How to burn a MP3 CD in a single directory !?!

My question is simple. When I burn a MP3 CD with iTunes (lastest 7.0.1 or other version), it do one directory for each artist and a sub-directory for each album. It's a real problem because when I put this CD into my CD/MP3 player (including the one in my car), it take a WHILE to load the CD because it have to read each directory one-by-one before beginning to play, it's like a kind of files indexing. It's a real pain in the a**. The CD/MP3 deck in my girlfriend's car do the same. Even sometime when I put a several number of different artist on a CD, my CD/MP3 deck refuse to read the CD because it reach the maximum of directories allowed by the deck.
I try to do a DATA CD (Backup) in iTunes, but that the same problem. I just want my MP3 into a single directory in the order I put it into my iTunes playlist... is that impossible to obtain this so simple thing?
Thank you!!
Windows XP Pro iTunes 7.0.1

Did I have to conclude it's impossible to do that so simple thing?? ****!

  • Simple question - how to burn a mp3 cd as being a cd audio disk

I use to use Toast in os 9.x to do this.
What I want to do: Take an mp3 [or several mp3 files] and burn an audio cd disk that will play in my truck's cd player [that can't play mp3's obviously].
Question: Can this be done in Tiger without third party software?

Your link didn't work, but I did find the latest version of Patchburn at versiontracker.com for Mac os X and installed it.
    Patchburn didn't appear to work.
Here is the email I sent to Lacie [just moments ago]:
I purchased my Lacie DVD-R/+R drive from Lacie a few years ago. The
serial number of my drive is [censored by me here on the forum]. It is a +/-dvd/cd drive [that can burn disks].
First, I use Mac OS X 10.4.3. I have been able to burn dvd's, burn cd's, and so forth.
My problem: I recently attempted, for the first time, to burn an audio CD using iTunes. I was unable to get iTunes to recognize the drive. I posted on the Apple forum for help. I was told to download Patchburn, so I downloaded the most recent version of Patchburn. After installing Patchburn, a screen came up that recognized that this was a Pioneer drive and told me that now I should be able to burn audio CD's with iTunes. However, iTunes still won't recognize my drive. When I look in the upper right of iTunes I only see "Browse" and not "Burn" after I've selected [by highlighting] the songs I want to burn.
How can I burn audio CD's with this drive? Must I purchase a third party program? Is there a free solution?
    Sincerely,
    [my name]

  • How to burn as MP3 disc?

I have bought some songs from the AppStore.  I want to trnasfer them to an MP3 disc so I can play them in the MP3 player in my car.  I have been unable to do so.  When I follow the instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550?viewlocale=en_US it still won't burn them.  How can I get them onto a disc I can play in my car?

When I checked the files that cannot be burnt, I found that they were all those I had bought from the iTunes Store.
Are these listed in the 'Kind' column as 'Protected AAC audio file'? - this would apply to songs bought from the Store before it changed to selling unprotected versions. You cannot convert protected files to another format.
    There are two options:
    a) You can burn them to an audio CD and rip that back into iTunes.
    b) You can convert the songs to unprotected ('iTunes plus') for a fee: go to the Store and click on 'iTunes +' in the right sidebar.

  • How to burn audio only from a Video Single

I have a video single as part of personal mix in itunes. When I try to burn the mix, all of the tracks burn except the video single. The dialog box says that burning is disabled for this track. I assume this is because the video content is imbedded in the file.
This is somewhat confusing as the track was noted as a single and separate video at the time of purchase. Is there any way to convert the content so that it can be included on an audio CD?
    G4 Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Due to DRM, you cannot burn purchased videos, except for backup on Data CD/DVD.
The only way to separate the audio is to use a capture application like Wiretap Pro or Audio Hijack (Pro). Latest versions can be found on versiontracker.com.
    Hope this helps.

  • Burning an mp3 cd for my car...and having the info read?

