How to bring search field back in Mountain Lion?

To the third-party developers reading here: Is it possible to bring back the separate search field in the upcoming Safari in Mountain Lion? The websearch from the addressbar is THE killer feature: to kill Safari from my favourite software list. I do a lot of research and it is somewhat awkward to re-type the search queries in the addressbar instead of just click on the snapback button. If there is a terminal hack or plugin to bring back the separate search field, please, please let me know!

Thanks, David. I know this workaround. And one more with creating right-click Service. That's why I've used "uncomfortable" instead of "impossible". In my opinion, Apple should leave ability to choose OS's behavior, and I hoped somebody knew where to find it .

  • I don't have my search field anymore, only the url field. I know I can seach in it, but I want my separate search field back. How do I do that?

    Not sure when it happened and I am sure it is just a setting or something, but I can't find where I get the search field back. I see it when I open the customize the tool bar, but it disappears when I close it. I want to search from Google and the URL search bar does not give me that option, only Google Maps & places.
    How do I get back that separate search field?
    Thanks.

    Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • BI 7.0: How to bring DataSource fields to InfoSource in design

    We've replicated the generic datasource from R3 to BW and we have created an InfoSource with blank fields.   We remember on BW 3.x version that we could bring Datasource fields to InfoSource by clicking somewhere, but on BI 7.0, we are trying to do the same thing, but can't find some function to do this.  Then we try to right click the InfoSource and then select 'Create Transformation', and then to select the source system and the datasource, but of course we would get the error msg like "There are no fields in target TRCS InfoSource_Technical_Name".  Any idea on how to bring Datasource fields into the blank InfoSource on BI 7.0?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Instead of bringing the DS fields into a blank infosource, ideally, what you can do
    is, you can create a new infosource based on your generic data source, which would make your process easy..
    cheers,

  • How to go back to Mountain lion os x 10.8 again from mavericks.?

    How to go back to Mountain lion os x 10.8 again from mavericks.?

    You can reinstall your system from a backup (Time Machine or "clone") or erase it completely and reinstall Mountain Lion.
    OS X Mountain Lion: Erase and reinstall OS X
    If your Mac shipped with Mountain Lion already installed, you can reinstall it. Otherwise, you can only reinstall Mountain Lion if you purchased it from the App Store.
    You may be better off describing the problems you're experiencing, so that they can be fixed. The vast majority of Mavericks complaints are due to outdated or poorly written software or similarly incompatible system modifications, and some simple troubleshooting may reveal the cause.

  • How to uninstall maverick back to mountain lion?

    I have instaled maverick but have found that it does not support some programs so wish to revert back to mountin lion.  Is this possible and if it is can you give me a very basic explenation of how to do so.
    Many thanks

    Another option too for those (kind of like me) who never did the time machine.
    I just restored my computer back to Mountain Lion, and she's working perfect again, as I knew she would. E-mail popping into mailbox instantly as it should and did before the update, printer working fast as it was before update, no more freezing or glitches of any kind thankfully and finally. Here is the link that is through the Apple site to direct you on how to put your system back and get rid of Maverick's, that is assuming that is what you would like to do and also includes link for those wanting to try fixing the issue if that is your preference (most of this info is for those with mountain lion and some with the previousverisoin of OS X lion).
    If you want to keep Maverick's here is a good post on the apple discussion board to help you out:

    If you just want to totally get rid of it and put back what you had before, this is the short version of how to do so:

    NOTE: This particular link has a lot of info on what to do for different situations, it is a bit lengthy, yet still very helpful.

    OS X: About OS X Recovery (also from apple support directly and includes some instructions just the same as previous links above):

    Just in case you aren't sure what it will all look like as you are doing things, this is a link to show you a few pics of what you will see  as you as you are going through the process, it can be helpful for those who aren't sure what they are doing or how to do things at all:

    This is a way to download the Mountain Lion disk info from the server

    I hope this helps someone, it was amazing for me and my system is working perfect again like it was, battery life is way better went from like 3 hours to like 5 (not on full charge by the way, after it sat for a while doing the online update which took a while so that's saying something alone, huge improvement). I plan to wait a while before attempting to reinstall Maverick's, long enough for them to fix the bugs.

  • How fast text search field in Oracle without using Intermedia?

    How fast text search field in Oracle without using Intermedia? Thank you, Paul.

    yes,it is overriden in VOImpl
    public void executeQuery()
            setQuery((new StringBuilder()).append(selectStmt).append(" order by ").append(getOrderByClause()).toString());
            OAApplicationModuleImpl oaapplicationmoduleimpl = (OAApplicationModuleImpl)getApplicationModule();
            OAApplicationModuleImpl _tmp = oaapplicationmoduleimpl;
            if(oaapplicationmoduleimpl.isLoggingEnabled(1))
                OAApplicationModuleImpl _tmp1 = oaapplicationmoduleimpl;
                oaapplicationmoduleimpl.writeDiagnostics((new StringBuilder()).append(getClass().getName()).append(".executeQuery").toString(), (new StringBuilder()).append(" Query:").append(getQuery()).toString(), 1);
            super.executeQuery();
    But I have extended VO and substituted the VO . In the substituted VOImpl, instead of executeQuery(),I have written
    public void customExecuteQuery()
              setQuery((new StringBuilder()).append(selectStmt).append(" order by ").append(getOrderByClause()).toString());
              executeQuery();
    Will this work,or do I need to do any changes?

    My contacts disappeared for no apparent reason. However, all of my contacts (updated even to the last bit) in my Macbook Air are still there. How do bring my contacts back to my phone?

