How to buy and gift gift card for my parent?

At first, I buy itunes gift card in a gift for a loved but now can not afford $ 50 gift card. Tell me what the problem here and I can buy how without fail.

It's not #2 or #3.  I simply cannot plug in the end that goes into the computer.  I took out a flashlight and looked at the connections closely.  First of all, I know I am using the correct port as the same icon above the port is the icon on the plug (sort of a square with 2 straight lines on each side).  When I look at the connection it actually looks like the correct one, but it just doesn't fit.  The plug has sort of a rectangle shaped metal surrounding the pins.  The port in the computer also has a rectangle metal surrounding the pins.  I believe both the plug and the port have the same number of pins.  From what I can tell, both the metal part on the plug and the metal part on the port are the exaxt same size.  That means that hit each other when I try to plug it in.  It blocks me from plugging it in.  It's almost if I could remove the metal from either the plug or the port it would work, but having the metal on both the plug and the port the exact same size keeps me from plugging it in.  I hope this makes sense??  Any ideas?  Thanks again.
