I need to know how to down load movies, from my DVDs, onto my hp computer and then down load them onto my iPad

I read the thread question differently than you did I think.  I did not think the DVD in question was a commercial DVD.  However, you have much more experience in this discussion board than I do.  You probably have seen this question many times and assumed (apparently correctly) that it was a commercial DVD.
I was answering the question based on it being a DVD created within a work/home environment that is needed to be put on the iPad.  I have been toying around with that exact process in the past week.  Work training videos etc, that I have created, put on DVD then downloaded to my iPad for travel and display.
    My bad!

  • How do you import movies that were previously archived by iMovie

    Hello there,
I recently archived a movie from my Canon M31 using iMovie and put it in a folder on my hard drive (not an i movie folder, a folder i created).
How do i import those files later? I tested it right after the archive was done and there were no files that iMovie recognized to import. iMovie basically made a copy of my canon flash memory on my hard disk which is great, but how do i now import the file? is there a parent file i need to start that will initiate the process?
    Thanks in advance
    Marc

Thanks...was hoping you would respond and in the meantime i looked at the import options and saw the import archive option....funny hoe reading the options can answer the question...
    thanks for the reply...

    Dear Haritha
    You have a T-code RSZC
Give the name of the source InfoProvider and the target InfoProvider...
Make sure that the target InfoProvider is having all the characteristics and key figures or more than in the Source InfoProvider...
    This works...

  • How to convert HD movies that I have bought to SD so that I can play them on my iPod Classic?

I want to sync the new movies I have bought to my ipod classic but it wont let me. I think it is because I have them in HD. I bought them without realising that the ipod classic wouldnt sync them, and I dont want to buy them again. Is there any way of getting them on my ipod?
    Thanks

If the videos are in your iTunes, you can right-click the video to highlight it, and then select "Create iPod or iPhone Version". iTunes will automatically convert the video to iPod compatible format. When the conversion process has completed, sync the new version to your iPod.

  • How do I download movies that I have already purchased to my iPad so I can watch on an airplane?

flying tomorrow want movies on ipad

You can try downloading them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.  (This is not available in all countries, and must be permitted by the movie studio.)
Otherwise, sync them to your iPad by selecting them on the Movies tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

  • I want to convert a movie that I've created in iMovie from PAL to NTSC.

I've created a large movie using PAL but now want to convert it to NTSC to send to my family in Canada.  It took ages to create.  Is there an easy way of doing the conversion?  I don't want to have to do it all again.

    Hi
    A. Using iMovie'08 to 11 - Will not give 100% result - as You want interlaced SD-Video = NTSC
    B. Converting from PAL to NTSC - is Never 100% loss free - but You lose a bit
I use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut - as they can deliver 100% over to program that converts.
    • iMovie and iDVD can convert - BUT RESULT WILL BE Very POOOOR.
My notes on How I do it
PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL
    A. Copying commercial DVDs - No Not possibly at all - Not even legal to discuss.
    B. Home made DVDs (DVDs without copy protection)
    C. Movies from iMovie or FinalCut
    • Save as full quality QuickTime .mov and convert this with JES_Deinterlacer  (free on Internet)
    NTSC ---> PAL.
    • Most often not necessary - Most stand alone PAL DVD-players playback NTSC
(if TV is old in BL/W)
    PAL ---> NTSC.
    • If played on Mac - not necessary AT ALL
    • If on NTSC DVD-player - CONVERSION IS NEEDED - nearly no Stand alone NTSC-DVD-players
    playback PAL at all.
To do this You need to convert the PAL DVD to streaming.DV or full quality QuickTime .mov
    • I use Roxio Toast™ to do this (There are no free converter)
    • JES_Deinterlacer  (free on Internet) to convert to NTSC
    • Set up an NTSC project (29.97fps or 30) in iDVD and import then burn
    I burn to
    • Verbatim DVD-R
    • Set down burn speed in iDVD to x1 or x4 recommended by many
    • Secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on internal boot hard disk before burning (IMPORTANT)
PAL is 25 fps and an analog TV standard of 625 lines
NTSC is 29.97 fps and 520 lines
NTSC (29.97fps) 520 lines - about 640x480 pixels (square) 720x480 rectangular (narrow) pixels
PAL  (25 fps)   625   lines - about 768x576 pixels (square) 720x576 rectangular (narrow) pixels
to use a photo 702x480 resp 576 then add 9 pixels on each side to add together as 720
If iDVD hangs on PAL or NTSC.
    Bengt W wrote
Deleting iDVD pref. file - should return You into NTSC mode.
Yes iDVD can switch to PAL - BUT as You see with a rather lousy result.
    a. Need to convert to PAL - most often not - Most PAL-player can playback NTSC
and on a fairly new TV in color. (old TV in Bl/W)
(Other way around - from PAL to NTSC most often a must - few NTSC-player can use PAL)
    b. IF MUST - then use JES_Deinterlacer to do this conversion - so much better and free.
My list on this (or rather PAL --> NTSC - just think the other way around)
I have to send it overseas
That too can be a problem. As USA = NTSC = 29.97fps and EU = PAL = 25fps.
DO Not let iMovie or iDVD do this conversion from one to the other - Result will be Very
    BAD
I save the movie as a full quality QuickTime .mov file then I use JES_Deinterlacer to do the conversion - then I cont. in iMovie or iDVD with project set accordingly.
JES_Deinterlacer is free on Internet and there are Pro applications but not that much better and costs are astronomical.
    PAL-DVDs - don't play in US
NTSC-DVDs - usually plays well in EU
All plays well on a Mac - What ever.

