How to calibrate 23'' Cinema on a PC

Just purchased the 23'' and loving it. My question is what are the options for calibrating brightness, color and contrast as I am running on pc Win XP.
Is their any software associated with the Cinema 23
If I use calabration software, where are the controls to modify brightness, color and contrast.
Thanks for all of your help.
Thank you,
Tom

WinACD <http://sourceforge.net/projects/winacd/> will give you brightness control. Everything else is done via the color profile file.

how connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

If it is a thunderbolt version of the apple 27" display, you don't.  The TB displays can only work with a TB source.
I also think you are out of luck with the mini-displayport versions of the apple 27" as well.   This would imply converting an analog VGA output  to a digital input of the 27".  I suspect that there is not enough data supplied by VGA for that to work and I do not believe any adapters exist for this.

  • How to calibrate my iPad battery gauge?

I heard that draining iPad battery to 0% is harmful to battery. So how I calibrate my battery gauge without fully discharging it?
I hope somebody will give me a clear answer to this.

When the guage says 0% the battery still holds a safe charge. The guage is only an indication, and the phone (being smart) ensures that the battery charge can get neither damagingly low or overcharged.
Once a month or so, run the iPad, ignoring battery warnings, until it powers itself down. Then plug it into its charger and charge it up to 100%. That's it.  The battery couldn't care less about this procedure, but it will as you say calibrate the gauge.

    Wow.  Thanks Colin.
When I follow your approach, I don't get the same "sequence preset" dialog box popping up.
FU question, though, the motion is frequently jagged.  Is there a way to smooth out/increase the quality of the rendering?    I have 16gb ram, Mac Pro.   which is able to handle iPhone video rending fine in quicktime.   (I've tried rendering for "performance" and "memory" but both seem to produce, eh results.).

how to calibrate dsmobile 600 and mac os:
    http://www.pentaxtech.com/Products/DSMobile600/ImageCaptureSetupMaxOSX.pdf

That is an older HP MFD. HP's site says that OS X 10.3 and 10.4 are supported. It does not, repeat, does NOT mention 10.5. As the date on the installer is from 2006, I suspect that if that device was supported under 10.5 or later HP would have updated the site. Based on experience with other HP MFDs dating from before 2007, I would say that it is extremely unlikely that this device is still supported under OS X. I would contact HP, but I'd not hold out much hope. This is especially true as HP's site explicitly shows support for Vista and Win7, showing that the site has been updated since 2006, but there is simply no mention of OS X support beyond 10.4. The site also explicitly states that it supports PPC Macs, and does not mention Intel Macs. I think that HP has abandoned that device so far as OS X is concerned, but you might want to contact them to determine the actual facts.
You might also look at VueScan, which is 3rd-party scanning software which supports a lot of devices no longer supported by HP. VueScan might work. I don't know, I no longer use HP devices since my old HP PSC1350 stopped being supported under OS X 10.5 (and MS Vista) and HP Tech Support told me that they recommended that I buy a new MFD. (I did. I bought a Brother MFD, which works just fine with 10.5 and 10.6, and Vista, and Win7, as well as 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, and XP.)

  • How to calibrate an iPhone battery?

Hi, I took my iphone 4s to the genius bar at apple store today. Despite having terrible battery problems they told me to wait for ios 5.1 and to calibrate my iphone battery, I was also told that replacing the phone would not be a solution as it is a software based issue.
So I have been browsing the web on how to calibrate an iphone 4s battery and have found answers but they all seem different. Answers I discovered were:
    1.
We must let the iPhone runs the entire burden of the battery, i.e. use it until it shuts down for lack of battery.
After the iPhone battery has run out, we let it sit for about 6 to 8 hours.
After this time because we can connect it to boot to load, this process should be left between 6 to 8 hours. (While it may use its load without disconnecting from the mains.)
Once the load, you can enjoy your iPhone newly calibrated.
    2.
"First, plug your device into a charger and let it charge fully – leave it charging for another hour or two after its fully charged. Then, remove from the charging source and use your device like normal. Do not plug it into a charging source, but use it until the device decides to power itself off due to low battery. When that happens, plug in your device into a charging source and let it charge fully. During this time, it is completely safe to use your device."
Im still not sure how to calibrate an iphone battery.
Can anyone please tell me the correct method?

    Calibrate iPhone Battery:
Use the iPhone until it it shuts OFF itself, due to Low Battery. Then Charge it back up without interruption, like unplugging it, to full charge 100%. Then before or after you do this, Reset iPhone, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone restarts itself, ignore the "slide to power off slider", let the iPhone restart itself.

  • How to connect my Cinema Display as a second monitor

I just purchased a new 27-inch iMac, and I explained to the Apple folks that I had a 17-inch cinema display (silver clad model) that I wanted to connect, for a dual monitor set up. They told me just to get the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter, but I was surprised to realize that's not going to work.
Can anyone tell me how to do this, and what connector is actually needed? I have the big old white power brick that I bought to daisy chain my old 17 and 23 inch displays with my old configuration (Mac Pro).
Or can you not have a second monitor with an iMac?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to connect a Cinema Display to alternative input?

I want to upgrade my Mac Pro (2009) to a reasonably priced graphics card but there are very few that have a Mini Displayport input.
How do I connect a Cinema display with only a Mini DP to an HDMI, Displayport or DVI input? (and still use the sound)
I've looked for Mini DP(female) adapters and can't find any.