    Hi there,
i know how to burn an mp3 cd, but i've never made one for the car, which as the mp3 readable player.
is there anything special i need to do to the id3 tags to ensure that the artist and/or song comes across the display on the deck?
I have artist, song and album filled out per song so will that do it?
    cheers,
    keebler

I'll also add that the head unit, if separate from the CD player might not be compatible. As an example, my wife has an older Alpine head unit with CD player built in, but also had the ability to control a CD changer. A couple years after I put that in, I then got her an Alpine CD changer but got one that plays MP3s. The CD changer itself supports tags, but the head unit does not, so while the MP3 files play fine, there is no info transferred. If I upgrade her head unit to a newer model, then the MP3 tags should display.

  • Burning in MP3

I am trying to burn an MP3 disc to play in an MP3 portable disc player. I follow the directions in the help section and I get this message when I click on (Burn MP3 Disc):
NONE OF THE FILES CAN BE BURNED TO AN MP3 CD.
ONLY FILES THAT ARE ALREADY IN MP3 FORMAT MAY BE BURNED TO AN MP3 CD.
I am not a computer expert by any means. So I would greatly appreciate some expert advice on how to burn an MP3 CD. My computer is only a year old so it does have a cd burner, that much I know. I guess what I don't understand is the file stuff. Isn't music in iTune already in MP3 format? And if not how do I get it to MP3 format so I can burn a MP3 CD.
Thank you so much in advance for your help.
    Judy

    Hi, Judy.
The majority of songs sold by the iTS are copy-protected .m4p files and, as this article in the Apple Knowledge Base explains, cannot directly be converted to mp3's.
Something you may find of interest is that, as the article states, you can create an Audio CD of your store purchases.

  • How can I burn a MP3 CD in itunes

I bought an Asus DVD/CD burner to plug into my MBA in hopes that I could burn an MP3 CD for my car stereo. When I try to burn the CD iTunes tells me it can't find the burner. How do I mount, or setup, the burner so iTunes will see it. I can play a DVD on it, so I know it works. Running 10.8.2.
    Thanks!

I have the latest version of iTunes (11.3) and I have the option to burn a Data CD.

First, update your Mac OS 10.6.8 (Apple menu Software update).
If that doesn't do it, try a different brand CD-R.

  • How to burn MP3 songs from iTunes 11?

I wanted to find out how to burn my iTunes 11 music to a CD in the MP3 format.

I'm assuming that you are familiar with the old iTunes platform but in case you are not  (or someone else is not) I'm giving detailed instructions.
You need to create a playlist first. Go to the tiny square in the top left hand corner and select the drop down menu.
    Select "New" > "New Playlist"
    Give your playlist a name
Then select the music you want to burn by searching for the album, artist genre etc. There is a search bar (w/magnifying glass icon) in the top right corner.
Once the song appears right-click and select "Add to Playlist" > (playlist name)
If you want to add multiple songs, or a whole album select the first song, press and hold the shift key while pressing the arrow down key to highlight all of the songs
Note: If you aren't in full screen view arrow down may not select all songs in which case you will then arrow right. So press and hold "Shift" arrow down, then arrow right.
Right click the highlighted songs and select "Add to Playlist" > (playlist name)
At the top of your iTunes screen (beneath the rectangle) there is a menu going horizontally. It should say : Songs, Albums, Artists, Genres, Playlist, Radio, Match.
    Select "Playlist".
There will be a list of your playlist on the left hand side. Select the playlist that you sent your songs(and/or album) to.
Insert a blank disk into your drive.
Select the tiny square drop down menu at the top left hand corner. Select "Show Menu Bar".  You should now see a horizontal menu  (top left) of your screen saying:
File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help
Select "File" > "Burn Playlist to Disc"
A pop up window will appear giving you the option to change the burn settings. It is best to leave said settings alone unless you MUST change them for whatever reason.
    Select "Burn"
The notification bar (long rectangle top center of iTunes window) will tell you that your CD had finished burning, Just eject and you're done!
    Hope this helps

  • Help! i upgraded my itunes to 7.0.2 and I can't burn my mp3's?????

