  • Burning MPEG-4 Videos on DVD

I was just wondering how (if posible) can you burn videos downloaded by itunes on to a DVD. i have a DVD burner but it doesn't work becuase it is not in the right format... is there another program that will allow me to do that?
      Windows XP

Depends. If it has digital rights management on it. No. You are stuck. However, look into MPEG Streamclip. See if it will export the footage into a DV file.

  • How to edit Mpeg-2 Video in FCP...

    Hello,
I have an QT Movie file in Mpeg-2 format that's slated to go onto a DVD (file extension is .m2v)
How can I edit this in FCP? I basically need to replace a couple of frames in the middle. I guess I'd have to cut out a 15frame segment (this is the length of the GOP?), and insert another segment.
If this is correct, what Seq. Preset should I use for this? And when I'm done, how do I write it out so as to get the .m2v extension?
Thanks in advance for your help
    Regards,
    Rajnesh

I've been told that Canopus' Edius program handles mpeg2 well. Beyond that, most NLE's are going to have issues with it. As mentioned, converting your video to quicktime DV is your best bet.
Streamclip is usually most often recommended. I've also used ffmpegx which relies on an open source mpeg2 encoder (as opposed to Quicktime's "pay-us-20-bucks" mpeg2 encoder). However, I think ffmpegx only outputs in muxed .dv stream files, so you'll need to do a quick audio render after importing.

  • How to burn a DVD-Video out of iMovie without iDVD (pre-installed Lion)?

I am wondering how I could burn a DVD that works on standalone DVD players out of iMovie since iDVD has been banished from Macs with pre-installed OS X 10.7 Lion.
When I try to export iMovie projects to iDVD the machine naturally cannot find the program. How is the workaround instead?
Thx for your help (Mac newbie).

I have the same issue as olifinger

  • How to prepare MPEG 2 video (image & audio) to play from a CF/SD

    Hi
I'm trying to prepare a short 5 minute video to play on a digital photo frame/LCD display. I need to load it onto a CF or SD memory disk (not a DVD). The display says it is compatible with MPEG 1,2,4. I thought that MPEG 2 gave the best quality, but I can't get it to work. I've loaded up the separate .m2v and .aiff files; and also tried combining the image and sound in a MPEG 2 transport file .m2t but it wont play.
I tried opening the .m2t file in my Mac but it does not recognise the file, so I'm assuming the digital photo frame doesn't recognise it either.
I'm using Final Cut Studio 2, Final Cut Pro 6 and Compressor 3.
    Any suggestions appreciated
    Joanna

Thank you Pete. I realise that I was using the MPEG 2 setting for creating DVD, but in Compressor there is a different group of settings for MPEG 2 with 3 settings - transport, program and another. I managed to create a .mpg file with the program setting and I have loaded it onto the photo frame and it works. I'm delighted. Thank you

  • How to burn hi-def video to DVD with CS3?

i'm using CS3 and for the first time
I'm doing a Hi-Def video project.  But when i copy
the sequence, or export a movie, to my DVD burner, i have quite a bit of loss in video quality.
Someone has told me that i need to get a newer DVD burner (mine is 3-yrs old), since the older ones don't handle Hi-Def properly.  Does anyone know about this?

The DVD specification is for a very specific video format, and that video format is not high-definition.
The high-definition successors to the DVD format were Blu-ray Disc and HD-DVD. Blu-ray seems to have won that format war.
Here's a page about exporting to Blu-ray Disc format.

  • How to force mpeg 4 video to always loop.

    Hello,
I've created some animated loops for for use as podcasts for video iPods. As required these files are in H.264 format and store as ".m4v" files.
Can someone please tell me how to save these files in a way that they are forces them to loop when played, not simply play once and stop.
This is critical for the iPod experience to be ideal. Thanks.
    -Doug