I'm unsure of the issue, the Mini has both mDP and HDMI outputs, right? If so, the mDP for the Cinema Display an a HDMI to VGA adapter for the 2nd monitor.

  • How can I import cinema dng files in Premiere Pro CC?

    Hi,
I wanna use Blackmagic Cinema DNG 4k RAW files for my productions in Premiere. As specified by Adobe that schould be no problem.
When I import the dng-folder or a list of *.dng files they are displayed in assets view as single photos. How can I create a video track from these "photo batches" in the sequence window?
Much thanks in advance for any help !!!
    Cheers Peer

Good Peer, glad that solves the import problem for you. I suspect the next version of Premiere CC might not have its import path split with two different results as such.
Back in CS6 I was importing all media through the Project bin. Then with the first Premiere CC, compressed dng from the bmpcc became supported (I think your 4K just became supported recently). So, with the new CC, I kept importing all files through the project bin, and that resulted in hours of import time, and the same hours of re-conforming the same files every time I re-opened the project. And, the same hours of time direct linking into Speedgrade (by the way I love Resolve also).
Then, months later, I heard of importing through the Media Browser and all that time melted away into instantaneous import and quick direct link to Speedgrade.
If you have any projects with dng sequence files imported through the Project bin, I do not remember the exact procedure, it is simple though, just 'make offline' and almost certain it is 'replace footage' to properly Media Browser imported video.

  • How to calibrate 2 monitors with Spyder 2 Suite?

    Hi there!
I've just replaced my 24" imac with a new Mac Pro and two shiny new Samsung 206bw 20" displays.
My question is how do i calibrate both monitors with my Spyder 2 Suite?
It only seems to offer calibration for one monitor?
    Any help would be great.

That's because the software thinks you changed your primary monitor. Each monitor will have its own color profile as long as you don't give them both the same name.

This is not a calibration problem.
Newer windows versions keep the charging % at 99 for reducing Li battery stress (oh, yes, they do) and give you a longer usefeul life.

  • How to use the cinema display while your Macbook is closed

How do I use the cinema display while my Macbook is closed? Whenever I close the laptop the display shuts off as well. I really don't need them both to be on. That defeats the purpose of the external display. when I am home I want to use the laptop like it is the desktop computer.

I am using a MB Pro and a 23" cinema display. Have a wired USB keyboard and a USB wireless mouse connected through the keyboard. When the MBP is closed and when I restart it, the wireless mouse is frozen and the keyboard does not respond. I have to reopen the MBP, use the trackpad mouse, restart again and hope it will work closed. There doesn't seem to be a consistent way to make it work.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • How to calibrate mixing level

Is there a way to generate pink noise in logic to calibrate the mixing level and if so how does one do it properly? I want to calibrate my mixing level with a c-weighted meter. Thanks.

    Here's how it ties:
Much of this is backed by different sources and tests. The magic number you see is the avg foreground listening level where it is not too loud, not too quiet - one study I remember involved ( memory may fail ) a movie in a theater calibrated to this ( was it a Lucasfilm? ). This was attended by many people of different ages from different relevant industries. Afterwards, attendants were asked how the levels were, too soft, right, too loud - the result was a resounding right.
Now, transfer this into the sound creation process. If you know the level most people agree is the proper foreground listening level... you should probably spend a good time monitoring at that level ( you may do so already ), since ( Fletcher Munson ) our ears respond differently to frequencies at different avg levels. Your mixes will probably transfer better. Also, this allows you to set your levels appropriately when creating with a DAW since many of our digital devices have ceilings ( 0dB ). Then, you convince yourself to focus on your avg level instead of squashing the p*ss out of your mix - you just remove that component and focus on a good mix with proper dynamics and ample headroom instead of trying to get an insanely "loud" CD.
    That's that for starters,
    J

What site did you use to download Skype? It is best to only use the app store or, if you trust the company, from their website directly. Other sites include "additions" such as adware, malware, etc. It appears that is what you got according to this:

  • Need to know how to add another cinema diplay

I am wanting to add a second cinema display to my Dual 1g G4. The video card has 1 ADC and 1 vga.
I have my 22" display hooked into the ADC. I now have another 20" ADC display that I want to use. How can I hook it up. Is there a vga to ADC or DVI change over
    G4 Dual 1g, G5 Dual 1.8g   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi guys,
I don't notice redgtviper joining in here. But the problem exists and it would be nice to have an answer, even if only for us.
There is another $299 VGA to ADC adapter called the VGIator:
    http://www.drbott.com/prod/db.lasso?code=0151-VGAT
In addition, I just happen to have a couple of very rare, Core Image, flashed FX5200 128MB AGP video cards that support dual DVI, but that still makes the two DVI to ADC adapters necessary. For Core Image, or for ADC connector there is no PCI cards available.
Dr. Bott has, from time to time, Refurb DVIators for $65. I am told that none are available until 03/23/06.
There is always the answer of buying a cheap LCD with a VGA plug and hooking to the single video card. Be aware that hooking two monitors to a single video card splits the available VRAM. So, a 64MB card would be only giving 32MB to each monitor, reducing performance. A separate PCI video card would give better performance than splitting the AGP card.
In reality, I think, it would be easier to sell the ADC monitors and buy Dell or some other DVI supported LCD's. Probably the overall cheapest solution, and they would be pure signals.
