i have an item where i want to call a function, which will return some different value in runtime in r/o of item value.
so how can i call a function?

So you want to enter the data in to the item and display the result to that item itself?
Or the data is fetching from database, and you want to pass that value to the function, and display the result in to the item?
If your requirement is 2, then in the POST-QUERY trigger write,
:<block_name>.<item_name> := <function_name>(:<block_name>.<item_name>);And if your requirement is 1, then you can do in 2 ways,
1) If you don't want to see the entered data, and want to replace with the entered data.
write in the KEY-NEXT-ITEM trigger
:<block_name>.<item_name> := <function_name>(:<block_name>.<item_name>);2) if you want to see both values,
Then you have to add 1 more item, and in the new item's properties set as in my first post.

Could you give Some examples or links related to how To create and call library functions For validate Items..For creation you already created one procedure and you called on error. So for creation and call it is clear. Now you are talking about validation for items. It depends on your requirement. As you check validation in items's triggers you can also check validation in function/procedure of library. You can use parameter to pass values and check the validations. And you can create the procedure/function in library like this...

3. Inside a After submit process, in a loop, i want to call a javascript function for each of the file user want to save with the filename as a parameter.

You can't since Java is running on the server and javascript is running in the browser long after the Java side of things has finished executing. Assuming you're not talking about an applet here.
But you can make calls back to the server through Ajax. All you need is something like a servlet on the receiving end which you can invoke through Ajax; from that point you can execute any Java code you want.

You need to use the syntax "{call <procedure_name>}".
The {call } syntax tells the OLE DB provider that it needs to translate the call into whatever the database's procedure calling syntax is. This means that even though different databases have different syntax for calling stored procedures, your OLE DB code can be run against any of them without changing.

case(1) i have function without parameters, it does some DML operations inside that and it is working fine.when i refresh i see tables getting populated.
case(2)I have another function as shown below with parameters(input) but i was getting error (One of The function arguments has an incorrect datatype:POST_SAVE_DOCUMENT)

Can you give some idea or solution to get rid of this problem.
Finally ..i did not see anything under item radio button (The recommended way now is to click the Items radio button, find an item that you want to pass to a parameter, then on the right-hand side highlight the placeholder for the parameter, then finally you click the Paste button. You repeat this for all the parameters and then click OK to finish the calculation.
