  • Buy a song from another country's itunes

I'm an American currently in Australia and I would like to buy a song that is not offered in the US itunes store but is for the Australian itunes store. I am trying to download it but itunes says it is unavailable to me. I am in Australia, so why can't I buy it from the Australian store? What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks

I only want one song so if I were to buy an itunes gift card here in Australia, when I return to the US I wouldn't be able to use it in the US itunes store?
Correct. Your credit balance would not be transferrable to another country's iTunes Store, and you would not (by the terms of use) be able to continue to use the Australian iTunes Store. So it's probably not practical for a single song. Either get someone with an Australian iTunes Store account to gift you the song, or pick it up on CD (which is expensive for a single song, but less expensive than buying an entire gift card for just one track).

  • Help with purchasing with from another country's Music Store

I'm trying to buy some song from the German iTunes Music Store but iTunes won't let me because my credit card isn't a German credit card. I don't see why this is a problem because the artist and Apple are still going to get money from my purcashe, just from a different country. Any suggestions on the best way to buy a song from the German Music Store?

its the record companies at fault companies like warner and emi in the uk dont want you to buy music from warner in the US or emi in germany as it is lost revenue to that business unit.. record companies are not benevolent suppliers of art they are capitalists and like to accrue money, the whole issue of the music lovers desire for global trading of music has long frustrated them and hence why hefty prices are paid for music imports.. this issue was what frustrated Apple's desire to produce the euro itunes store and the segmenting of the store by country was one of the things it had to do to get the labels to agree to let them have music to sell. The online music sales phenomenon has highlighted the despicable business tactics of the record labels and the EU are i believe investigating them and their shady practises....

  • Why o why can I only purchase Apps from my country's app store? Better apps in other countries!!

I am sorry, but we have crap apps in South Africa!!  I want to know why I cannot purchase apps from the US or Canada stores.  I can purchase items over the internet with my credit card from stores in the US, so why not apps?

Yes, I know. It's all a bit silly in some ways, but even major countries seem to have problems dealing with the digital world. That world changes quickly, while governments tend to lumber on like the long dead giant herbivores. But in the evolutionary scheme of things that seems the rule: the bigger you are, the slower you move!.
From my travel experiences of 20 or 30 years ago, I can remember when you would be hard put to find Visa accepted widely outside of the US. Everyone preferred MasterCard or American Express. The latter was not overly liked because of the fees they charged vendors. Fortunately, that's not the case anymore, but it took those changes a while to happen. I recall my first trip outside of the US for which I had my Visa and AmEx cards. Then I discovered that no one took Visa. Even the local ATMs didn't accept Visa, and most did not like AmEx. Went to a local bank in order to get cash using the Visa card because that was my only recourse at the time. They told me I should have used a MasterCard. Who knew? Next trip I had a MasterCard in my wallet.

  • Installing app from another country

I am with Itune Ireland and want to download an app from Itunes UK but it keeps telling me it is going to change to Ireland. The app is not in Ireland and is not applicable to any Irish organisation so how do I install it?

You can only download apps from the iTunes store for the country you are registered in.  Maybe contact the App developer and find out if they intend to put it in the Irish store?

  • Purchasing app from another country overseas

I am in Italy. I am Australian. My credit card is from an Australian bank. I bought my mac in the USA. I am having trouble downloading an app here because the app store is in Italian. Ok I can understand the Italian more or less, but then when I want to purchase and I have to enter the billing address, it won't let me set Australia as the country. This is shithouse. I just want to download angry birds. Why do they make it so hard when I want to give them money? This is the first time I tried using the appstore - i didn't even know it existed before but i mis-typed something in spotlight and there it was. So now I want to buy angry birds and it suddenly spouts all this crap in Italian at me. The OS is in English and they already know my Australian address, why suddenly start asking me to read through terms and conditions in Italian. Anyone know how to get around this? What am I missing here? Thanks everyone

To use a bank card in an iTunes/Mac App Store account, the card has to be from the same country as the iTunes Store and have a billing address for the bank card in that country.
So if you want to use an Australian bank card to buy an app in the Mac App Store you will need to go to the bottom of the MAS page and change the store to the Australian Mac App Store and have an Australian billing address.
If you have not done so already, it is easier to set up the account with the Australian bank card in the Australian iTunes Store first.

  • Is there a way to buy a album, from another country than yours?

I was trying to buy the new Rammstein album Rosenrot from the Germany music store. It says I need a country recognized credit card to purchase music from a foreign store. Is there a way to get past this? Like, do you think a Paypal account would work? This album isn't available yet in the American store.

  • Buying from another country's itunes store?

Why can't I buy music on the US itunes store? When I try to, I get a message saying I'm only authorized to buy from the French store (I live in France); Thanks for help.

In order to purchase from a particular country's store, you must have a credit card with a valid mailing address within that country. Legal stuff...

  • How to access my library from another country

My kids smashed my computer and my ipod.  I have a huge itunes library but haven't bought anything new since they did this in 2011. I am visiting a friend in the UK. I have bought an ipod here and want my stuff back on it. I can access my account but not my library on their MAC computer. Is there anyway of doing this? I read that authorizing a computer will only access you into your account, not the library, but surely I must be able to get into my library without having to buy a new computer back in the States? Is this something I can use the icloud for?

You need to either restore your library from a backup, or travel back to the USA, or buy the content(other than applications) again.

  • Buy an iphone from another country

Can I usa an Iphone here in Colombia if I buy it from this page? Additionally, can I purchase it without any service provided by an USA mobile company? thanks...

If you buy a US iPhone from the website you will have to enter into a 2 year contract with AT&T, your phone will be carrier locked to AT&T so you will want to set up an international plan with them. Will be a really expensive telephone bill. Also, for warranty service you will need to bring it in person to the US.

  • Purchasing from another country's iTunes store

    Hi,
I am based in Australia and use iTunes extensively to buy music. Some of the songs that I am after are not available on the Australia iTunes store, but are on the US site. Is there a (legal) way to purchase these songs?
    Rael

    Hi, Rael.
Is there a (legal) way to purchase these songs?
Unless you happen to have a residence and credit card billing address in the States, unfortunately there isn't.
The reason why has to do with the business part of the music business so, for a bit of insight into the present situation, let's have a look at to This Business of Music (10th Edition) (by M. William Krasilovsky and Sydney Shemel) :
The difficulty of establishing workable business models for digital files (...) extends to where they are sold and where they are played. This is the issue of territoriality, and it is an illustration of how the Internet makes it necessary to reexamine basic assumptions that have been taken for granted (...).
(....) In the music business the primary problem is that copyrights are national and therefore specific rights are tied to national laws and the interpretations of national courts.
(.... T)hough we can one day hope to see the development of common standards with respect to copyright, the fact that the music business is building upon a history of nation-specific contractual relationships means that the goal of universal international standards is not, for the forseeable future, a practical one.
(...) Adding to the difficulty (...) the copyrights themselves may have been assigned to different companies in different territories. The best hope for a cleaner start and a simpler future is worldwide recognition that digital uses are in fact - and should be in law - totally new.

  • Buying apps from another store?

Is there any way of buying apps from another country store and using them on your ipad? There are some apps I would like but for some reason are not available on my own country store.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

No - the terms of use of the iTunes stores say that you can only buy from the country that you are currently in (and, I'm not sure on this, but you may also need to have a credit card registered in that country).
