  • How to burn blu ray disc with H264 files and ac3 files?

    Hello,
I have tried many times to burn a bluray disc with FCP and compressor and they always end up not successful. After spending days on testing different settings, I finally managed to only get it to work if I tried
    1) outputting to Hard drive as opposed to burn to bluray
    2) Turning the default bit rate down from 35Mbits to between 15-19Mbits.
Then I used either disk utility or toast to burn the disc image onto the Bluray disc.
I have however on a recent job forgotten to switch the setting on compressor to output to harddisk and instead set it to burn to Blu-ray. Big mistake. Again I end up with a h264 file and an ac3 file, and nothing I can do with them after 24 hours of rendering. Oddly, the compressor says "successful" but nothing is created but that 2 files.
My question is (before I restart the whole 24hr rendering process again) - is there anyone who can help me use the .264 file and the ac3 file and create the blu-ray disc with the menus again without having to re-render all over again? I have not been able to find anyone to provide me with a solution or find any where online that helps with that.
    Desperately ...
    Yee-wei

    Hello,
Sorry but the instructions in the manual (online and offline) do not answer my question. Yes I do have a bluray burner, it is a matsushita BD-MLT SW-5584. I wrote in my post that when I set it to output to HardDrive, it will create a dmg file nicely for me to burn using disk utility or toast.
But when set it to burn to Bluray disc, nothing gets done. I just want to find out, with the h264 file and the ac3 file that gets created in the process of creating the dmg file, can I still burn the disc or create a dmg file from them without having to re-render the whole thing again.
Maybe you never tried burning a Blu-ray disc with FCP or compressor before. Let me explain how it works. When you submit the project to process, it will create 2 files - 1 ac3 audio file and a .264 file. After that 2 files are rendered (which takes 24hrs for my 2hr 30min HD clip), it will use that 2 files to create your Bluray disc or your dmg file. Problem occurs when it doesn't burn the disc and you are left with just the 2 files that cannot be used to burn the project again. My question is : is there anyone who knows how to set the compressor to see that the 2 files are already created and just continue to create a dmg file?
Hope my question is clearer now.

  • How to burn as MP3 disc?

I have bought some songs from the AppStore.  I want to trnasfer them to an MP3 disc so I can play them in the MP3 player in my car.  I have been unable to do so.  When I follow the instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550?viewlocale=en_US it still won't burn them.  How can I get them onto a disc I can play in my car?

    dltom wrote:
When I checked the files that cannot be burnt, I found that they were all those I had bought from the iTunes Store.
Are these listed in the 'Kind' column as 'Protected AAC audio file'? - this would apply to songs bought from the Store before it changed to selling unprotected versions. You cannot convert protected files to another format.
    There are two options:
    a) You can burn them to an audio CD and rip that back into iTunes.
    b) You can convert the songs to unprotected ('iTunes plus') for a fee: go to the Store and click on 'iTunes +' in the right sidebar.

  • How to burn movies onto disc

I bought a movie off of itunes and wanted to burn it onto a disc. I have done this before with music to make cds but for some reason it isn't working. Could anyone help me out?

You cannot burn a movie purchased from the iTunes Store to a DVD to play on a DVD player, if that's what you mean.
If you mean you want to back up your movie, the backup to disk option was removed as of iTunes 10.4. If you want to back up your movies to a DVD, you'll need to use other Windows backup software and back up the movie files directly from the iTunes folder. Or you can just copy the entire iTunes folder to an external hard drive or other external medium with sufficient capacity.

  • How to burn 10.5gb disc without blu-ray?

Im trying to burn a DVD, but when I click burn in Finder it says disc to small, please remove some files and try again. Do they make 10.5gb DVD's? Or is there another way I can go about this using 8.5gb(240min) discs? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Kynan.

DVDs hold at most 9.7 GBs of data (less, in practice.) You can't burn 10.5 GBs of data to one. Break up the data into two groups and split between two DVDs.

    Is this the problem?
I have exported the slideshow as a movie quick time file.
    What do I do next???