    Hi perriejunn!
    They might actually be the same Apple ID. When you have an email and use it to log into iCloud it will create an iCloud alias for you. I have an @live.no appleID, which also has an @iCloud.com alias that are otherwise identical.
    If you log into applied.apple.com with the @gmail.com account you should see the @iCloud.com as an "alternate" email address.
    You might also have created a new iCloud account/Apple ID when you used iCloud the first time. Then this @iCloud.com will not be connected to you @gmail.com address or any other mail addresses. You can then log out of that Apple ID at Settings>iCloud and log in with this @gmail.com Apple ID and sync contacts.

  • How can I revert my Macbook Air back to Mountain Lion?

    I got my Macbook Air for Christmas in 2012, so it's only a little over a year old. It came with Mountain Lion, and it's been fine, until I updated it to Mavericks. Well, it was alright for a little bit, until the past two days, it has frozen on me for absolutely no reason at all twice. I wasn't running a lot of programs or anything, my hard drive space was fine, my battery was fine, and I've taken good care of it (never spilt anything on it, dropped or banged it). When it froze, the keyboard and cursor didn't respond, it wouldn't go into sleep mode and the sound skipped. All I could do was hold the power button until it shut off. So I was doing research on it and I think the reason is Mavericks. So I backed up my important things onto a separate drive, and I did the restart with command+r and I erased the hard drive completely. But now the only option for installing is reinstalling Mavericks, which I don't want to do because I'll be brought back to square one. My brother has a disc for Snow Leopard, but apparently you shouldn't downgrade a computer to a system software older than the one it came with...does this mean I have to buy Mountain Lion now or something? I don't have any backups in Time Machine (which is stupid of me). My mom has a Macbook Pro with Lion, but I don't know if I can do anything with that (unless it came with a CD, which I don't think it did, and besides it's still an older version). Am I just stuck with Mavericks then? I wish I never upgraded...unless the freezing is related to something else?

    Okay. What I could possibly try doing is reinstalling Mavericks, and now that my computer's hard drive is empty, try using it and seeing if it starts freezing again. For all I know, the cause may not be Mavericks, and maybe erasing the hard drive might have fixed it...but if that doesn't work, then I'll probably have to contact Apple or something about it, and see if going back to Mountain Lion fixes it, or if there's something else wrong with my computer.

  • Went from Mountain Lion to Yosemite on 2009 MacBook Pro.  Safari now randomly shuts down; Word doesn't work properly; iPhoto will not upload pics from iPhone; EVERYTHING is horribly slow.  How to I go back to Mountain Lion?

    Is there a way to go back to Mountain Lion after updating to Yosemite?  Yosemite has caused nothing but problems in multiple programs.  Mountain Lion ran fine.  Not sure why I even updated.  I am NOT a computer guru so instructions I have read for the many Yosemite fixes blow my mind.  Should I be taking my MacBook Pro to the Genius Bar at the nearest Apple Store (2 hours away)?  I have been a Mac user and lover for many years and am SO frustrated and disappointed in all of it right now.  Please advise on what a non-tech frustrated Mac user can do.

    Technically, you can downgrade if you have the following:
    Your computer must be elligible to run Mountain Lion. If your computer came with Mavericks or Yosemite out of the box, you can forget it.
    You need an already existing Mountain Lion installer file. If you still have that somewhere, for example in your Applications folder, or anywhere else, it's usable- note that it needs to be originally downloaded with your own Apple ID and password. If you made a Mountain Lion USB installer or DVD back then that would work too. If your Time Machine back-ups go back to the days of Mountain Lion or Lion you could check your Applications folder from inside Time Machine and restore it to your computer.
    To not have data loss you need a Time Machine back-up that goes back to when you were still running Mountain Lion. Please note that this will revert your data to exactly the date that you choose. If you installed Mavericks 2 months ago, you will loose 2 months worth of data.

  • Mavericks is slow and nothing works properly now.  How do I go back to Mountain Lion?

    I have an older iMac (purchased in the Spring of 2008).  I've updated the operating systems as new ones have come available and even installed more memory into the machine so the upgrades would continue to work.  With the latest upgrade to Mavericks I'm ready to go backwards.  Mavericks stinks.  Everything runs slowly, I get the "beach ball" all the time, and I'm constantly getting error messages.  I'm thinking maybe I just don't have enough memory to make this work properly.
    So I want to go back to Mountain Lion (which I paid for) but can't find it in my "purchased items" in the App Store and can't seem to figure it out anywhere else.  I have a backup hard drive but I haven't backed up in a LONG time so I don't want to go that route.  I'd rather just do it online.  Can anyone help?  (I'm not very tech savvy, so please keep it simple...)

    You can check to see if the Mountain Lion purchase was hidden.

    If that doesn't work, try contacting App Store support.

  • I installed Maverick It turns off for no reasons, makes Safari a miserable experience, and more.  How can I get back to Mountain Lion?

    Maverick is a mess, well up to MS at its best.  i installed it over Mountain Lion on a base Air that initially came with Lion.  The worst is when the screen suddenly goes blank.  After a few times, i found tha tsimpy pressing the power button brought up the welcome screen which - after the password - took me back to where I was with no loss, bu tthe first time was horrible.  Then WORD for MAC started behaving strangely, with normal operations simply not working - shading to copy or cut out, for instance.  Click again and again, no shading - then suddenly it workds!  Safari has similar issues.  So too with other software downladed earlier.  simply nothing works as well as all did under Mountain Lion.
    So, I want to deep six Maverick and get back to Mountain Lion.  I assume that if I use CONTROL R I will simply reload Maverick.  Can I download Mountain Lion from the App Store and then ???  All the copying and such - a half day lost.  Is there are easier way?
    <Edited by Host>

    It's Command-R, not Control-R. You won't lose your files or settings if you reinstall 10.9 this way. Why don't you give that a go before reverting to 10.8.
