How to calibrate 2 monitors with Spyder 2 Suite?

Hi there!
I've just replaced my 24" imac with a new Mac Pro and two shiny new Samsung 206bw 20" displays.
My question is how do i calibrate both monitors with my Spyder 2 Suite?
It only seems to offer calibration for one monitor?
Any help would be great.

That's because the software thinks you changed your primary monitor. Each monitor will have its own color profile as long as you don't give them both the same name.

  • How to Sync N9 with Ovi Suite!

N9 and ovi suite can Sync!
I have Just Found This Website showing how to sync N9 with Ovi Suite!. I have just tried it and it works great, calendar, contacts etc.
Here's the link, please follow the instructions correctly:
    http://mynokiablog.com/2011/11/01/nokia-suite-updated-to-v3-2-98-0-ovi-suite-sync-with-n9/

I have found the root cause for the crash of Nokia Suite 3.2.100 while synchronizing N9 calendar with Outlook
Basically Outlook synchronization with N9 is working for contacts, gallery, messages, notes.
I had the situation that calendar synchronization ended in crash of the Nokia Suite. The root cause was that after first synchronization some time ago a new calendar PC-SYNC was created on the N9. Due to whatever reason this calendar caused a conflict during the synchronization and the Nokia Suite crashed.
I have deleted this calendar on the N9 and tried to synchronize the Original N9 calendar again..... and it worked.... Now again there is a new PC-SYNC available on the N9 but it doesn't cause problems anymore... Synced N9 calendar with Outlook several times and the crash didn't reoccur....
Looks like the issue is solved now :-)

  • How would I monitor with FIREPOD and not software monitoring?

    Sound confusing?
OK I'm using a Firepod. If I disable software monitoring (to reduce latency) how do I monitor through the Firepod? I lost the manual so that's why I'm asking here.

If you are trying to monitor the Firepod w/ no Latency, simply turn the input/playback knob either to the middle (to hear already recorded tracks + your input) or hard left for input only. Arm the track in Logic, then use the headphone jack or listen through your monitors.
This should give you latency free monitoring with no problems. I do this all the time after tracking w/ a board for seperate monitor mixes, since the firepod doesn't support that.

  • Calibrate monitor with Macbeth ColorChecker?

I've got a 24" Samsung 245T with the input coming from a BlackMagic Intensity HDMI.
The image looks startlingly good, so it must not be calibrated. Unfortunately, the Intensity comes with no calibration software like the MXO, and I can't use my MacBeth Eye One Display monitor calibrator (as the HDMI is only output from the FCP's canvas, not the desktop).
It was suggested that I shoot a MacBeth ColorChecker card with my camera, and use that to calibrate the monitor by sight.
First, I'd white balance the camera using a MacBeth White Balance card, then shoot the ColorChecker card under the lighting conditions I'd commonly use.
Possibly, I would combine this with setting up the black levels, etc using the color bars output from FCP as outlined here:
    http://www.bluesky-web.com/colorbars.html
    http://www.videouniversity.com/tvbars2.htm
(should the black levels be calibrated first?)
As this is not a CRT, and has no 'blue-switch', I could purchase a small wratten #47 to hold over my eye while I calibrate.
Or, use the G Take plugin to display just the blue channel (can't FCP6 do this on its own? will this work?)
    http://www.nattress.com/Free/freeFCP.htm
Does this sound like a good plan, or am I way off base?
BTW - a tech at BlackMagic said he had heard of users installing the DeckLink drivers (which does come with some calibration tools) for use with the Intensity. But, he did not have the details.
    Anyone doing that?

Gary - I'm trying to get my head around all this.
My concern about my monitor's image looking so good came from:
    In the Sept/Oct Creative Cow
    http://magazine.creativecow.net/downloads.php
Bob Zelin's article on Monitor Calibration states:
"Wait a minute, you say: “My HD pictures look fanastic!
I’ve tweaked the monitor in my room to within an inch of its
life and the color is stunning!”
And that’s the problem. I don’t care one bit if the
picture is “stunning.” We need to observe accurate
color, color that will not get rejected, color that will be
consistent at other professional facilities, over the air, or
    at your client’s place.
That’s why a consumer plasma TV whose chroma is
cranked way up, and whose colors are jumping off the
screen — “Wow, look at the colors! I can get a suntan from
that screen!” — is worse than useless. It doesn’t project
an accurate image, no matter how nice the picture looks.
A set-up like this will eventually get you into trouble.
We do this for a living, so we need to see what others
see and I’m not talking about your mom’s 42” DLP."
He suggested some simple calibration using color bars.
I read a review on the SpyderTV you mentioned, and it stated:
Datacolor's SpyderTV calibrates a TV with the assumption that it will be viewed in a dimly lit or dark room. This "one size fits all" approach isn't highlighted in the documentation, and we would be rightfully upset to realize the $270 spent on the SpyderTV was essentially wasted because a TV's primary viewing area happens to be a sunny or well-lit room.
For viewing environments where proper light control isn't an option, the Lucasfilm THX Optimizer (included with many DVD movies) or the Monster/ISF HDTV Calibration Wizard would lead to more appropriate picture settings and better resulting image quality—for about a tenth the price of SpyderTV.
Which gave me an interesting idea. I have an older video essentials calibration DVD. Maybe I could rip the MPEG2 from the DVD, play it in FCP which would would display thru the HDMI monitor, and use that for some calibration?
Or, just forget about it, enjoy the stunning picture, and stop worrying so much!