If your Mac is a new one, like mine, then it comes with a version of iLife that doesn't have iDVD and if so, there isn't an easy way to burn a DVD from iPhoto or iMovie that will play on a normal DVD player.  There is quite a bit of correspondence about this, but I couldn't find a good answer, apart from this:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18460085#18460085
I ended up buying (via Amazon) a boxed version of iLife11, which has all the same software I already have, but with a copy of iDVD with it.
Seems to work well with iMovie, but at the moment, my copy of iPhoto has crashed - see:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18943719#18943719
Having only just transferred from a Windows machine to a Mac, it seems incredibly arrogant for Apple to think people don't use DVD players anymore.

Please advise me how to burn these edited photos to a disc to take to the nearest printing store in a format that "windows" system can understand.
Thanks in advance.  I look forward to learning about this.

Select the pics in the viPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export them to a folder on the desktop. Burn that to disk with the Finder's burn command. Result. A disk with a folder of images that any machine can understand.

  • How do you burn a data disc  in ML

    Hi
I would like to burn  a few install programs to a data disc  so that should I ever need to I can reinstall them  but I  am a a loss as how to do this in mountain lion on 2012 imac  I do have a superdrive  but since i haven't done this before  not sure how to go about it.  I have  several installer  downloads  I purchased , I just don't want to repurchase them later if I can help it . thanks for all help:)
also on another note but maybe related  can I use  my old idvd program from ( not for this but future home movies )  my 2008 imac  box set???

In addition to Clinton's method (which is handy if you already have the data files in one place or are willing to move or copy them into one place), you can also make use of "burn folders" -- special folders of aliases that "Burn (name) to disc" will follow while burning. When you drag any file or folder into a burn folder, an alias is created (much faster than copying the data, and less disruptive then moving it).
Search for "burn folder" in Finder Help for more information.

You must of missed me asking precisely that.
emwoody, I don't even see a DVD player on your TV. But you do have an USB and SD card reader.
Simply just add some pictures to an USB thumb drive or SD card. Then stick them into the TV. The Media Player should start to load automatically, I believe my TV does. But if not, hit the Viera Tools and select Media Player. From there you should be able to scan through your pictures.
Check out page 36 for the Media Player information.

    Hi ycngjack1:
You're fine putting just video content on your DVD. There's no rule that says you have to have a menu.
You'll want to set the "First Play" option in DVDSP to your Track that contains your video. By default, a DVDSP project starts with one Menu and one Track with "First Play" set to the menu.
720x576 is the correct frame size for a PAL MPEG2 stream, whether it's full frame material (4x3) or widescreen material (16x9). You need to be sure to set the "Display Mode" setting for the Track correctly in DVDSP in the Inspector palette. Also, this setting must correspond with your Video Stream for correct results. In other words, you place full frame clips into a full frame Track and widescreen clips into a widescreen Track. If you need to mix the two, you have to address this prior to encoding or importing the clips back in your editing applications (Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express, After Effects, etc.) and conform your footage to either full frame or widescreen.
Getting back to your question, "can i burn in 16:9 letterbox so that widescreen on normal tv but fullscreen on lcdtv?" It sounds like you are talking about creating a "hard matte", meaning that your 16x9 image is scaled proportionally to fit within a 4x3 image, leaving black bars at the top and bottom (the letterbox). This will result in a letterbox picture on a 4x3 TV and a pillarbox picture (black on the sides) on a 16x9 LCD TV that's also letterbox inside of that.
Without actually seeing your source footage, it's hard to tell you exactly what to do.
For the results that I think you are looking for, you'll want your 16x9 picture to be squeezed into 720x576 (everything should look thin and distorted without black bars at the top and bottom),
    This might also help:
    a. Place your clips into a Track and set the Display Mode to 4:3 (the first setting of four, the others being 16:9 Pan-Scan, 16:9 Letterbox, and 16:9 Pan-Scan & Letterbox).
    b. Set the Track to be the "First Play".
    c. Click the "Simulate" button.
    d. While the Simulator is running, change the Display Mode between the three options: 4:3 Pan-Scan, 4:3 letterbox, and 16x9.
    e. Quit the Simulator and change the Track Display Mode to the next setting, 16:9 Pan-Scan.
    f. Run the Simulator again and change the Display Mode between the three options.
    g. Repeat this until you've done all four of the Track Display Mode Settings.
This should help you reverse engineer your source footage.
    Good luck!