A few months ago, I purchased a new iMac. I recently created a movie using iMovie. Then I found out that iDVD is not included. So I have the problem that I want to burn a movie that I can play on my DVD player and watch on a television. I rang Applecare and was told that I need a program called BURN.
Is this correct? I can export the movie from iMovie in a m4v format, but I think I need to convert this to iso format before I can burn the disc.
I know there are programs like TOAST that will do this, but it is expensive.
I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Burn will not do what you want, and there is no real substutute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?
Apple insists that the entire world has access to fast broadband (and are prepared to pay for the considerable bandwidth usage) and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud, YouTube, Facebook, whatever) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. Stating that they would return their brand new Mac unless they received a copy of iDVD worked for some, but that is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple.
Also, you can complain bitterly via Apple’s Feedback link, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between burning DVDs and distributing home movies by other means. You may feel that Apple should not dictate how you destribute family videos or photos to distant relatives and friends, and should not assume that every user is prepared to pay for the excessive bandwidth usage charged by ISPs for huge downloads from the App Store:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that came with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or that comes with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD 7, i.e. iLife version 9 onwards. You should also do this if you plan to buy a new Mac anytime soon, as stocks of iLife that include iDVD will not be available for ever.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast, which is the best software for burning anything but again does not offer the flexibility of iDVD.
And if you think Microsoft are any better, their new Windows 8 operating system will not play DVDs, or burn them, unless customers buy an extra upgrade, the company has announced:  http://www.gizmag.com/windows-8-no-dvd-playback/22443/
In other words, computer manufacturers have declared optical media as dead, long before consumers are ready to stop using them, which is fine as long as they offered us a choice, but they won’t even do that. Flexibility and intuitive use of a computer seems to be a thing of the past.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you would like to download your purchased content directly to your iPad and not have to go through iTunes to sync it. You can download individual purchases directly from the iPad using the Purchased section. Please use the attached article as a reference.

I just bought an HD movie on iTunes.  Yesterday, I watched all but twenty minutes of it on my Dell laptop.  Today, I tried to open it on the same laptop, and it told me my computer can't play HD movies, that I have to view it in SD.  The error message said that my computer didn't have the capabilities, but I have several other HD movies that I have always and can still watch without issue.  Just this one doesn't work.  Why, and do you know how to fix this?

Apparently the display is required to be HDCP compatible to view HD movies in iTunes. My display isn't so this is my problem. I contacted Apple support and they have agreed to credit me for the HD movie and I have now downloaded the SD version.
