How to cancel tabbed viewing in Fireworks CS5? I don't like tabs, but I couldn't find in Preferences an option to cancel it.

Choose Window > Cascade from the main toolbar.

Your right, there is only one tab to view the report.
To open the subreports you will need to click on them in the main report. I don't know of a way to open them programmatically like you are doing here

Unable to view the options screen (it only displays the ok and cancel tabs)

How do I blacklist sites from appearing/being screen captured in the new tab view (Banking/Social media/Etc...)?

When I was checking out the new tab view this morning, I noticed that there were screenshots from by accounts page on my banking website. I turned off the tiled display, but they came right back when i turned it on again. the problem is 1) I don't know where these screenshots are being stored, and how detailed they are (the thumbnails are blurry, but recognizable to me) and 2) how do I blacklist a domain from being screen capped for this purpose at all? The screen capture seems to not be related to having the tiles show up in the tab, since they came right back after toggling this setting.

these screenshots are stored in your browser's cache at the moment, but in future versions of firefox they will (together with the previews for tab panorama) be stored as plain picture files in a folder in the local applications data folder of windows & the number of screenshots will be optimized (reduced). the resolution is quite low, they are only available in the blurry format you already see.
you can remove sites by clicking the x button on the thumbnail - this will be remembered in a blacklist, however i'm not sure if this is affecting the whole domain or just the exact url (i suspect the latter).

Fireworks CS5 click-through prototype - how to organize?

In Fireworks CS5 I'm trying to organize a click-through prototype, but I can't seem to get it to work as intended. I have the following Pages:
Master page
Page 1
Page 2
On the Master page I have (apart from a static background image) two instances of the same button Symbol to make a global navigation. One button is linked to Page 1 and the other to Page 2. The button Symbol has a certain look for the two states: Over (hover) and Down (click) states.
If I export the pages as a html click-through prototype, the two buttons work as expected when I start navigating from the Master page, apart from one thing:
The Down states aren't shown on click and they aren't persisted (for you-are-here indicators) when either Page 1 or Page 2 is loaded.
So my question(s) is/are:
What am doing wrong/have I misunderstood? / How can I organize my prototype differently to make sure the clicked state of the buttons are shown and persisted as I navigate through the prototype?

I can reproduce the issue and have notified the Fireworks Dev team along with supplying them with my sample. In the meantime, one workaround is to place a static graphic, representing your down states, on the appropriate pages.
Alternatively, do not use button symbols. Rather, place the graphic for each state on an actual state in the Master page, then apply a slice and add a Navbar behavior. It's a bit more work and not as elegant as the button symbol, but it does work. Make sure to add the same number of (blank) states to your other pages.
Let me know if you need specific steps.

Constrain window to image in tab view, how?

I have photoshop workspace set up with the open documents across the top in tabs. Usually one of those tabs is the "Host" document and the other tabs are "Element" documents.
In the process of creating, Element documents are usually resized to fit into the Host document. I tend to go through and select the element documents one at a time which opens them up over the full screen. i.e. there is gray background around the borders of the image. I then crop to the size that I estimate that I will be using in the Host document. Now I open the Host document which opens full screen with gray background.
Here is my problem. When I drag the "Element" documents down to the Host document, the window is very large with a large amount of gray showing around the element image. So large that it covers the whole Host document. I have to drag the edge over to shrink the window, allowing me to see the Host document. I would like to find a preference that would force the Elements window to be constrained to the edge of the image rather than showing the large gray border. This would usually create a smaller window i.e. the size of the image in which I can simply drag the elemnent into the Host which would be visible.
If there is no solution for this, could it be transfered to a feature request?

I think the real point of confusion here is that you feel everyone should just know what you mean when you say "when we drag images from their tabs over a working image".
You're mixing tabbed view and windowed view by doing this. This is supported by the screenshot you posted.
I don't believe most people drag tabbed images around to turn them into windows, so that some of the images are still captive in the Photoshop window in tabbed view while others have been disconnected from the Photoshop window and and are now in their own windows. I think this is probably why there's some confusion here and no one's jumping in to say "yeah, that bothers me too".
What are you trying to accomplish in all this? Are you trying to make more than one image visible at the same time so that you can see them all while you're working on them?
If so, have you considered pressing the Arrange Documents button to have Photoshop tile the open documents in one of the various ways?

I locked a few objects but now I can't find an unlock command - how do you do this in Fireworks?
Found a menu in the layers palate which did the trick - pretty cryptic though!

First, make sure the objects are not on a master page. If not, you can either click on the little lock icons next to the objects in the layers panel, or open the layers panel menu and select Unlock All.

Some adobe fireworks cs5 panel acting strange.... how to fix it

Hello everyone, I had a little problem with adobe firework cs5, nothing big. Some of the Adobe Fireworks CS5 panel is acting strange: special character panel don’t show any character when I want to insert a special character when I finish create a text. Image editing panel don’t show any editing feature. Patch panel kept on blinking over and over again.
I try to uninstall over and over again but this don’t seem to fix this issue.

I'm having the same problem with the Paths, Image Editing and Color Palette panels. I updated to the latest version of Flash Player 10.3.183.10. Still doens't work.

Fireworks CS5 wont start up in lion (error in preferences folder)

Ok, after 10 days with out FW CS5 on my new Lion installment. I finally cracked some kind of bug where FW would freeze just after loading and the last text in the CS5 logo was tabs and then the processor would go up to around 81% and just freeze.
Apple and Adobe, both blame each other and none could give an answer, but to re-install everything, which i just had done. (Man the big dudes are lost sometimes!)
"My" problem turned, that I seemlessly had a corrupt file in my ~/Library/Preferences/
But i couldnt figure out which one it was.
I ran a Terminal plutil -s *.plist and no errors showed up.
The solution turned out to be:
Deleted the entire macromedia folder in the ~/Library/Preferences/ folder and now its working.
macromedia is the name of the old FW creators before Adobe took over.
So i am guessing there is some kind of error, but who can tell. I cant, adobe cant and apple cant.

Its because the macromedia folder is recreated each time flash is used somehow.
I made an Automator App that
1) Locates the ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia
2) Moves the Macromedia Folder to the Trash
3) Runs Adobe Fireworks CS 4
So all I need to do is click this Automator App instead of the Fireworks App in my Dock, and then I am sure it will start.
(I Know that this is not a 100% cool in the end fix, but seems like Adobe are ignoring this error after several of attempts of direct action to tell them.)
Here is how to build your own automator app that does these three steps for you.

Using thickbox-gallery extension in DWCS6 for webpages sliced in fireworks CS5

After designing my webpages in Fireworks CS5, I have exported them into Dream weaver CS6 but I can't seem to place the "thickbox" extension for my gallery in an aligned manner. in order words it has refused to position itself horizontally from left to right of my page.
Please can anyone help me in this regards.

Meanwhile I'm happy to inform you that I figured out a way to solve the problem I reported here. The process is as follows:-
When you add the "thickbox" gallery and you want to make it align horizontally from the left to the right. First off, select the "gallery" (usually the 2 default thumb nails/galleries) you added, simply go to your "CSS Styles" panel and under "Current" tab. Add the "Display" property and then on the right, change its attribute from anything it is to "inline". At the instance, the "thickbox" gallery changes alignment in a landscape manner and positions itself from left to right. You could also try out other possible "attributes" of "Display" to see the one that could also give you what you want or same result. Once you're happy, you could go ahead to swap your thumbnail images and populating your galleries.
It took quite some time to discover this.
