I have MacBook Air and also Apple Supper drive for the same. can u help me to find dvd/cd burrning and copy software. and also guide me "how to create dvd/cd image using super drive in MacBook Air"

First to create a video DVD you need to use DVD authoring software like iDVD.  You can purchase it from the online Apple Store while supplies last.
For creating a disk image use Disk Utility.
To burn items to a CD or data DVD just insert the disc in the optical drive and drag those items onto the disc icon on the Desktop.  Then drag the disc icon to the Trash icon in the Dock which changes to a Burn icon.

  • New to MAC. How to burn DVD of iMovie

Just created our first school project on iMovie but now cannot figure out how to burn DVD. Is it not possible? We are VERY unfamiliar with the Mac world.....thanks so much in advance!

    Hi
    I would in iMovie'08
    • move from Events to a new Project - building a movie
    • Share this to Media Browser
    • Close iMovie
    • Open iDVD
    • Import movie from Media Browser
    • Design the iMovie menu at Your liking
    • Set DVD burn-speed down to x4 or less in iDVD Preferences
    • Set at Pro-Quality encoding
    • Use a Good Quality DVD - I use Verbatim
    • I use DVD-R
    • I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk - so that iDVD runns OK.
    • Save as a DiskImage
    • Test this with Apple DVD-tool
    • If OK - Burn it with iDVD - or Apple Disk Util tool (need no re-calculation)

  • How to burn DVD and can i burn the same DVD later if its having any space..

How to burn DVD and can i burn the same DVD later if its having any space..?

This is called sessions, but it is not recommended and has been largely abandoned by software developers. This was a good thing in the late 1990’s, when opticals discs were quite expensive, and file size quite low.
applications which reportedly may do this are
    - isoBurn: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/40109/isoburn
    - others, I do not remember which ones, try SimpyBurns, Burn, Dragon Burn and LiquidCD, you will find all in macupdate.com, test which ones suit you.
Otherwise, I do not recommend you such time consuming and inefficient solutions, optical drives are being replaces by more capacitive, cheaper and more practical solutions, like external disks. But, if you insist, you will find what you are looking for.

  • Why can't I play self burned DVD-R disks?

i cannot play self burned DVD+R disks in my Mac PC. Can i load something to play it with?
Thanks, because all my VHS early childrens self made movies  are on this media.

Were your DVDs burned/converted into VIDEO_TS DVDs?
It could also be that you ptical drive has trouble with the DVD+R discs. Some hardware has trouble with the +R discs. I personally have had some trouble with the +R discs in the past. Since I've permanently switched to DVD-R, all problems have disappeared.

  • How to erase DVD-Ram disk

I have a half dozen DVD-Ram disks (from my now-dead DVR). They mount on the Desktop and I can see the contents (VRO and associated files). I am exploring the various Toast, Streamclip (etc.) options to play/rescue the files. Once that is done, how can I erase (and rewrite/reuse) the disks? Neither Toast 8 nor Disk Utility seem happy with formatting/erasing this media. Any ideas?
    ~ Keri

Ah,... makes sense. Thanks! And here's what it says [below].
So, it seems to say I cannot "erase" ... but I can "overwrite" (??), which is splitting a hair finer would have occurred to me.
Okay. Then, how would I "overwrite" the files -- what application could I use to do this? Toast? Other??

  • How to burn DVDs on an iBook Clamshell?

    Hello,
I've got an 466MHz Clamshell with the built-in Apple combo drive that is not able to burn CDs and DVDs. So I was wondering how to modify or upgrade the iBook to make it burning such media. I found this: http://tinyurl.com/2nodg9 on eBay and as the item descriptions say it can be used in an iBook Clamshell. I know that you are not able to use the drive bezel if you want to use the new drive, of course. Do you think this drive is suitable or are there better alternative? Excuse my poor English, please.

    Hi
i inserted a blank dvd-r disk and dragged the imovie events into the blank dvd. then i hit burn and waited until the disk popped out and played it on my dvd player. the videos did not work.
Yes - That's NOT THE WAY to do it - What You made is a DATA-DVD and it can in some cases ber used on a computer - BUT NEVER on a DVD-player any brand any type.
    What You should do is
    • in iMovie - "Share to Media Browser" ( NOT SHARE to iDVD - as the result will be bad to worse) and here as LARGE (Not HD as result will be bad or worse)
    • Close iMovie and start iDVD
    • From  iDVD Media Browser - Import Your Movie and burn this to a DVD
I use only Verbatim - as Cheap media doesn't work (or last) OK
    I use DVD-R
    I use Pro Quality encoding
I set down Burn Speed to x4 = DVD will play on more DVD-devices eg PS3 as it is sencitive.
(This set down You do under iDVD menu / Preferences / Advance / Burn Speed (at bottom) )
You now make a Video-DVD and encoded as such. - This will take TIME !
iDVD do not care about Mb or Gbs - only on Duration = Movie time + menu time and as follows
    iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (vers 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1)
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (Takes x2 to calculate encoding)
    • Best Performances (movies + menus  less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
    About double on DL DVDs.
Menu can be 15 minutes or even more - I keep it as simple possibly.

  • How to burn DVDs without redoing MPEG2 processing work

I rendered in FCPX a 1-hour movie, then loaded it into Compressor and created a DVD (Compressor made its coding work and made the DVD)
Then, I saw that Comp created 2 files (ac3 and m2v) which I guess are the MPEG2 audio-video format to make the DVD. Furthermore, at the end of the process it created also a "PAR" folder which I presume is the command to burn the DVD (?)
Now, is there a way to burn other DVDs (apart from DVD cloning...) directly using these files and without haiving to redo the MPEG2 coding process from the original ProRes rendered movie?
If so how can I make it?

