How to call DML through procedures

Hi,
I've a requirement like i have to call procedure from function,In that procedure,having so many DML operations.
I am facing error like 'We can't perform DML operation inside a query'.
How to eliminate this error?

The problem, as Karthik has suggested, is not that you are calling DML inside a procedure or function, but that the DML is being called in a procedure or function that is taking part in a query transaction i.e. you are using the function inside a query and that function (or a procedure it calls) is trying to do DML. This isn't permitted.
The reason you can't do this is that the query is in the process of reading data from the database and you can't have the same query try and change the data on the database (using insert/update/delete OR any DDL statements that change the structure of the database) whilst it is in the process of reading it. It would be like you trying to read a Word document and there being macros in the document so that as you visited certain pages, the text of the document changed. By the end of it you wouldn't know if you'd read the document correctly or not or whether it all made sense. Oracle recognises this stupidity and prevents it.

However when i tried mapping it to Package.procedure, communication channel throws the error saying that Package.proceudre needs to be declared.
As i said , the procedure has IN-OUT parameter too.In oracle we need to write a block if we want to read the IN-OUT parameter.

It is also possible to do this using a custom processor in EDQ. The processor needs to do something very similar to the external task above (opens a DB connection, authenticates, runs a stored procedure).
If you need this, please talk us through the use case so we can determine if it is the best fit. In some ways, an external task is better as logically a stored procedure call is normally divorced from any process logic in EDQ.

How to call a Stored Procedure with a REF CURSOR output parameter

I am looking forward an example that call a stored function/procedure with a REF CURSOR output parameter and get the result.
In other words, I have a stored function/procedure that execute a SELECT statement using the OCI library and then it could get the values of each column and each row.
I put a code snippet, it have only the main thing to call a simple stored procedure and print the name of each column of the cursor, but I couldn´t to print out the values in the table that call the stored procedure.
I understand that the next step, it is to call a OCIStmtFetch.
How to associate the cursor with the OCIStmtFetch?
If you need more information, only tell me.
I am using ANSI C with HP-UX Operative System (C for HP-UX) and Oracle 10g.

I change the code with OCIDefineByPos, one for each parameter from cursor and then use the OCIStmtFetch.
I don´t receive a error when call OCIDefineByPos, but when I call OCIStmtFetch receive a -1 error number.
What is wrong with the code?

Hi,
a stored procedure is called by the business service. If e.g. your business service is ADF Business Components then you call a stored procedure from the Application Module's transaction. Call a PLSQL procedure using a prepared statement. Similar you call stored procedures from EJB or TopLink business services

Hello,
You can do an HTTP call from a store procedure using thre UTL_HTTP package; so you should be able to call your servlet this way.
