How to call Oracle Report 6i from a java swing/ejb codes (client server)

Hi to all.
We now have to do reports using Oracle Reports that have to call from Java Swing (interface) / EJB (Backend).
How can we call the Oracle Reports 6i from Java Swing?
Do anybody done that?...Any ideas? Where should we find the resourse, if any?

Working locally, and having set the ORACLE_SID, you don't need to specify the SqlNet alias (@testdb).
Remember to put an exit at the end of the bpk.sql script.

How to call a shell script from a java code

Hello can any one suggest me how to call a shell script from a java program that takes three parameters.
i have a shell script (msp_restore_gui) when i run this script in the command line in a RHEL5 ,SUSE10 and Debian machine it works fine .I even tested to call it from a java program and it also worked fine but when i used the same in a J2ee application where the user when clicks the restore button in a webserver this inturn sends the request to a java file named BackupManager.java where i call the shell script.But here it fails.Waiting for your suggestions.If you want i can put the code also here

There is no automatic way to do this in JDeveloper. I know there are some Oracle Partners offering forms to java conversion, I don't know how much of their tools are automated and done with JDeveloper. With JDeveloper+ADF you basically rewriting the Forms application from scratch (and using ADF is helpful during this process).

But in the step of 'Create the Oracle HTML DB Application', 'OE' doesn't appear in the LOV of Existing Schema, even though the sample schema exists in the schema and they are unlocked. And when I type 'OE' directly without using LOV, and press Next, the message 'Schema is reserved or restricted' appears.

I know your following the tutorial, but if you want to call oracle reports from apex it is quite easy though if your working with oracle reports 9i or higher. Just create an html region and put in the source the html code for referencing an url like to_report
Or reference the same url from a button placed on the HTML region
(you can create a package that would create the whole URL and returns it as a string, easier for scalability)
Hope this can help you to (tutorial is good but try and learn from scratch is also good ;-) )

the how-to is still valid for APEX 3.0. Calling an Oracle Report from APEX is still the same, it's basically the URL you build for the report call and Oracle Reports hasn't changed that format.

Hello Achim,
You do not need to create multiple files:
- you can create a single file from the Builder and specify 'Paper anfd Web Layout'
- save the files as JSP
In this case the JSP file contains the both layout Paper and Web, in this case you can:
- edit the web source (JSP) from JDeveloper
- use Reports Builder to edit the Paper Layout -that you can format as PDF-.

i need to call oracle funtion to my controller. How can i invoke funtion from OAF. Thing is i need to set the value in messageStyleText ,which will be coming from funtion. How can do that???? I am strugglin a alot on this .
Could you please help me anybody who have any idea.

You can create a view object with a simple select statement fetching the value from the function. Attach with VO to the AM programatically. Bind this VO Name and Attribute to the messageStyleText.
