to export a video file containing only the sound track from within Flash. Just turn off all the other layers. Also, although you are probably aware of this, Adobe claims that Flash CC now exports video without the bugs that plagued earlier versions. Then you should move to Toon Boom, it has its own headaches, but at least it's a real animation program.

  • Problems importing iPhone 4 video into After Effects CS5 - Audio sync out

    Hi there,
I am currently experiencing problems trying to import iPhone 4 video into After Effects CS5.
Firstly i'd like to note that the video plays perfectly fine on the iPhone, VLC and in Quicktime Player. The audio and video is in sync.
When I add the footage to After Effects the video becomes slightly out of sync with the audio. I have noticed this in RAM preview and also in renders I did just to test.
I also want to note that, both my iPhone and After Effects have latest software updates.
    Thanks for your help

    Thanks Rick and Mylenium
    Thanks that worked!
I thought that changing the frame rate in the composition settings would have worked.
Instead what I should have done is to go the the footage in the Project Panel then right-click on the footage > Interpret Footage > Main... then Conform to frame rate: Frame rate: 23.986607 (or whatever more accurate frame rate your footage actually is)
I used the more accurate frame rate reading from VLC which went to 5 decimal places. I got that info from the top menu in Tools > Codec Information
Its a shame AE doesn't  pick up on the more accurate fps. It seems that all the videos from my iPhone 4 have slightly different frame rates and I guess I will have to interpret each clip properly.
I hear that the frame rate on the iPhone 4 is different depending on the lighting? I wonder why that would be the case?
Hope this helps anybody else that might face this problem.
    Cheers

  • How do I import a Premiere Pro file into After Effects

So I'm an editor, I cut trailers and TV spots. I enjoy making my title cards on After Effects because it gives me a lot of options but I'm having difficulty. How do I import / edit a Premiere Pro file into After Effects? I imported the project file but the whole thing was a mess and nothing made sense. Can anyone explain this process to me?
By the way I used CS5.5 versions of the software.

It actually works better if you go the other way... link an AE comp into your Premiere project.
Create and link to After Effects compositions with Dynamic Link

  • How do I import Flash with 3-D into After Effects?

Every time I import a SWF file that has 3-D in it, into after effects the file doesn't work.
How do I make this happen?

Hi Mylenium, Thank you. I had actually tried exporting it as a png sequence before writing this, however, I screwed up and forgot After Effects Preview mode was set to 50% so I thought that the png sequence was horribly pixilated... My bad... You suggested that I go back and try it again and it worked excellently. Thanks.

  • AVCHD (MTS/M2TS) No Audio in After Effects CS6

    Hi,
I am trying to edit a lot of footage, which are .MTS files. When I import them into After Effects CS6, there is no Audio, even in Premiere. I cannot convert the footage, as it will take too long because there is over 250 clips.
    Thanks!
    Specs:
    iMac Mid 2011
    Intel core i5 2.5GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB
    12gb Ram
    OSX 10.7.5
    Adobe After Effects CS6

    Hi RaffM8,
Ran into this problem with a friends video footage.
As you are on a mac you need to decompress these files first and then bring them into AE / Premiere.
Excellent article here on what to do and how to do it.
    http://blogs.lsa.umich.edu/issmediacenter/2012/10/15/converting-mts-files-for-macs/
You may need to purchase a program like Clipwrap or you can use Handbrake for free.
The article above explains how to do this for Handbrake.
I know you say you can't convert as it will take too long, but I tried all sorts of work arounds and I couldn't get the audio to work until I converted the files.
Sorry I know this is a pain and not what you wanted to hear, but I tore my hair out trying to get the audio to work and converting the files was the only thing that worked for me. I genuinely hope that someone else has a better solution than mine and that it's an easy fix.
    Hope this helps.

  • Imported song into After Effects CS6 and won't fully render.

I imported a song into After Effects CS6 to use audio waveforms. I click RAM preview but it won't render or play past 18 seconds. What am I doing wrong and how do I render the entire audio track so it will actually play all the way through with the effects on it.

Ram preview length is determined by the amount of available ram. It is also usually limited to the work area. Either lower the resolution of the comp window or extend the work area.
Please read the FAQ section at the top of the forum. You'll have your answer there.

  • Importing Illustrator layers into After effects, released to layers yet still one layer- ?

    Hi,
Please bear with me as this should be a simple fix but the situation is hard to describe.
I want to import layers from Illustrator into After Effects. I need the AI layers to have their "handles" (the four corners of the object) close in around the object and not spread out to the corners of the composition. I figured out how to do this: by "releasing layers to sequence" in Illustrator and then dragging them out of the group they were all in. Then I "import as composition - retain layer sizes" into AE. When I open the illustrator composition in AE, it's layers appear in AE as separate layers and with the layer 'handles' tight around the objects (all is well). BUT here is what I want to do: I have a layer/object in Illustrator that I "image traced" to make it black but it still has some white parts to it. So I drew two black rectangles around the white parts. But now when I bring it into AE, they all appear as separate layers (the image traced object and the two rectangles) but I want those black rectangles to be literally part of the object that I image traced. In photoshop this would be akin to "flattening the layers". I can do this in AI by "merging" the layers, but if I do that I am brought back to the problem of having AE put the layer's 'handles' to the corners of the comp window and not tight around the object. Frustrating!
So I basically want to be able to paint over/cover up the white parts of my object without that creating new layers/objects.
    Thanks for reading!
    T

I'm not clear what you are describing. Have you actually tried other import settings in AE? There is some bug with the retain layer size stuff, but other combinations might work. Also try exporting a PDF of the artwork and using that. This may work better.

  • Importing Flame tracking data (FBX) into After Effects CC

I want to import tracking data exported from Flame Premium 2015 (Autodesk) into After Effects CC. Prevably in the FBX format. Can I do this, and if so how?

You could try importing it into C4D first. C4D comes for free with After Effects now: details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects

  • .OBJ files into After Effects

I loaded this .obj file into After Effects and animated some particles around it. I rendered a short sample to see how it would look and it came out like the 2nd picture. Zoomed in.
What did I do wrong? I can't understand why it came out so zoomed in. I didn't even finish with the letters and animations now, concerned that it won't look right after rendering.
Any tips would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
PS: This is how the logo REALLY looks, but so far I've been unable to use this beautiful 3D model in any other program.

Element 3D is the best way to bring 3D .obj files into After Effects.