You could use the m2v and AC3 files in a DVD authorinng program like DVD Studio Pro or Encore…also, I believe, Toast (but not in iDVD). As for recycling them via Compressor's job action, this has been asked before and I'm unaware of a way that it can be done. You could, of course, create a disk image (select HD for Output Device) and burn as many physical DVD's as you need from that. Or you could copy your physical DVD in Disk Utilities, but I gather you're aware of that option.
The PAR folder contains information on the DVD assets that is used in the build process.
    Good luck.

  • Multiple burns on a disk using Disk Utility??

    Hi,
I found these notes about doing multiple burns on a disk (see below and it mentions changing the extention name to .img so that disk utility will give you the make disk appendable option.
I understand all that but my question is will this change the ability of the file to open in a new or old Mac (I have an old iMac G3 slot loading, PowerbookPC G4, and the new intel C2D 17"? My assumption is it will be fine in a new Mac but what about my older G3? I want to burn a disc and leave it appendable but am afraid by changing it to .img it won't open in the G3.
    Thanks,
    S.
    1. Collect the material you want to burn in a folder on your Desktop. Open Disk Utility.
    2. Select Disk>New>Disk Image from the Folder menu. Use the dialog box to navigate to the folder you have created on your Desktop, and select "Image." Name your new image, select a destination for the new file, and click "Save." Your file name should end in .img.
    3. Back in Disk Utility, click the toolbar "Burn" button, navigate to the disk image you just created, selected, and click "Burn." Another dialog box will appear. Click the blue triangle but in the upper right hand corner. The dialog box will expand, giving you an additional selection of options. Click "Leave disk appendable," then click the "Burn" button to initiate the burn.
    4. When you want to add a subsequent burn to that disk, repeat the process described above, but in the final dialog box, you will then see an "Append" button instead of a "Burn" button. This process can be repeated until there is no more free space left on the disk to create appended sessions.

I don't know if these are helpful to your discussion.

  • How to burn DVD in iMovie 10

I've just upgraded to iMovie 10 and cannot figure out how to burn my movie to a DVD. I don't want to share on Vimeo, CNN, etc. I just want a movie for me?
What may I missing? Help, please!

    RuffiansRide,
The manual is not going to help you figure out how to burn a DVD. Apple discontinued iDVD several years ago and no longer supports it and in version 10 of iMovie has removed all references to iDVD or burning DVDs.
That said, iDVD stil works beautifully and remains the best option for creating nice-looking DVDs on a Mac.
You said that everything appears to be uploading to iCloud. Have you tried unchecking "Automatically upload content to iCloud" in iMovie's Preferences?
Here is a step by step on how to create a DVD from iMovie 10 using iDVD 7.1.2. If you do not have iDVD, you can probably substitute Toast everywhere I used iDVD (I don't have Toast so can't verify this).
    1. Create a project in iMovie 10.0.1
    2. Go to File>Share>File... and for Size choose Large 540P (960 x 540) and click Next
    3. Choose a location on the hard drive to save the file to.
    4. Wait for the blue circle activity indicator to finish.
    5. In Finder, verify that iMovie created an MP4 file in the location specified in step 3.
    6. Open iDVD and click "Create New Project."
    7. Give the project a name and save it to your hard drive.
    8. Drag the file you created earlier from the Finder into your iDVD project window.
(or go to File>Import>Video... and choose your video there)
    9. Make any adjustments to drop zones, etc.
    10. Click the burn button.
    11. Insert a DVD and let it do its thing.
This produces a working DVD for me.
    Here are my software specs:
    OS X 10.9 Mavericks
    iMovie 10.0.1
    iDVD 7.1.2

  • Help burning DVD with Disk Utility

I have a Mac Mini with a SuperDrive.
System Profiler confirms that I can write a DVD-R:
But Disk Utility won't let me burn a DVD. With a brand spanking new blank DVD-R in the drive, it says "Write Ability: Read Only":
What's the problem, and how do I burn my .dmg disk image?
Mac Mini Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Eject the disk.
In disk Utility, select the disk image file and click the burn button.
A drop down window should appear and ask for a blank disk. Insert the disk.
Soon the window should change and show burn options, and the burn button at the bottom right should turn blue. Choose any options you need and click the blue burn button.

  • How can I uncheck "Enable disk use" in iTunes for my iPod? The option is grayed out, and permanently checked.

When I plug in my iPod Nano (6th generation) and launch iTunes, the device appears in the sidebar as normal, but the option to check or uncheck "Enable Disk use" in the Summary pane for the iPod is grayed out. Currently, the box is checked, so "Enable disk use " is turned on -- but what I want to do is UNcheck it and turn it off.
But nothing I've tried so far has successfully ungrayed the "Enable disk use" box. Help!
Question: How can I ungrey the "Enable disk use" option in my iPod's Summary panel in iTunes, allowing me to uncheck it?
Alternately, is there any other way to turn off "Enable disk use," using some esoteric workaround? Thanks!

Set it to sync automatically. Disabling that option isn't possible for an iPod set to sync manually, as it shows up as a disk as part of the sync process, and iTunes has no way of knowing when you're done syncing an iPod set to do so manually.