I am having the same problem like many other posts as to burning mp3's on the latest version of itunes.
my itunes was working fine till i downloaded the latest version and i tried to burn some songs that i even downloaded from itunes. i am having 2 major problems:
    (1) when i try to burn a playlist that i purchased from itunes it starts off like it's going to intitalize the burn then a warning pops up stating that 'none of the files can be burned to mp3 cd' then i click on the arrow to see the reason why i can't burn and it states 'itunes store files cannot be burned to an mp3 cd'. this has never happened before i have downloaded music from itunes before and never had this problem.
(2)the second problem i am having is the songs that my itunes will allow me to burn ( mostly transfered from my personal cd's and other downloads) burn in the usual manner but the don't play on my cd player....at all. i am using the correct cd's and my stereo is playing other burned cd's fine. the stereo is not old and i don't have any problem burning other files to cd. i tried everything...i even bought new blank cd's and i'm still having the problem. what is it? and how can i fix it.
please help if anyone has any advice!!!!
    -frustrated

No version of iTunes has ever allowed you to burn songs from the iTunes Store to MP3 CD.
I think you need to change your burning setting in Preferences > Advanced > Burning to Audio CD.

  • Burning an MP3 CD and seperating albums into Folders

Hi. I am having a problem making an mp3 audio CD of several albums and seperating them into folders. I click on the album tab at the top and it organizes the disc by album, in album order.
Problem is, that it still plays the songs in the same order as I burned them, and my mp3 player is unable to recognize any folders.....only the song order, which there are many songs....ugh
I followed the directions on the itunes help page, but still doesnt work.....Any help and tips would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Thank you for your answer. However, both links you mentioned result in
"We're sorry. We can't find the page you're looking for. Please return to the Apple Support homepage.".
Could you please direct me in more detail to the helpful article?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hans,
If you sort the playlist by Album before burning, iTunes will create album folders on the MP3 CD.
Here is the gist of the article:
    How to burn by album
You can create an MP3 CD that organizes songs into folders that represent an entire album. This allows you to duplicate the play order of an album on an audio CD, for example. Follow these steps:
    Create your playlist.
Click "Album" to sort the playlist by album.
The songs' play order should appear as it does on the original album. If not:
    Select a song.
Choose Get Info from the File menu.
    Click the Tags tab.
Modify the Track Number fields to arrange the play order.
    Repeat as needed.
    Click Burn CD.
Insert a blank CD and burn the disc.

  • Burning a MP3 CD

    Hi all
When I'm burning a MP3 CD in iTunes can I get rid of the directory structure that appears on the CD (Artist & Album names)? My car will only play a MP3 CD where all the music files are in the 'root' directory on the CD.
I can do it using Windows Explorer but it takes ages searching through the iTunes music directory for the songs I want.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Denny C

there's a few different directory structures you can get with an mp3 CD in itunes. fingers crossed, one of the other ones will work better for you. see this document:

  • How to burn audio CD

    Hi
The songs in iTunes are MP3 or Mp4. I would like to convert them to Audio file to burn CD. What is the best way to do this?

Your best way to burn an audio CD is to import the songs into iTunes. Here's a link that explains how to burn the music CD with iTunes.

  • How can I make mp3 versions of songs I have purchased? Under the 'Advance' in the menu for iTunes, that choice is dimmed.

How can I make mp3 versions of songs I have purchased? Under the 'Advance' in the menu for iTunes, Creating mp3 version is dimmed.

Have you quit and re-launched iTunes? Does the menu item become active then? Or are you trying to convert a protected file, which isn't possible. You can tell if the file is protected by doing a Get Info. If Kind says "protected AAC audio file" the file can not be converted in-place. It must first be burned to Audio CD which you can then import into iTunes as an MP3.