  • How do I  burn Playlist to disc, when it is greyed out.

Hi, I have updated to itunes 7 and the first thing I did was lose all my music off my ipod, as I didn't have it in the library. I now think that I have all my music back as I had backed up on DVDs.
I know that itunes is s'posed to be a one way thing but I don't see why.
Now I am redoing my playlists, is there anyway to back these up??
I see in files that it says "burn playlist to disc" but it is greyed out. If this can be done, great but how??
If one of you clever chaps knows how please let me know too.
    Many thanks, Chrisie.

Hi there, I had a look but there are no playlists saved there, as the playlists are not saved in the itunes library this may be the reason.
Anyway I don't want to reinstall at the mo. I want to save them so I dont lose them again.
I was hoping if I could get them into a folder or on a disc that I could easily upload them again. I mean, why is there a greyed out area in files?
    Hope someone can help.
    thanks anyway, Chrisie.

    Thanks for the additional information.
After you have your Timeline content ready for export with destination burn to disc, if you do not go to Tools Menu/Movie Menu to apply disc menus and you go instead directly to Publish+Share/Disc, you will get an automatic message for a Yes or No answer with regard to disc menus.
If you do not want menus, then just click No and you should next see the following
where you make your burn to choice.
The Yes or No message should be for Publish+Share/Disc and not Publish+Share/Computer.
You cannot export a file with menus to the hard drive.
If you went Timeline content, Tools Menu/Movie Menu, and applied a menu, and then decided that you do not want a menu, the go to the top of the Movie Menu customization area and click on Reset, followed by Done. And, then go to Publish+Share/Computer and your choice for the export to file saved to the computer hard drive.
Please review the above and let us know if you are OK with the above details.
    Thank you.

    Hi cortiz58,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What version of iMovie are you working with?  Is your end goal that you need to play the file on a Windows computer, or is it that you need to burn the file to DVD?

If you export the iMovie file as a .mov file, you can play it in iTunes for Windows on your PC.
If you want the ability to burn to DVD, then you may consider downloading the free 30 day trial of our professional video application.  Final Cut Pro X can import your iMovie project and burn it to DVD.

  • How to burn a AVCHD format file to disc

I have been unable to burn a DVD disc with the AVCHD format using the sharing options of Premiere Elements (version 11). There is an error message of "media not present."
The program burn option only worked for a DVD format output, which yields poor relative quality. The original source file imported into elements was  an AVCHD (with a .BDM file). I have also tried various name brands of DVD-r or +r media with no resolution.
Alternatively I have tried the save to folder workaround option which generated a ".F4V" file. I have been unsuccessful to convert/burn to disk (last attempt using a 3rd party utility ended with a low quality DVD).
Does anyone have solutions or ideas on how to resolve my issue. Many thanks.

Great news tht the AVCHD on DVD burn to folder (4.7 GB) worked.
However, here is the basic path to stay with....
Although you may see references to a CERTIFICATE FOLDER needed along with the BDMV Folder, ignore that. The AVCHD DVD burn to folder comes only with the BDMV Folder. ImgBurn should create a CERTICATE FOLDER for your AVCHD DVD when burned there.
    1. Open ImgBurn and select the category "Write files/folders to disc".
    2. In the page that opens, go to the File Menu/Browse for a Source Folder and browse to the BDMV Folder from the AVCHD DVD burn to folder. Select only the BDMV Folder, using the Select Folder option in the dialog.
    3. Click on the Build button at the bottom of the dialog to initiate the process. At the onset, you will probably we hit by program messages saying that it detects a BDMV Folder and asks if you want it to reset for Blu-ray disc. Answer No. Do not let it reset to Blu-ray disc. If it wants to do volume labels for you, it is OK to say Yes.
The final setting that worked for me for playback with my CyberLink computer player were:
    Data Type: MODE1/2048
    File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)
I think that I have covered all the dos and do not's, but, if any problems, please let me know. I have road tested this, so it should be OK.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks.
