  • How to calibrate 2 monitors with Spyder 2 Suite?

    Hi there!
I've just replaced my 24" imac with a new Mac Pro and two shiny new Samsung 206bw 20" displays.
My question is how do i calibrate both monitors with my Spyder 2 Suite?
It only seems to offer calibration for one monitor?
    Any help would be great.

That's because the software thinks you changed your primary monitor. Each monitor will have its own color profile as long as you don't give them both the same name.

Some devices will calibrate/profile only monitors, some (more expensive ones) will also profile printers.  Profiling printers is not so important to most people.
Older devices (e.g. Eye One Display 2, Spyder 2) are not suitable for wide-gamut displays.
There are no special requirements for Lightroom or Windows 7.

I can not upgrade my G5 to Lion so I want to use my monitor and hook it up to my Mac Book.  I have the cables connected, now what?  How do I callibrate them?

Since it has DVi I'd get the Apple MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter. MiniDisplay Port and Thunderbolt use the same socket design, they are basically interchangable although Thunderbolt has more features than the older Minidispay port standard.
This is what it looks like at both ends.

  • How to correctly calibrate my monitor?

Hey. I recently did a clean install of my OS on my notebook which has an i7v3 processor and nvidia geforce gt 635m 2gb video card. After the install i downloaded all of my drivers. The colors in Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro seem to be way off. What is the best way for me to re-calibrate my monitor to correct this issue? Thanks

    By using a hardware calibrator puck. , e.g., Datacolor Spyder4PRO, X-Rite i1Display Pro,
X-Rite ColorMunki Display, Datacolor Spyder4ELITE, X-Rite ColorMunki Smile,
    Datacolor Spyder4EXPRESS, etc. etc.
However, don't expect miracles with your "notebook".  Even LED/LCD monitors hooked up to desktop machines are very hard to calibrate accurately—unless you go for the Eizo and NEC monitors costing several thousand dollars each, and even then you really have to know what you're doing.
Personally, I do my very best to maintain my high-end monitors and go to great lengths and even greater expense to replace them with old new stock CRTs when they die, inevitably.
The high-end NECs and Eizos are very serviceable monitors but expensive.  You get what you pay for.
Incidentally, the best or most expensive video card will not do a thing to improve the image quality of any given monitor.

    Hi,
    Please try:

As a graphic designer, I would not use the screen of an AIO machine to do my work, I need a proper screen which may cost hundreds dollars more.

  • How to calibrate PS CS5 to correctly print in HP T770 Plotter

    Hi,
I recently installed in my shop a HP T770 Plotter but when I print something in it all the colors look faded. I calibrate my monitor using Windows 7 tool and after I did that the colors looks amazing in my monitor, but not that great on paper after finishing printing.
I went to the assign profile on PS under edit and select the HP Bond Paper profile for the plotter but still no correction.
Try to switch from rgb to CMYK and nothing. Don't know what else I can change to fix my problem.
    Thanks

Don't know what else I can change to fix my problem.
You need to buy a calibration device that supports both screen and print calibration. Everything else is just pointless fiddling.... My neighbor's cat can make things look good on screen and they will still print rubbish, if you get my meaning...

  • How to select my custom monitor calibration profile into Lightroom 5.7?  I used i1 Display Pro to calibrate my monitor, I could not find or confirm that Lightroom is using my custom monitor calibration profile? Thank you very much.

How to select my custom monitor calibration profile into Lightroom 5.7?  I used i1 Display Pro to calibrate my monitor, I could not find or confirm that Lightroom is using my custom monitor calibration profile? Thank you very much.

The monitor profile is set at system level. Lightroom will find it there and use it. You're not supposed to do anything, i1 Profiler will do it all for you.
Go here to confirm that the right profile is set as system default (Windows):

  • How do I calibrate the monitor to the printed photo for equal color tone and brightness?

Where in the program do I calibrate the monitor color to the resulting printed color.  My printed photo is much duller and "blacker" than the monitor.  Other color programs has a setup section to plug in the monitor's ICC profile along with the printer used so the resulting printed photo is very close to your adjusted photo on the monitor.