    QuickTimeKirk,
My goal is to create a looping animation for playback on an iPod. Should be easy right? Not with the QT!
    I did the following:
    1) Render a bunch of frames destined for looping.
    2) Convert them to an uncompresses ".avi" file.
    3) Open the ".avi" file in QT Pro.
    4) Click "Loop"
    5) Play movie. It loops nicely.
    6) Click "Export" and select "Movie to QuickTime Movie"
    7) Click "Save"
When I play the saved ".mov" file (You said QT retains the metadate requiring looping) IT DOES NOT LOOP!
To recap: This is a Quicktime movie. I selected looping when I created the bloody thing.
    It
    does
    not
    loop.
    This *****.
This is REALLY, REALLY, ANNOYING! *** is going on with this QT Pro crap? I simply want to loop the movie. Is that really asking too much? I don't think so.
Can someone, anyone, please, please, tell me how to force the movie to loop on launch. Forcing an iPod user to muck about and select looping (can they even do that?) is not an option. Period.
    Please help me,
    Doug

  • How to fix: Mpeg 4 video messed up within player but Ok on the webpage

    Hi,
I have Quicktime 7.1.5 pro. When I try to play a video through the player (local on the computer's desktop) the video colors are off (in a psychedelic way). No good for viewing or editing.
When I drag that same video to a web browser (firefox) the video is okay. Here are links to two screen shots to show the problem:

You post with the generalized question regarding where to find instructions for the Premiere Elements burn to DVD. You were given those.
Now you write (with no in between message)
I need specific answers or no other suggestions.
I fully understand that and appreciate that. That is why I make it a point to customize my reply to the specific question being ask or to the
details of "what is not working". Where do I find your specific question and details in this thread so far?
So, to get to the specifics, just what is your specific burn to DVD issue that is causing to you write. There are many points along there way
where you may be stuck in the process.
If you read my question you can see where I’m stuck now
What are you doing when you get stuck. Telling me burning to DVD is not going to help.
    1. Do you know that after you edit your Timeline in the Edit area, you either go to Tools/Movie Menus or straight to Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc?
    2. If so, how far do you get? Is it that you do not know the path or that you get hit with a program crash or any error message in the Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc task? Is that where we are non communicating, distinguishing between the two?
I am prepared to give you right on answers if you can zero in on your question and details.
I want you to succeed. So, please help me to help you.
All I see from you so far is
I have edited a video with Premiere Elements. Now I cannot find instructions how to Burn this edited video to DVD or Blu-Ray disc. I have rendered to edited video. • How to burn valid video DVDs from VIDEO_TS folder

    Hello,
Sorry if this topic is not in the proper location, but as the question is broad, I thought this was the best place to ask.
I just want to burn files located in a VIDEO_TS folder, properly ripped on the hard drive, so as to make a valide Video DVD.
I already attempted to use Burn, to no avail; it fails withing the first seconds, and outputs this line in the Console:
    19/06/09 15:24:16 /Applications/Burn.app/Contents/MacOS/Burn[596] Unexpected quarantine error: -43; ignoring
I don't want to use Toast since it's not a freeware, and using Nero on Ubuntu does provide a valid DVD.
    Thx for help

I don't want to use Toast since it's not a freeware
But it's worth every cent of it! I have been using it for a long time and can't even remember the last time I stuffed up a disk, burning DVDs Music & MP3 CDS, photo cd's data etc.
I have tried a couple of freeware and shareware programs that are supposed to be ok, but spent most of the time producing drink coasters. if there is one program I think everyone should fork out for it would be Roxio Toast.
maybe someone can recommend a freebie, but I will always swear by Toast and think it has easily paid for itself already.

  • How do I save my video in jpeg format so I can add picture to it and burn a DVD through Photo Explosion version 4

How do I save my video in jpeg format so I can add picture to it and burn a DVD through Photo Explosion version 4

    LRP
    Thanks for the follow up.
In Premiere Elements 13/13.1, your export choices are in the Publish+Share section of the project. There are several choices and sub-choices.
Example: Publish+Share/Computer/and then a list of choices under that, such as, MPEG, AVI, AVCHD, XAVC-S, Windows Media, QuickTime, Image, Audio.
And each has Presets which define the export settings. Adobe offers default settings which are usually optimized ones. But, it also allows you to customize the preset selected. You do that by clicking on the Advanced Button of the selected preset and customizing the settings under the Video Tab, Audio Tab, and, if applicable, Multiplexer Tab.
From what you wrote, I thought that you might be asking about exporting a video with a video codec = Photo JPEG.
To do that you would to to
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    QuickTime
with Presets = either the one for 4:3 of 16:9 as appropriate for your project,
and then clicking on the Advanced Button, and then the Video Tab under the Advanced Button.
Then selecting Photo JPEG for the video codec field.
Tip: The QuickTime choice is not seen unless you scroll down the list of Computer choices. Use the thin scroll bar to the right of the Computer choices.
Please explore Premiere Elements 13/13.1's Publish+Share/Disc/DVD with standard or widescreen preset for your creation of the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
The Premiere Elements timeline destined for this choice could consistent of supported photos and or videos.
    Please consider.
Any questions and need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • How to import MPEG-1 camcorder video into iMac?

