How to burn my iMovie project to DVD

I used to use iDVD but it doesn't seem to work with iMovie 10.0.6. How can I burn to DVD?

Bear in mind, the latest version of iMovie had the ability to create chapter markers removed.  In part, that is why I use iMovie HD.
But for iMovie 10 do this:
To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.
You can still set chapters using iDVD but it's a little harder.

    Hi
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.

There is free open source software called Burn that will burn DVDs. Here is a link.
And here is a post from Creative Techs describing how to use Burn.
If you wish to pay for software, there are many options, including TOAST TITANIUM from Roxio. Apple's retail copy of iLife 11, and Apple's Compressor.
Of these, I would say that iDVD is known for being able to create very professional looking DVDs with intros, menus, lots of interesting templates. It is no longer sold by Apple, but you can find it on sites like Amazon and eBay as part of the iLife 11 retail package. The iDVD application has not been updated since 2006, so past versions back to iLife 06 should work.
Toast is much simpler and the menus and templates are more plain. But it does a good job, and can provide other functions as well, such as burning a BluRay disk.
Compressor is a professional tool that does a lot more than make DVDs. Don't expect much in the way of menus or templates, but it is useful for creating a DVD of a single movie. It can also create a BluRay playable disk.
Burn can make a simple DVD, but does not have the menu flexibility or the templates of iDVD. If you only need to make a one-off DVD, Burn is sufficient and free. If you make a lot of DVDs, get one of the paid packages.
Each software package is a little different, but in general, in iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in Large size. Save the movie to your desktop or someplace you can easily find it. Then drag it into the tool of your choice. You can also use SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER/LARGE if you have iDVD or Toast.
I very rarely make DVDs anymore, because I make my videos in high definition. With any DVD software, your movie will be reduced to standard definition and will look pretty bad on most large screen TVs. I have to remind myself that many people still have small TVs.

  • How to burn an imovie to a dvd?

I created a slide movie in imovie. It is listed as a project in the project library. I shared it to the media browser. Now, I can't figure out how to burn it to a dvd that will play on a tv.

I shared it to the media browser. Now, I can't figure out how to burn it to a dvd that will play on a tv.
If you don't plan to chapter the slide show, then open iDVD and create a new project, press the "Media" button and "Movie" tab to display available clips. Press the triangle next to the "iMovie" name in the library list to display available "Projects" which have previously been "shared" via the "Media Browser." If you have shared more than one size of your project, then select the one you want and drag it to the "drop zone" to add it to your DVD content.

  • Burning multiple imovie projects to DVD

Students created projects in imovie, exported into iDVD. How can I burn
multiple students projects (approx. 3 min. each) onto ONE DVD?

    Welcome to the forums.
I don't think there's a way to combine iDVD projects without some serious tinkering. An alternative approach is to open iDVD and create a new project. You or they can now drag and drop their iMovie projects onto the menu area of iDVD (generally the lower half of the frame). You'll also need to create some submenus to fit all the videos onto a menu.
If your network prevents the drag/drop idea, a different strategy is for each student to Share/Export from iMovie into a self-contained, full quality Quicktime movie. You can drag/drop these into iDVD (as described above).

  • How to burn an iMovie project to a DVD

I have created a movie using iMovie version 10.0 6.  I have iDVD version 7.1.2.  The only "sharing" in this version of iMovie are Theater, Email, iTunes, You Tube, Facebook, Vimeo, CNN Rept, File and Image.  There is no export button, no media browser and no iDVD.  How can I get the movie project out of iMovie and into iDVD so I can burn it to a DVD?

iMovie 10 is not very good for making DVDs.  My favorite is iMovie HD 06, or iMovie 11.   With iMovie HD 06, 1 click and you are sharing with iDVD. Moreover, one click will allow you to create chapter markers that are automatically recognized by iDVD.   Apple removed the ability to create chapter markers in iMovie 10. IMovie HD 06 is readily available on Amazon as part of iLife 06. It does cost more, but worth every penny.

Share ➙ iDVD method works with older, (better) iMovie versions.
In iMovie 10:  You want to use the Share  ➙ Media Browser method and then access the movie in iDVD via the Media Browser.  But you will not be able to create chapter markers.

  • How can I burn an iMovie project in DVD Studio Pro?

I created a DVD in iMovie for a friend, then burned the disc with iDVD. When I play it on my home DVD player it looks and sounds fine - but when he plays it on his DVD player, it looks fine but the audio is poor and echoes a lot. I looked at his setup, and he has DTS (digital theater sound), and from my primitive research, I found out the iDVD does not support DTS. I do however own DVD Studio Pro 3 which supposedly does support DTS - however I have never used this program and need some help figuring it out.
Is it possible to take the project that I created in iMovie and burn it in DVD Studio Pro so that it would be compatible with a DTS setup? I would need very specific steps to doing this because I have never used DVD Studio Pro before.

and he has DTS (digital theater sound), and from my primitive research, I found out the iDVD does not support DTS. I do however own DVD Studio Pro 3 which supposedly does support DTS
iDVD creates DVDs with uncompressed audio (PCM). DVDSP (FCStudio) has no DTS conversion capabilites, just Dolby Digital (AC3).
I think that your friend DTS system must play stereo PCM too; you could check in its documentation.
What I do know is that DVDs with uncompressed audio (we are talking about computer created and burned ones in particular) can be difficult to play fine in some players because the high bitrate.
I'm not an iMovie expert but as far I remember you can export your movie from there as high quality video (you must get a QuickTime movie with same settings that your footage) and convert it to MPEG2 video and AC3 audio using Compressor, and finally importing those assets to DVDSP.
    I hope this help !

  • How do I transfer iMovie projects to dvd if I don't have iDVD?

I compile a year's worth of home movie clips into one DVD every year to distribute to grandparents. I had used my mom's Mac that had iMovie and iDVD but finally bought my own macbook pro so I could do the project from the comfort of my own home. What a surprise that when I finished this year's movie in iMovie, I couldn't transfer it to a dvd!!! Any suggestions?

  • How to burn an iMovie to a DVD to play back on a TV

    Hi!
I'm new to ilife. I have done a project with some photos and added a song and transition effects. It came to a total of 2 minutes and 24 seconds. Now I want to burn it to a dvd so my grandmother can play it on her dvd player, but I can't do it. I have tried different dvd's such as dvd+r and dvd-r; I've copied and pasted the movie, moved it, etc, but it doesn't work
I see that there is much more to it than what I expected, can somebody guide me on this?
    Thanks!

  • I'm trying to burn my iMovie projects to DVD, but can't find iDVD.  Does anyone know where to get iDVD?

    How do I get iDVD?

By purchasing an iLife 08 or newer DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay, or if your computer shipped with 10.6.8 or earlier(not including Mac OS X Server), installing it from the computer's original disks.

  • How to play an Imovie project on DVD player

I used to use iDVD to create slideshows that I could then play on a television using a DVD player.  Now that iDVD is not supported, I am trying to use iMOVIE.  I was able to create the DVD, but it will only play in a mac or pc.  Not in a DVD.  What can I do?

If it can be played well on the computer, but not the DVD Player, it can be due to the incompatibility between the disc and the DVD player. Here are some tips for you:
1.Choose a suitable disc, which is compatible with your DVD Player or you can go to this website for help: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
    2. Change another brand of the blank disc to have a try. And please make sure the DVD is created in the same TV standard with the DVD player.