I just got my laptop and I'm a photographer.  It is very important to get my laptop similar in color to my photos.  So when they are printed they look similar to most basic commercial printer (Walgreens etc)  I had no problem on my old computer. My Satellite seems very bright and the people looked washed out.  I used th ctrl, alt f12 key and there was a contrast adjustment.  I just can't seem to get a nice natural color from the computer.  Can someone let me know what they use or what looks good to them.  The factory default seems way to bright and people look to bright??  Thanks so much in advance...

  • Does anyone know How to run twin monitors on a MacBook Pro operating on a Windows Server 2008 R2 ?

    Hi
Does anyone know How to run twin monitors on a MacBook Pro operating on a Windows Server 2008 R2 ?

I know this doesn't help you much, but, I think you have to see if your Mac pro does audio out via HDMI. I don't even know if mine does via DVI. I think it may have to do with the adapter. Try going into Audio MIDI and setting the digital out to multichannel
and using the toslink cable for now. Lemme see...apparently DVI does not carry audio at all. Hm. apparently monoprice could be helpful?  If I understand what you're saying correctly: you want to take DVI and multichannel audio via the Toslink and have it all go out over HDMI, right? Whooo..... amazon...looks like it's about $100http://www.amazon.com/Audio-SPDIF-Toslink-Converter-Adapter/dp/B0015YYOQQ
just a shot in the dark
    I'm probably wrong....or not

  • Anyone use the Eye-One Display 2 to Calibrate their monitors?

Just wondering if anyone on the forum today has used the Eye-One to calibrate their monitors and if you like it?

The best way to view DV video output is on a monitor that is designed for that format. Computer monitors are progressive and run in a different color space than NTSC/PAL monitors. If you want to really see how your video slide show displays, you should monitor it on an NTSC display. Keep in mind that LCD and plasma TVs still do not have the dynamic range of good ol' crt TVs. The sony PVM-14L2 (now discontinued) is a great choice for monitoring DV.
How to calibrate a NTSC monitor:
    http://www.synthetic-ap.com/tips/calibrate.pdf
    http://www.bluesky-web.com/colorbars.html
    http://www.videouniversity.com/tvbars2.htm
    http://www.mediacollege.com/video/calibration/
You need some device between the computer and the TV to convert the firewire out DV into analog to be fed to the TV. The A/DV converter can be your camcorder, a DV deck or a dedicated device such as those made by Canopus (the ADVC series).
S-video should yield a better signal than composite. Component would be better yet but most simple a/dv converters don't offer that as an i/o option.
If you want to work in HDV, all of the above is meaningless. HDV does not monitor via firewire. You need a 3rd party card (eg Kona LH) or an external DVI box (Matrox MXO) to convert the signal to a displayable format. And, you need an HD monitor or, with the Matrox, you can use a 23" Apple display.
    Good luck.

  • How to calibrate an iPhone battery?

Hi, I took my iphone 4s to the genius bar at apple store today. Despite having terrible battery problems they told me to wait for ios 5.1 and to calibrate my iphone battery, I was also told that replacing the phone would not be a solution as it is a software based issue.
So I have been browsing the web on how to calibrate an iphone 4s battery and have found answers but they all seem different. Answers I discovered were:
    1.
We must let the iPhone runs the entire burden of the battery, i.e. use it until it shuts down for lack of battery.
After the iPhone battery has run out, we let it sit for about 6 to 8 hours.
After this time because we can connect it to boot to load, this process should be left between 6 to 8 hours. (While it may use its load without disconnecting from the mains.)
Once the load, you can enjoy your iPhone newly calibrated.
    2.
"First, plug your device into a charger and let it charge fully – leave it charging for another hour or two after its fully charged. Then, remove from the charging source and use your device like normal. Do not plug it into a charging source, but use it until the device decides to power itself off due to low battery. When that happens, plug in your device into a charging source and let it charge fully. During this time, it is completely safe to use your device."
Im still not sure how to calibrate an iphone battery.
Can anyone please tell me the correct method?

    Calibrate iPhone Battery:
Use the iPhone until it it shuts OFF itself, due to Low Battery. Then Charge it back up without interruption, like unplugging it, to full charge 100%. Then before or after you do this, Reset iPhone, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone restarts itself, ignore the "slide to power off slider", let the iPhone restart itself.