I have a Sony digital camcorder purchased in 2002 which records to film. I would like to import the video from this camcorder into my iMac (purchased Jan. 2007) for playback on the computer and to burn the video to DVDs.
When I hook up the camcorder to my computer via Firewire cable and turn it on to the VCR position for importation into the iMovie HD program, nothing happens. There is no communication between the camcorder and the iMovie HD program. None of the steps recommended by Apple that I have tried to establish communication between the camcorder and iMovie HD have worked. It appears that the camcorder format (MPEG-1) is incompatible with iMovie HD.
I will appreciate any knowledgeable advice on how to successfully import this video into my iMac for the intended purposes.
    Bob

    Thanks for your responses.
I’m embarrassed to admit that I miscued in attempting to import the camcorder video into my computer. I corrected my mistake and successfully imported the video, watching it on the iMovie monitor and seeing the video clips appear as the import proceeded.
I added the clips to the movie and saved the project. I just got through playing back the whole movie. Yippee!
I was surprised that this 12-minute recording produced a movie file size of 2.14 GB. Ouch! Is this normal? If so, I’m glad I opted for a 500 GB hard drive on this iMac!
You may be wondering where I went wrong in my initial attempts to import this movie into my computer. John was right in saying “...it should be as simple as you thought.” Simple, that is, if you follow all of the necessary steps! Where I missed the boat was in not clicking the Create button after entering the various pieces of information into the Create Project window. I obviously overlooked the fact that Apple treats the importing of a simple camcorder video into a computer as a major movie-making event. The next time I go through this exercise I’ll don my Martin Scorsese hat to make sure it doesn’t happen again!
The next step will be to burn this movie to a DVD. Wish me success as I research how to do this without any further miscues.

  • How to open and burn some QuickTime videos?

A friend uploaded some Quicktime videos for me and I've tried to save them to my desktop by using file>save as. But then, the desktop icon won't open, and I haven't a clue as to how to burn them even if I could play them:-(
    TIA!!

If you use a DVD and burn it all you will be doing is copying the movie file. You will not be able to play it on your DVD player (if that's what you want to do). To recode the movie to play on a player or through DVD Player on your Mac you need a program like Toast Titanium. Other than that you can insert a blank DVD into the optical drive and burn a copy of the movie.

  • My executable has kind "MPEG-1 Video" in Finder... how to change?

    Hi,
i have a unix executable (small command line program) that is compiled under Mac OS X. However, the Finder thinks it is an MPEG-1 Video (as displayed in the "Kind" field). So, whenever, I launch the application, OS X first opens QuickTime in an attempt to "open" it, and only after that it launches the program (which runs fine by the way). This is a bit annoying. How do I tell the system that the file is an executable? With apple+I and "Open with..." I can change the program responsible for opening the file, but there is no way to tell him that the file is actually a working exectutable! Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Timur

Yes, the file is "stereo2", "timur" is my username:
    -rwxr--r--@ 1 timur staff 1275436 13 Oct 10:59 stereo2
I had to add the 'x' by doing "chmod u+x" in the shell to be able to execute the file.
By now I suspect where the problem may be, since other files with other filetypes with the same problem appeared. This file was e-mailed to me. (I am using Thunderbird.) In the last days, ALL files that were sent to me as an e-mail attachment, have been erroneously marked as "MPEG-1 Video" data type and treated as QuickTime movies by the system. Some of these attachments are textfiles in reality. So it might be something with Thunderbird or the e-mail server. Very strange though. At least for the textfiles it is easy to fix with the "Open with:" option.