  • Color settings after calibrating monitor with Spyder 4Pro

Hello,  Now that I got my new laptop and finally got a perfect calibration with the Spyder 4Pro , I have a question.  Do I leave the color space on Photoshop and Lightroom as they are (Abobe 1998) or use the new profile?  I also do a lot of my own prints with a great Epson, do I leave that on the setting as is ( let photoshop manage etc) or use the new profile?
    Thanks in advance....

The profile saved by your calibration software is your Monitor Profile and absolutely nothing else..
It has absolutely nothing to do with your working color space or your printer (target) profile.
Monitor profiles are absolutely device-dependent, that means it only applies to your particular monitor unit and nothing else, not even an identical monitor of the same brand and model.
Your working space should be a a device-independet color space, such as ProPhoto RGB, Adobe RGB, sRGB, etc.
Your printer profile, also called target profile, is a totally device-dependent profile for your specific combination of paper/ink/printer.
You need to do an awful lot of reading on Color Management, a subject some of us have spent a very long time studying before we grasp it.  A good place to start would be here:

So I have a Mac Book Pro with a bootcamp Windows 8. I dual monitor on the Mac side with my Mid 2011 iMac through my mini display port via thunder bolt cable. • How use third monitor with W510?

My W510 (machine code 4318) is connected to a Minidock Plus Series 3 (170 watt version). I've attachd a VGA monitor (1280x1024 resolution) and a DVI monitor (1680x1050 resolution) to the minidock. I'd like to attach a third monitor. My understanding is that my W510 has no nVidia Optimus support, so the approach described here does not apply. My sense from googling around is that there are other solutions, but I'm not clear on the simplest and least expensive way to hook a third external monitor to the minidock. Can somebody please offer advice?
In case it's relevant, I use my monitors primarily for text.  I don't play games, and I rarely watch video.
    Thanks for your help.

My understanding is that the minidock I have (model 433820U) has no USB 3.0 ports, unfortunately, so it looks like I'd have to manually unhook/hook up the USB cable from the W510 to the USB 3.0 dock each time I undocked/docked the computer. That's not terribly convenient.
At this point, it's looking like a USB-to-DVI or USB-to-VGA adapter is likely to be the easiest and least expensive way to go. (Presumably I can't go DisplayPort-to-DVI/VGA, because that would conflict with one of the two monitors I've already got hooked up to the minidock.)
Are there any gotchas I should be aware of regarding the USB-to-video approach?

  • How WebCenter integrates with eBusiness Suite

I have just gone through the flash demo at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/viewlets/1013/fusion.html.
From a user & developer point of view WebCenter looks like a gr8 technology.
Is it going to replace OA Framework?
How does it integrate with eBusiness Suite?
Are there any eBusiness Suite pages being developed at Oracle using WebCenter?

    Andhra,
Oracle WebCenter is part of the foundation technology that Oracle's new Fusion Applications are being built with. Oracle eBusiness Suite uses OA Framework today and is not being rebuilt, but will be enhanced over time. For instance eBusiness Suite R12 will use OA Framework. Existing eBusiness Suite customers may stay with eBusiness Suite or move to Fusion Applications as they see fit.
WebCenter Applications will be able to integrate with eBusiness Suite applications as soon as it is released using the existing PDK portlets.
As soon as WebCenter is released it will be made available as a download from OTN.

  • HD TV or LCD monitor with HDMI,DVI supported to preview and color grading

Finally I got my canon HFS100 and Intensity Pro now what type of the monitor should I get to preview and color grading video via intensity pro between HD TV or LCD monitor with HDMI,DVI supported and how to calibrate monitor via intensity pro.
    Please help.

The main downside is that an HDTV is designed to be used at TV viewing distance. So it would work fine for presentations, where the audience is sitting more than 5 feet away. But at typical computer screen distance of 2-3 feet, it is the same 1920x1080 pixels spread out over a 32-inch screen. Oh, actually, that HDTV you mentioned is only "720p", which is only 1280x720. That may not look all that good at TV distance either, if you are displaying images that are static (non-motion).
Your eyes will have to work harder to see the same screen real estate, because everything is bigger on the screen. Images and text will not look as sharp (more pixelated) because each pixel is larger. It won't be like using a 30-inch Cinema Display, which has 2560x1600 pixels. Each pixel on that 32-inch 720p HDTV is more than 4 times larger.
A 1080p HDTV would be somewhat better, because that is 1920x1080 resolution.

How do i calibrate monitor to get print that looks like pic on screen?
    I am using Photoshop CS3.
When I get a pic the way I want it on the screen and try to print it, it prints much darker. I could calibrate my iMac monitor for photoshop but can't find a way of doing it with my Satellite P200.
My printer is a Canon ip4300 and I'm using Canon ink and paper.

I think you need additional software and hardware to calibrate yout monitor.

  • How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

  • How to use  two monitors with my Mac mini

    Hello,
I have a Mac mini and using a 20" Samsung Monitor with it which works well. I also have my 40" LCD Samsung telly, set up next to it. Whenever i watch a DVD using my Mac i have to swap over the cables. Is there a way of getting the right cables etc and making it so i would be able to watch a dvd on the 40" and still use the 20" surfing the net etc. I had a similar set up with my old windows laptop, but cant seem to work out how do it with the mac. Both monitors have modern sockets, the 40in has HDMI/DVI IN and AGV, the 20" has AGV and HDCP/DVI IN. Many thanks.

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to use dual displays on the Mini. You may be able to find some adapter that will allow you to physically connect two displays, but they will be mirrored, not spanned.
To do what you describe would take spanning, which the Mini is not capable of doing. Unless something has changed recently,..
